Bee’s Knees Bakery

This is my favorite bakery in Athens. Everyone raves about Cecilia’s cakes, but I find bee’s knees cakes to be more moist, more dense and the buttercream frosting is out of this world delicious!

I’ve been here before and I remember it very differently than it is now. When I got three cupcakes today, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, it tasted like Walmart store bought cupcakes. Not exactly worth $ 3.25 each. Maybe it’s an off batch but either way, I just threw them out rather than eating the rest. It used to be great stuff, but I don’t know about now.

Every dessert item I’ve ever gotten here is delicious! However, the customer service isnt necessarily always overly welcoming or friendly. If you want great sweets I highly recommend especially the red velvet cupcakes!!! They are dense yet moist very smooth flavor and cream cheese frosting is delicious! Ill put these red velvet against anyone anywhere. I’ll even break my good eating habits to cheat. The gooey bars are very good as well as the German Chocolate the one time I had it.

I also got a red velvet cupcake which was a little dry for me. the salted caramel, recommended by the lady working there, was disgusting to me. it was not my favorite by any means but I guess everyone has different tastes. my favorite was the tall dark & yummy! OH. MY. GOSH! if you stick it in the microwave for a bit, it is amazing. it left me in a food coma but it was well worth it! like this local bakery; luckily it’s a ways from me or i would be 200 pounds, not 100 lol. give this place a shot, it’s worth your money!

My mom ordered my birthday cake from here. Not sure about the cost but the cake was amazing.

I was dying for a chicken salad sandwich and since i work close to this place i thought i would give it a try… well i should have just gone in to subway and would have felt like i had a descend sandwich. It was $ 10 for a can coke, and a bag of lays chips, some chicken salad between two pieces of store bought bread… no lettuce tomato nothing i guess i should have ask for that but i assumed that when you buy a $ 10 sandwich it comes with these things! I don’t know about the cakes or cupcakes they may be excellent but i would not go for a quick nice sandwich! I will say the guy who checked me out was super nice and friendly!

I was looking for a specialized cake for my daughter’s birthday party, and found this bakery online. They had amazing custom made cakes. I thought it would be the perfect place to find what I was looking for, so I decided to call and see if they could give me an idea of what they were able to do and approximately how much it would cost. The phone was answered quickly, but I was immediately told that I would have to send pictures of what I wanted by email before they could tell me anything. After a short conversation (with a person who was rude and easily agitated with me), I was finally able to get some «base» prices. However, the person on the phone was still rude and short with me. It was seriously as if I was causing an extreme amount of trouble by trying to do business there. Needless to say, I will take my business somewhere where it is wanted and appreciated. I try to never spend my money where the customer service is of poor quality. This was absolutely the rudest service I have had in any place of business.

Had a free sample while eating next door at Barberitos, and it was decidedly average — their other selections might be tasty, but I wasn’t impressed enough to walk next door and find out.
