Ga Center For Continuing Education

Excellent staff. Super courteous and eager to help you. Rooms are nice and have been recently remodeled. The conference area was great and so convenient to stay in the hotel and walk down the hall to class!
My only complaint is that the walls are like paper. I could hear ever single word said in the room next to me. I wish they did breakfast room service too!

Very nice hotel located centrally on campus. Most likely business is generated during football season as it’s just a short walk to Sanford Stadium.
My room was the right size for my needs. Plenty of towels and hot water and plenty of channel options on the television (six channels of HBO). I even received a call from the front desk to ensure that my room as in order and if I had any needs. That’s good customer service from my perspective. It’s definitely not a five-​star hotel but is as clean as it gets.
Only issue I had was when I took a shower the knob to switch between the faucet and shower wouldn’t stay so I would get the mid-​range pressure problem. other than it.
Dinner can be purchased at The Savannah Room and breakfast in the Dawg Lounge for reasonable prices. In general I was impressed with their choices but the bacon was pretty sub-​standard (way too salty which denotes low-​quality bacon).

I have never stayed in the hotel, but I have attended a variety of conferences here at the Georgia Center.
The highs:
–Really comfortable chairs, particularly in the auditorium.
–Tasty snacks during breaks, particularly the little Mayfield ice cream freezer and the trail mix bar.
–Big fridges filled with Coca Cola products and bottled water outside at all times.
–Great A/​V staff who keep presentations running smoothly.
–Dedicated registration area where hotel staff manages the nametag and agenda distribution.
–The Center is a hotel so you can stay overnight on the same property.
–Plenty of parking is immediately adjacent to the Center.
The lows:
–Really nasty hot food. The plated and buffet lunches I’ve had were both downright disgusting. Whether it was ham in a mysterious pineapple sauce with maraschino cherries or hacked up chicken in a cornstarch-​thickened «mushroom» sauce, all the entrees were questionable at best.
–ALWAYS out of Diet Coke in the aforementioned drink fridges. They would have regular coke, coke zero, and caffeine free diet coke, but you had to beg to get a plain olé diet coke.
–Confusing layout. The main auditorium can seat about 300, but the breakout rooms are spread all around the property and the signage is confusing at best.
I always look forward to conferences here at the Georgia Center, mainly because it’s a good excuse to come to Athens, not because this particularly venue is anything special.
