I will never go back to this place. They will rip you off for sure. They did not want to replace the broken unit they sold me. The only thing they offered was a store credit. There is nothing else I wanted to get from this store so the best I could do was walk out empty handed. A couple of people had warned me about this store but I did not listen. That was $ 80 lesson. So please do yourself a favor and don’t get ripped off by this store.

42 Degrees has been falling from grace for what feels like forever. If we are to follow the life and death of the Athens location it goes a little something like this: The nicer items begin to systematically be replaced with China glass and the shelves would house more and more irrelevant junk. The attention and professionalism of the staff begin to fall as whatever nice item remains beings to look dirtier and dirtier on the inside. Eventually any resemblance of interest and respect to a potential buyer is lost. Studios are dropped, the shelves get emptier… then the store closes. 42 Degrees Atlanta is in these final stages. What once was the premier stop in Atlanta for all things glass has become nothing more than another dying headshop pushing inferior products at a premier price and dramatically over-​charging for nicer items with an unwillingness to even negotiate. It’s no secret that markup in this industry is very high. Negotiation is the norm. If a retailer is unwilling to negotiate in this industry, then items will indeed sit until the end of time. I will not be returning to this place and would advise any collector to take their hard-​earned money elsewhere. If you’re really into Disc Golf, then this is the place for you! If not, avoid at all costs.

Awesome shop with a pretty nifty water pipe collection. Staff was knowledgeable of the products they carry. Also, the dude Shawn with the dark hair long beard is super hot and super friendly. Everyone there and everything they carry was all pretty rad. Being new from Southern California, I’m for sure making this my go to spot while I’m in Georgia. ONE LOVE!!!

This place has some cool merchandise, but everything is crazy expensive! The staff was not the friendliest or most knowledgable I’ve encountered, either. Parking was difficult – most of the lots around here are pay lots or street parking, which was full.
Overall, my experience here just felt «ok»

Awesome staff! Not sure his name, but the guy with a dark black beard and same color long hair was VERY helpful! Knew the answer to every question I asked and I am very happy with my purchase! Even got to meet a local glass blower — mouse — and he was helpful too. Great place, will definitely be back!

I was on a hunt for a hoop to get back into body hooping… I found a really cool company that makes hoops and holds classes in ATL. The only unfortunate thing was that they only shipped delivery and didn’t have a store front. I emailed them to find out where I could find a hoop without having to pay shipping fees and they directed me to 42 Degrees South.
When I walked into the store, I thought it was pretty neat. Reminded me of the little shops in San Francsico. I didn’t realize it was a smoke shop until I went to the back to pay. I was mesmerized by all of the beautiful glass work they had out. It took me a little bit to realize what kind of shop it was.
The guy behind the counter was pretty cool, I appreciated his kidness. While paying for my hoop, I noticed this really cool bong in the corner behind the cabinet. I pointed it out to my friend and then the counter guy corrected me by telling me it was a «water pipe.» — ummm okay? same thing, right? I guess not — because he advised that I could possibly get kicked out of the store for saying stuff like that. Great, I just ruined my chances of ever going back to that store! I don’t smoke, but if I did, I would totally come here and definitely learn some of the local lingual too. I’m just kidding — I will be back to browse the stuff in front of the store instead unless I need some pretty glass item to stage in my living room.

This place is like a small gem of a head shop in L5P and a dream– I’d imagine– for classy, metro stoners. The atmosphere is very serene and pretty, almost like a little gallery. It’s not sketchy at all like a lot of head shops.
They have gorgeous glass art works on display, clothes, and a wall full of frisbees. And of course they carry «tobacco» paraphernalia and seem to have a good selection of quality bongs (though I’m not exactly qualified to judge bong qualities).
They also carry hookahs and shisha, which were behind the counters and a little dusty. But hey, they were on sale, 2 for 1! The lady jotted down the sale in a notebook, which I thought was cute in a quaint manner.
The punch card is really generous. I was given a fully punched card moved away from the area, and I was pleasantly surprised by the good discount options. I’ll have to look up what exactly they are, but they were something like $ 25 store credit, 50% off a bong, etc.
Definitely worth swinging by!

This the BEST glass shop in Atlanta, hands down, if you havent been there, GO. Enough said.

42 Degrees… This place was legendary when I was younger… I always heard about this place as having an awesome glass selection, and you would always get 50% on your birthday… Even every ⁴⁄₂₀ they used to have 20% off everything in the store! 9 years ago, this was huge (before the emergence of head shops in the area).
This store is cool because in the front, they have all sorts of interesting art pieces and jewelery (which seems like there is almost something for every taste and price range). But lets be honest, I came here for the pipe selection– which is in the «back» of the store…
For an amatuer «tobacco» enthusiast, this place has everything you need, pipes, cleaners, vaporizers, bags, grinders, etc. But one time in the past I was told that they were selling un-​genuine Roor products (which sucks, because I bought 2 there!) — that kind of killed street cred with this place… And the fact there were shops opening closer to my house also had an effect. But for every birthday I had the past 9 years, I have gone every time to shop.
There used to be a guy that worked there I had seen him over the years, he always had wacky hair and was helpful, but had not seen him recently– maybe he was off– he was a saving grace here…
The most recent visit however, it seemed the glass was running a little low– I was kind of disappointed… Maybe the market isn’t there? I’m not sure… Then again I only heard of this place through word of mouth…
Another stickler is the parking. PLEASE PLEASE park around the back and ignore the junkie (this guy literally comes out of the dumpster, if you know him, my apologies but seriously?!) trying to take your money– just park behind the place… I have never given him a dime, and thankfully my car never got booted here… However at Seavanda (SP?), I once parked there was literally 10 minutes later I come outside and found a boot on my car… Biggest waste of $ 50 in my life…
If you are in the area, this place is always fun to check out, but mind you, they do not sell any tobacco (at least that I have seen), so if you are jonesing for a pack of smokes, keep walking…

So I don’t have much to compare it to, but I couldn’t expect much more out of whatever one might consider the standard. THE friendliest staff I’ve encountered in most establishments in the city, and they all know what they’re talking about.

Awesome selection of pendants, stones and water pipes. Best bet (and my go-​to) if you are shopping for a Roor, Illadelph or pHX.

The jewelry is amazing. The amber, citrine, and quartz are fabulous. I bought my friend a cool amber ring as a gift. The prices are okay, not too steep. The glassware in the front is random and not that cool, but if thats what your into… If you go in on your birthday you get somethin like 50% off. A friend of mine in college bought a bad a tobacco water pipe from here on his bday, originally $ 400. The pieces are pretty cool to look at but I dont really know why anyone would spend so much money, unless you were totally rich and thats what your into… they have pretty cool vaporizers i remember.
The best stuff in the store I think are the pretty rings.

I randomly wandered in here one night after eating at the Indian restaurant next door. I was shopping for a wedding present and saw all the glassware in the window and figured I might find something interesting.
I get the feeling that most of the sales and business here takes place in the rear half of the store which is dedicated to selling pipes, «tobacco» products, and all manner of glassware that you wouldn’t normally give for a wedding present. The entire staff was camped out in the rear of the store (18 and older only allowed back there) and seemed dumbfounded by someone shopping through the front half of the inventory and ignoring the pipes in the back. Maybe I was making them nervous.
Since I stuck to the front of the store, I can only comment on the non smoking inventory: it’s just kind of… meh. Nothing too different than you could find at the other shops in Little Five Points. Some of the decorative glass is cool, but overpriced for what it is.
Randomness: Saw three or four people come into the store and march straight for the back counter who were dressed in pajamas. Either that, or they really dig being comfortable in slippers and flannel PJ’s all the time. Who knows?
