AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care

This facility just changed hands. Stay away. Waited an hour. First tech couldn’t work the iPad she was to use in the exam room. She later had to refer to a manual to work the X-​ray machine which she called «old.» The tech who drew blood had to stick both arms. Then I spent all day in pain waiting for a prescription to be filled, as this place couldn’t fill out a form properly for the insurance approval. Wasted time and money since I’ll have to start over tomorrow with my primary care doctor. Not impressed!

I have to update my review after my second visit. This time I saw a different nurse named Essie who was very rude, impersonal, and talked over me while I was explaining my symptoms (mind you this was me simply naming 6 symptoms not a detailed story as I wanted to leave just as quickly as she wanted to rush me out) because of this the doctor had no understanding of what was going on since this was my second visit in 3 weeks and I still was not better. The doctor I saw was «ok» initially but did not listen when I told her this would be my 3^rd antibiotic and I was still very ill. She said verbatim «do you need a couple days off» to which I said maybe just 2 if this medicine doesn’t help quickly. I then asked her to check the status of my strep culture from one week ago and she assured she would and left. When the rude nurse came back there was no answer about the strep culture and a note off work for the day of my visit. The nurse wasn’t listening once again when I told her that I work night shift and wasn’t scheduled for that night and this note would be useless to me and I told her the physician had said «a couple days» and she rudely dismissed me saying «this is what it is this is what the doctor wants and it’s all you’re getting». I don’t think she talked to the doctor at all and likely printed off a standard letter which the doctor signed without being notified I needed the date on the letter written for one more day. The next day I was having a reaction to one of the prescribed medications and the same nurse answered the phone, she rudely told me that the medication would not be switched and that «a different doctor is in today she won’t be back for 4 days. You already have medicine and aren’t getting a new one». I told her that as a nurse myself I was appalled at her lack of compassion and her constant rude attitude to simple questions, that because of her I would not be returning. It’s unfortunate that this employee is ruining this establishment as most of the people are very nice but it only takes one miserable careless person to make you choose a new doctors office. Sorry AFM but this employee needs to be reviewed and removed. No one is going to pay to be mistreated and talked down to especially when they are ill and I will not be returning. Essie pick a new profession your horrible bedside manner is just as bad as your lack of medication knowledge that all drugs in the same class are not the same…

Unfortunately, I had to visit this office after being involved in a fender bender and I started feeling neck pain. However, the office staff made the experience a lot less irritating than expected. The staff was very personable and kind. And the doctor has an «excellent» bedside manner. Fortunately I have my own primary physician, but if I ever need urgent care, I will definitely return to this particular office.

Very nice doctor. Dr Haynes was efficient and actually listened to what I had to say. Very pleased with my treatment here. The office even called a feed days later to check on me and make sure I was alright. A rarity.

I visited recently because my outer ear had been red, swollen, and painful for two days. I was a walk-​in during a weekday and only had a short wait – maybe 15 – 20 minutes, including paperwork. The tech who took my vitals was nice, but Dr. Harris was very disappointing. I let her know that Benadryl and topical cortisone cream had had no effect on my ear and that I couldn’t pinpoint the cause of the issue. She looked at my ear for about 2 seconds (no, that’s not an exaggeration) and immediately said she didn’t know; it wasn’t the type of injury/​ailment they normally see at this location, and she guessed we would just treat it as an allergic reaction. Really? Because that’s what I had assumed, and I was coming to see her in order to get someone with actual expertise to try and help me figure out what to do about the issue since treating it at home as an allergic reaction hadn’t done anything. They gave me a steroid injection and called in a prescription cortisone ointment (which I never even picked up) and sent me on my way about 5 minutes after I was initially taken back. The steroid injection seemed to help, but whatever the case, my ear healed over the next week and is now back to normal, little thanks to Dr. Harris.
I will never go back to this location and am very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Harris. You would expect a medical professional to at least take a few minutes to thoroughly inspect an issue she’s not familiar with and try to problem solve, not just throw out a guess and treat based on that. Not only is that unhelpful, but it could potentially be dangerous to throw treatments at an unknown issue! Not to mention that it felt like I had thrown money down the drain for this visit.

I had to go there for a busted toe where the skin was off and the nail split in half. Had to wait a little which makes me give only 4 stars. The treatment itself deserves 5 stars! The staff was super friendly and helpful and Dr. Destito was really nice. He took care of everything and treated me really good. The next day he even called to check up on me. If I have to go to urgent care again I am definitely going there.

This is my third visit and the staff is always friendly, efficient, helpful and they offer many services unavailable by most family care practices. They really seem to care that they give the best medical services to their patients

Not caring .rude! Unsympathetic, inconsiderate & blunt. just to name a few! This doctor made us feel complete worthless!

I usually like this place, so I rushed to get there before they closed. It had become evident that my sniffles had turned into a full-​blown sinus infection. However, I found out the hard way not to expect compassion from them at 7:45, no matter how absolutely miserable I was. They were closing in 15 minutes and that was that. I’m not sick enough to clog up the emergency room, so I’ll just spend an agonizing 12 hours waiting for them to reopen in the morning while fantasizing about getting a sinus transplant.
You know, I’m old enough to remember when doctors made house calls. These days, you have to schedule your illness at a time that’s more convenient for the «caregivers.»
When they do see you, the care is good. I’m subtracting 2 stars because I don’t think an urgent care clinic should operate like a retail store.

I went in initially for a severe case of Paronychia (finger nail infection) and saw Dr. John Destito. I waited about an hour to see the doctor. The facilities were very clean and the front desk staff were cordial. Dr. Destito was very sympathetic and compassionate as he drained my finger. I appreciated his warm bedside manner as that is not always the norm for doctors.
My finger did not heal as expected and I ended up getting another infection. When I went back a second time on a Wednesday afternoon, the wait was only 20 mins. Dr. John was so surprised to see me again. He took a lot of time with me to ensure I was alright. He immediately had the team call to see if I could see a hand specialist that day. He even insisted on talking to the hand specialist to make sure they were doing all they could for me. They took x-​rays and worked extensively to drain my finger. The team was very compassionate and efficient. I appreciated the fact that Dr. John Destito went above and beyond to provide quality care for my finger.
When I got to the hand specialist he said that Dr. John did a great job of draining my finger. I highly recommend Doctor’s Express. I did not expect that I would get such great patient services from a Urgent Care facility but I was pleasantly surprised and would not hesitate to return. But hopefully I won’t have to!

The wait was pretty long to be seen by the nurse was long, but it was a breeze after that.

Everything about the office was decent. Staff not super friendly but competent. Facility is clean and modern. However I waited for over two hours before I was even seen. I was also annoyed because I came in right before two other people. Since I stopped by the day before, I already filled out form and provided it to the receptionist. The staff called me back to discuss my issue to determine if they could help me. Once they determined that they could they sent me back to the waiting room. To my annoyance BOTH of the individuals that came in after me, were seen first.
The Doctor seemed to be VERY NICE and COMPETENT. However, I would NEVER return or recommend this practice due to the long wait. It’s called AFC/​Doctors Express Urgent Care with the expectation of URGENCY!

Place is AWFUL. Rude, slow staff that does not care how soon you’ll be seen, even if you’re the first patient of the day. Do not recommend coming here whatsoever!

I had a painful case of paronychia (finger nail infection) on my pinky for approximately five days and finally figured I needed to get to the ER to avoid a spreading infection and more sleepless nights.
I found this place near my office and for the second time in my life, I didn’t go to a traditional ER. In the past I went to another walk-​in type quik clinic and found it to be a waste of time both figuratively and literally.
Not the case with Doctor’s Express, this place has real MD’s that can do real medical procedures. Not some place that tells you that they really can’t help and you need to go to the ER after getting and your running your credit card.
I’m not sure if this is typical, but my entire time spent from walking in the door to getting in the car to leave was a total of 45 mins.
45 min vs. 6+ hours for my last ER visit… and it was also much more affordable.
Just an FYI: I went at about 4:30 PM on a Wed.
The staff: Everybody was friendly… the admin at the front desk, both nurses I met, to the most important one… the doctor working on my finger… Dr. John.
Dr. John instantly put me at ease as he tended to my finger. He explained all of the procedures and was genuinely concerned about my pain and well being, even stopping a couple of times to make sure I was all good. I won’t describe the procedure because it’s gross, but John made this unpleasant matter much, much easier for me.
The waiting room and exam rooms are immaculately clean and very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone. Go here!

Wow!
I hurt myself over the past weekend because well, I’ve always been clumsy, and it has continued into middle age.
I absolutely HAD to go in to work on Monday, but I also absolutely HAD to get this injury looked at Monday after work. My plan had been to leave work, fight the traffic, and visit the Minute Clinic near my home. Then I remembered that Minute Clinic doesn’t help you, or give you anything, it’s more of a therapy appointment.
One of my staff members suggested this place. I checked them out online, but then realized there was a difference between Urgent Care and Minute Clinic. I was going to have to fork out $ 20 more for a co-​pay. I resisted, but my team insisted. I reluctantly went.
Got there, no one else in the waiting area but me. Good sign. A patient comes from the back, leaves. Nice lady, calls me up, takes my co-​pay. I wait. Staff is seemingly unbusy, as I hear chatting, and laughter for a bit.
Soon, someone calls me, I immediately see Dr. John, who was absolutely WONDERFUL, listens, examines, tells me what we’re going to do, gives me scripts for what I need, and asks me to come back for a follow up in 3 days! Wow! Urgent care that wants to see you again??? Get outta here!
I was in and out in less than 40 minutes, and felt well attended to by each and every staff member that I came in contact with. The MA’s were delightful! They had a way of carrying themselves and patient interaction that just sorta put one in a better space. I’ll definitely be back when I need them, and plan to refer all of my friends to THIS location!

Definitely the best experience I’ve had at a doc in the box in a while. I woke up with symptoms of a UTI & I didn’t want it to go into my kidneys as it has in the past. They got me in, vitals taken, and out with a prescription in under an hour. Dr. John didn’t talk down to me when I told him I knew I had a UTI. I’ve had doctors before tell me that I had no idea what I was talking about when I explained my symptoms and my medical history. He asked about what antibiotics I’d taken in the past. He listed a few and I stopped him when I recognized one of the names. He asked if I worked out frequently. I told him yes and he said he would give me the other one as the first one can increase the risk of tendon damage (?!). They called it over to the Kroger across the street and it was ready when I walked in.
We managed to snag a spot right outside the door, but they did offer to validate parking. They also said they would call and update my medication if the more comprehensive tests came back with a different strain than originally thought. They’ve also apparently extended their hours and are open from 8a to 8p every weekday. It’s also a less than 5 minute drive from my apartment. Next time I’m sick, I’ll definitely be going there.

Fastest I’ve ever been seen at an Urgent Care facility. Opens at 10am on Sat & we arrived at 11 with no appointment. Hubby was seen by Dr quickly & in and out with scripts in under an hour. Free Wi-​Fi is always a plus if you need to work while waiting. Free coffee & tea. Nurse Tech with the blue or green contact lenses was rude. She should do herself a favor & sharpen her bedside manners and listening skills. If she can’t do that, she needs to find another gig if she’s not happy with her job. When people come to urgent care, they are obviously sick and condescending comments do not help! Outside of that experience, we would visit Doctors Express again.

I’m sure this place is just fabulous as long as you don’t actually NEED any URGENT care within the listed operating hours.
We went there around 5:40 on a Saturday to be told that the medical staff had left for the day and that there was nothing they could do anyway.
I don’t typically give out one stars without actually having received any service but the fact that the medical staff at an urgent care
facility doesn’t even operate within listed hours just gets my dander up.
