Established in 1998, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is one of the largest pediatric systems in the United States. It treats more than 500,000 patients annually and operates multiple hospitals in Atlanta. The hospital features over 400 beds and has a staff of nearly 6,500 employees. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta specializes in the areas of asthma, gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, urology, surgery, and neuroscience and craniofacial disorders. It also has expertise in liver, heart, kidney, and blood and bone marrow transplants. The hospital has the Aflac Cancer Center, which treats nearly 300 cancer patients every year and approximately 1,500 children suffering with sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. Its Sibley Heart Center provides cardiac treatment services for congenital and acquired heart diseases to more than 30,000 children every year. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta maintains a location in Alpharetta, Ga.
