D&H Auto Service

I had asked a parts supplier who he would recommend as a place to get good, honest and fairly priced service on my Lexus (a combination that’s hard to find). D&H met all three. Billie the master mechanic does a wonderful job and the manager Mike is always more than fair. I have been to D&H several times now and plan on continuing going there for service. These are good folks and I highly recommend the service they offer.

I moved to Atlanta two years ago and was referred to D&H when I had some engine problems. Mike, the manager was great. Not only did they take me right away and have the problem fixed the very next day, the cost was very reasonable. I have taken my car there 3 more times for routine maintenance and minor problems and each time I received excellent service and price. It’s so nice to have a mechanic that you can trust who is not trying to add unnecessary costs. Thank Mike and all of the D&H workers.

As a single girl, walking into an auto shop can be very intimidating. D & H went above and beyond to help me understand the issues with my car and lay out all of my options. Their quote was a mere quarter of the amount that had been previously quoted by another local shop and they now have a new loyal customer in me! I took my Ford Focus to D & H at about 10 in morning, after my car’s ‘Check Engine’ light came on. That Engine Light Diagnostic was priced at $ 95.
Mike, the manager, called me much later at 4, to tell me that they diagnosed the problem, and two O2 Sensors needed to be replaced.
Next, day I took my car back again and, got the two sensors replaced, as well regular car servicing done. Changing Oil Filter, and Engine Oil too were moderately expensive at $ 38.

Great place to get your vehicle fixed. I needed brakes really badly. Because I’m a small business owner I have very little time to handle vehicle maintenance. Mike and his crew were able to squeeze me in with little notice and get them done for me asap. He let me know what else they can do to assist me (I own two large cargo vans and need maintenance done on them regularly throughout the year). I will be going back as its so important to me to have a car repair shop that I can trust. I recommend them for any car repair job.

I used these guys for years for various repairs on my Pathfinder. Mike was always honest — repairs were done on time and for a very reasonable price. Nothing glitzy about this place, so don’t expect to hang out there all day while they fix your car. Just and old garage run by good, honest people.

BE AWARE, these guys are your stereotypical con artist mechanics. These are the type of guys that give all mechanics a bad name. They quote fair prices on their parts and service but they reccommend parts and services you don’t need!!! I would not let them diagnose anything because they will try to rip you off. I have detailed my story below, but long story short. they quoted me a range of $ 1100 — $ 2200 to have my clutch replaced and couldn’t expalin how they came to that diagnosis.
Full detailed story:
I had an issue with my clutch and I took it to D&H, to get looked at (since it had good reviews). The first thing they did was check the fluid (which is the right thing to do). Once checking the fluid it was determined that there was no fluid. Next, instead of identifying where the leak was, they came to the conclusion that my pressure plate need replacing. (red flag #1) Initially, one of the mechanics put the car up on the lift and I saw him taking a crow bar to the bottom of my car then he calls me over to show me how a rod has been bent (red flag #2)
I’m an Engineer and know a little bit about cars. these guys are crooks. Especially Mike! They tried to sell me a new clutch and flywheel ~$ 2100, I told Mike that I didn’t want a new flywheel and I just wanted the old one machined, he said he didn’t think that was possible and asked the flywheel expert they outsource that work to, if machining vs. replacing was possible. OFCOURSE the flywheel expert said they CAN be machined (red flag #2). So now the price came down to ~$ 1100-​$ 2100 (depending on if my actual flywheel could be machined), but still these guys were telling me that I needed a new pressure plate and couldn’t expalin how they knew that without opening my transmission. My gears were never slipping (which is a sign that i need a new pressure plate). (red flag #3.and I’m out of there)
At this point, I took my car to another mechanic. The other mechanic put brake fluid in my clutch to see where the leak was from (this is what i expected D&H to do). The other mechanic determined it was my slave cylinder (which is external to the transmission in my car). The other mechanic also found a joint was broken and he said he couldn’t understand how that could have happened (hmm, I can only specualte what a crow bar could do!!!). So basically, the issue was not with my pressure plate.
I don’t usually write these reviews but i went to this place based on the good reviews, I found here, the people that wrote these other reviews are either clueless or know these crooks, do not trust this place and don’t go here! These guys are SHADY as it gets! By the way, Ken is the guy that greets you, he is very nice and I think he actually is honest but Mike I don’t trust even with your car.

Let’s admit it, no female wants to take her car to be repaired. The majority of us don’t know what it should cost, how long it should take or if we really need a «brake flush». D&H is an auto repair shop, zero frills. The 5 star rating is based on the value and customer service I have received in multiple visits. Each visit, I felt as though I was having my car serviced by family friends or an awesome uncle who wanted to look out for my best interest.
I have been to several of the fancy, smancy dealerships in Atlanta. I left knowing my wallet was assaulted and I had been upsold on unnecessary services. I have never left D&H with anything but confidence and a smile. I know the best compliment you can give a business is a referral. D&H is better than good; they are the best!
An earlier post mentioned the waiting room and length of time for the repair, both are exactly the reasons to go to D&H. You aren’t paying for a cozy lounge with a latte machine and zillions of dollars in inventory parts. You are paying for exactly what you need, auto knowledge and honest service!

I swung by here to get my oil changed and left disappointed. They don’t really have a waiting room to speak of, you basically just sit in a chair in their little office where it smells like smoke. I waited for a couple hours or so because they needed to get an oil filter part in… but they didn’t tell me that. I just sat waiting wondering why it was taking so long and when it might be done. It also cost about $ 40 which was the most expensive oil change I’ve ever had in my life. I will say that the guys who work there are very nice though.

Have a 2000 Honda Accord that needed a headlight bulb replaced. They had me in-​and-​out in about 10 minutes. Friendly and efficient. Couldn’t ask for better service!
