the kitchen never disappoints. we’ve had everthing on the menu and its all top notch. Their bar is a cool little spot as well.

I’ve been here at least three times and think it’s just so so. I got the buttermilk fried chicken and highly recommend it. The things that stood out was that the seating is awkward, the bartender was rude when discussing the wine choices… he actually made no sense, and the waiter informed us that we had to pay if we wanted more bread. Well it’s a pricey place and the servings aren’t big so I think they should offer the bread.

I’ve eaten here for dinner and lunch (different days of course). Both times were good. If I had to choose, I’d prefer lunch.
I had the country fried steak and thought it would be like any other country fried steak. Nope! Better! It sat on top of sourdough bread topped with gravy and onions and mushrooms. What a way to enhance a simple, all-​time favorite.

This is a pretty dependable farm to table eatery. I think the key to enjoying it to its maximum potential though, is to order something different every time you dine. Unfortunately I always order the fried chicken, as it never disappoints, & now I’m almost tired of it, & the chocolate cake! One may wonder how I could ever have (& meet) this type criteria, but wonder no more. It’s of Biblically epic paradoxical reality that I’m in this realm. Though I chose to celebrate my birthday (again) there for lunch this week with a dear friend, going forward I’m holding off from Food 101 for a while, though I do recommend it! Highly! & get the fried chicken!

I tried Food 101 for Sunday brunch. To start, I really liked the atmosphere. The restaurant had a cozy feel with rustic lighting and décor. It’s spacious with a large number of tables in the open floor and big, comfortable booths around the perimeter. Our waiter was extremely friendly. He greeted us warmly and checked in at regular intervals throughout the meal, making recommendations and ensuring that we had all that we needed. Now, on to the food. I ordered the crab cake BLT with a side of collard greens. I have to say that I was underwhelmed with the sandwich. The brioche toast described on the menu was nothing more then what seemed to be store-​bought white bread. The crabcakes were largely filler, absent of the fresh chunks of crabmeat that you’d like to see in a fresh crab cake. The collard greens were OK though a bit lacking in flavor. Overall, I’d be willing to try this place again to check out a different option on the menu.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. I’ve been going here since 2001 and have never been disappointed. They have a good mix of comfort food such as fried chicken and meatloaf. They also have more creative dishes as well, including chefs specials tat are well worth trying. Among my favorites are the scallops and the pork chops. My wife loves the pumpkin ravioli, which to her dismay, is a seasonal item. The Barrel Bar is has a great variety of bourbon and other spirits. They have a barrel aged Manhattan that is to die for, as is their barrel aged rye Manhattan.

Great concept: southern food (not overcooked!) and served up in style. The interior reminded me of a Texas twist on industrial chic and light fixtures appeared to be repurposed wine demijohns.
On the Sunday that my group of eight dined, barbecue was offered in addition to the brunch menu. A musician added to the atmosphere with acoustic guitar.
Alas, while the food looked picture perfect, especially the eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito, and low-​country boil, my party declared it to be bland. Even dishes traditionally spicy were «meh» in the mouth. Not even extra hot sauce could wake up my border-​town omelette. Did they skip the jalapeños? Was salt or butter forgotten in other dishes? Perhaps our taste buds need recalibrating, but I fear they normalized the seasoning for the lowest common denominator. Unless you have sensitive taste buds, ask for more sauce on the side and an extra set of salt shakers.

Came here for lunch and was very disappointed in the food. We started off with the pâté and it didn’t taste fresh at all, like it just came out of the freezer. They served it with super hard and stale bread (maybe from previous day?). The fish and chips were super oily and covered in batter with barely any fish. We had the chocolate cake for dessert and it just lowered my expectations even more — cake tastes like it came from a frozen pre-​packaged box.
The only positive upside was the service and interior is nice. The coffee was the only thing that tasted fresh.

Thursday at 5:30pm, table at the bar. Perfectly aervicable glass of Red. Unfortunately sarcastic bartender/​aerver without the skills to match. Ordered the «slab». Kitchen forgot half of it. Tasty once it all made it out. Sloppy presentation. Very nice explanations from the kitchen chap who was sent out to amend the mess. Didn’t get to enjoy it because the mains came out right on top of it. Very disorganized kitchen with chaotic pacing. (What’s it like during a Saturday night at 8p, the GS wonders).
Excellent Ny strip. Over salted spinach. Decent ahi on top of boring veggies. Duck ramen very good but mostly noodles. Octopus was perfect. Meal ruined by snippy bartender who was more concerned with upping our alcohol sales.
Elected to move alcohol consumption to new location with less BS (Buckheadness)
Fyi, the parking lot is slap full and car-​to-​car combat for spaces. Smokin on patio if you have a death wish. Go to Leon’s or Wrecking Bar for better chatucherie. Go to Argosy for good eats AND service on the right side of town.

My Husband and I had lunch here. He had the Shrimp and Grits. I had the Fried Shrimp Salad.
Each dish were simply delicious!
Will certainly return!

I love this place and everything about it. It takes all of the dishes you had at other restaurants and makes them BETTER! The atmosphere is a perfect mix of a neighborhood bar meets nice restaurant. The staff is pleasant and accommodating and there is an MSS on staff. Let me repeat, an MSS on STAFF!!! The bartender was was a perfect mix of grumpy grandpa and knowledgeable conscious, who made you laugh and want him to tell you the sectreats of wine. Although I was only there for 40mins I longed to be one of this regulars that he welcomed so that he could pair wines with me food every week. I will be going back.
Tip: Everything you order will be delicious and is well worth the price.

Great Service! Very attentive! Most importantly… Great Food! I loved the pork chop! It was juicy and cooked perfectly! I normally don’t order pork but I am so glad I took the chance! Also, the homemade strawberry ice cream was amazing. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely come back to try something else!!!

I use to eat at this restaurant somewhat often 2007ish-​2009ish and it’s too bad I can’t write a review for those experiences. I use to LOVE having an excuse to go there. It was one of the first restaurants I liked calamari at. They had this amazing giant burger with a fried egg that I use to dream about. I remember really a distinctly giant pork hash skillet with gooey cheese that melted in your mouth…
But then I moved to Philly and my family said that it started to go downhill. I reserved judgment because I hadn’t eat there recently, but I went a few weeks ago with friends for brunch and I was pretty disappointed. We were a party of I think 6 or 7 and came in at about 2:15. The restaurant was pretty empty — maybe 3 other parties there and a live music guy. Service was somehow super slow. We took a minute to decide but getting our food/​checks took soo long.
The food itself was ok, but the portions were out of control in the bad way. With that pork hash in mind I told my friends the hashes would be big, but ours came out on tiny, 6 inch or so skillets. I felt so bad for recommending them. I ordered a side of cheese grits (cheese was an extra like 75 cents for a literal slice of american cheese. Like it was identical to how they do cheese on your hashbrowns at waffle house.) and split a bacon waffle and I was just barely not hungry. Granted, I eat a ton, but I normally leave brunch at other restaurants full and hating myself.
Two people got chilaquiles and those were tasty (er than our skillets) but also a little skimpy on portions. The one thing that seemed like a winner was the benedict. My friend got crab cake benedicts and those were regular size benedicts with a side (grits because they were allll out of potatoes :()
I use to love this place and didn’t listen to the haters, but after my brunch experience I don’t know if I’d go back. Definitely not for brunch.

Every beverage and food I partaken in was excellent. Strawberry fields and Peachtree Heights cocktails were mixed very well. My lobster Cobb was awesome.

I really don’t get the hype here. Yes, the food was pretty good, but it was overpriced. The ambiance wasn’t anything special, and the menu selection was limited. Drinks were decent, but again, nothing special.
With all the restaurants in Atlanta, this has no differentiation from the plethora of other «local grown and raised» restaurants.

We come to this place a lot. It’s close to our office and they have a great patio for sunny days. They switch up their menu every now and then, which I like. It keeps their menu ingredients fresh and different.
I’ve had lots of their items. I really like the fish tacos and their salads. They have good sides too. I’ve had one or two things that I wouldn’t reorder but nothing that was terrible.
We get appetizers a lot and I feel like that part of their menu is lacking to my taste. Pickled shrimp: barf: The chips are good, as is the pimento cheese.
Their restaurant is really cool. I like the modern décor and interior layout. It’s a great place for business lunches and meetings. Their kitchen closes at three which has been inconvenient from time to time so you can only order from a limited menu but still worth trying.

Being busy multitasking types with children, we’re known to consume our entire meal before the servers can come to ask what we think of it. In order to extend our date nights, ensuring that the kids are actually asleep when we got home, we stop in to the Barrel Bar at Food 101 for a cocktail and something sweet.
The staff is friendly and professional. The cocktail list is fun, and features a lot of bourbon. The desserts are tasty too. I almost always opt for the seasonal fruit cobbler/​crumble in a cast iron skillet. Jimmy usually gets an old-​fashioned with one of the specialty bourbons.
I can understand why they’ve got the TVs, even the big screen for important sporting events (like March Madness), but I find it annoyingly distracting since it usually ends whatever conversations we’ve been having.

A group of friends and I dined here with reservations made in advance.
Yes, one of the few brunch places that takes reservations! They also serve lunch/​dinner as well.

Our waitress was very accommodating. We had 2 unexpected guests and our waitress was quick to make it all work out.
FOOD
Breakfast Club ($ 12) — This was delicious. It consisted of Fried Egg, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Arugula, Tomato, Duke’s Mayo, Brioche. Choice of grits or hash and I went with the hash.
Everyone else at the table were pleased with their dishes because it was all wiped clean so yeah. Great food and service!

Food 101 is a modern Southern farm-​to-​table restaurant located in Sandy Springs. It’s been in the Atlanta area for many years, previously located in Virginia-​Highland, and part of the «101 Concepts» network of restaurants which include Cibo e Beve, Smoke Ring, and Meehan’s. When it comes to New American farmstead cuisine in Sandy Springs, Food 101 is one of the only options.
The restaurant has a picturesque, contemporary, and open space. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. When the weather is nice, the bar doors open to create a relaxing open-​air bar/​patio. It’s a refined restaurant with a casual atmosphere. There are TVs at the bar, including a large projection screen. The main dining room has these cool elevated curved booths with exposed bulb light fixtures. There’s a room in the back which can handle large private parties of up to about 40 people.
Food 101 serves seasonal, local fare. I’ve been for dinner where prices for appetizers and small plates range from approximately $ 5 – 15 each and entrees range from $ 15 – 30 each. I’ve tried:

Of the Small Plates, my favorites are the Crispy Chicken Skins and the Beef Carpaccio. The chicken skins are like pork rinds, but better. They’re lighter, more delicate, and more flavorful. I like them fine without the accompanying sauces. The carpaccio is thinly sliced and savory. Generous portion of horseradish aioli.
The Pickled Beets and Butternut Squash plates are OK. The vegetables are fresh, but the dishes seem too «plain.» The Ahi Tuna Tostadas are nicely presented, meaty, and tasty. The Pimento Cheese is satisfying. It’s got a relatively coarse texture.
If ordering Bone Marrow, I recommend one order for every 2 – 3 people. The marrow is rich, fatty, gelatinous, and at times tendony. It’s best spread on a little piece of toast. The preserves add extra flavor. The Pickled Mussels are interesting. They’re served in a lemon broth with crackers and a sort of cocktail sauce on the side. It’s good stuff if you like mussels.
Of the «For The Table» plates, my favorite is the Chicken-​fried Georgia Quail, better known as chicken and waffles. The quail has been deboned, fried, and tastes like delicious fried chicken. Sweet syrup and a nice Southern touch with the collards.
The Duck Rillettes are alright. It’s like pâté. These rillettes seem a bit too salty. The PEI (Prince Edward Island) Mussels are alright too. They are small, but it might just have been the batch I had.
The Oysters Rockefeller are good. Nicely breaded and succulent. The Pear Tart resembles a pizza. I’m not a huge fan of this dish. The meat and cheese boards are par for the course. The appetizing speck is my favorite of the meats. The jerky, too tough. Of the cheeses, I do like the creamy goat cheese and the velvety brie. Excellent Marcona almonds are added as a bonus with the cheese.
The Kale Salad is fresh and crisp. The Duck Breast and Scallops are so-​so. The duck breast is sliced into several lean, hearty pieces. The meat is kind of tough. It’s a filling dish. The batch of scallops I had seemed overcooked. Rubbery and chewy. Good size though.
The desserts are decent. Without a doubt, my favorite is the Pecan Pie. The Apple Pies resemble empanadas, similar to the Creole Turnovers. The Bread Pudding is fine. The pumpkin flavor really stands out.

We came in for brunch, as recommended by a friend of mine i the area.
The patio seating was a great space, even on a rather hot day, it was nice and breezy, and loved the rustic tables.
We started out with the french onion dip and homemade chips. The homemade chips were perfection: light, crisp with just enough salt. Very well done! The french onion dip was pretty good as well.
I was torn about the Benedict options, but our server recommended the fried green tomato Benedict, so I went with that. I liked the tartness from the fried green tomatoes, but, the pepper jelly was a bit too sweet for me. (I do like pepper jelly, I think I was just me and this particular combo.) The egg was poached perfectly however.
I did try the bloody mary bar, and added a dash of this hot sauce and that, and took more than my share of green olives.
A little weird though, my friend ordered the unlimited mimosa, minus the OJ, but our server told us she was required to bring the OJ out anyway.
Had a bite of the chicken and waffles, and that was a miss. :(
