Georgia Power! Our power was out for 12 HOURS NOT THE TICKETED TIME OF EIGHT HOURS. I have a refrigerator full of rotting food and your b! tch squad boy Joshua called to let me know there would be no claim because «y’all don’t pay for anything less than 8 to 9 hours.»

Horrible service. They told me I couldn’t get a refund after I told them I was no longer moving into my apartment. I had no usage at all. I asked to speak to the supervisor they hung up in my face. I called back they «transferred» me to a supervisor and he wasn’t helpful at all. A complete waste of energy. The only plus is that I STOPPED the service before I committed long term to these scammers.

Excellent response to recent outage. Online tools are helpful — you can submit a form online, call them, or access a map of outages in the area.

This is a review of GA Power not the establishment. Okay, I got my first place on my own and went to review GA Power on Unilocal… the terrible reviews scared me to death. I heard horror stories of so many people complaining of rip offs and how their one bedrooms cost an insane amount of money I had not budgeted into my monthly cost.
Been here almost 6months and have never had over an $ 88 bill, for my one bedroom, even during the «rip off season (summer)». I have zero complaints!

I would never think that I will be writing a review about a company like GA Power, but I have dealt with them a lot in the past year, and I must say that I am impressed. I was always able to reach them fast and it seems that everyone working there is super nice. If there is a problem then I feel they really want to help. My bills are normal. Yes, maybe they are higher recently, but it’s because I have been using my AC like a crazy person. I think a lot of companies and their customer service should be trained with the same people GA Power hires. As a foreigner, I can say that they represent what other countries think of the U.S. customer service.

Tried to call to get access on the account on a weekend, rather them saying call back I listened to 20 minutes of advertisements from other companies, thanks for wasting my time.

They’re the most useless, bullying power co I’ve ever dealt with.
Extra deposits, holds on accounts, even if you have NO history with their co.
They don’t give a crap about you, and surely won’t try and make your move easier.
If it’s GA power where you are looking to rent, pay more money per month at a place that doesn’t let them fuck people over. It’ll still save you hundreds a month, and hours of saved time.
I hope everyone that works there looses their job, and serves fastfood the rest of their pathetic lives.

Terrible im somehow paying more taxes and bullshit fees than any other service out there. When did ga power be allowed to just arbitrarily fee the fuck out of us?

Terrible company — they gouge their customers on late fees and tack on deposits without notice (apparently the fine print in the monthly bills lets them do it).Avoid this company if you have a choice, although who else are you going to go to in Atlanta. I would give them a negative star rating if I could.

Terrible company. I moved and provided them my new address. I received a bill for 30 dollars after I had closed my account and then 2 days later received a collections notice with an extra 7 dollars added. Nice business practices Ga Power. Glad I don’t have to use them anymore.

Georgia Power’s Website for online payments needs an overhaul. It’s antiquated! if you key in a wrong digit it will let you make a payment and week (s) later you find out that there was a problem/​error. And by then you have a late fee and/​or a disconnection notice sent to you in the mail! GA Power improve your website!!!

I have lived in 7 states in the last 25 years (Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Maine, Alabama, Rhode Island, New York, Georgia) and dealt with 7 different electric power companies (Pennsylvania Power & Light, PECO, National Grid, PSE&G, Alabama Power, Central Maine Power, and Georgia Power). Of all the electric utility companies that I have had personal experience with — Georgia Power is definitely the best in several aspects.
1. Customer Service — Georgia Power answers their phones more quickly that any other power company I’ve dealt with. Yes, you still have to go through the annoying voice prompts and automated crap. But… if you have never dealt with PECO customer service during an average day then you don’t know what awful customer service is.
2. Rates — Georgia Power rates are lower than any other electric rates in any other state that I’ve had the pleasure (NH) or horror (RI) of living in, with the exception of Alabama Power but then again everything in Alabama is cheaper except for booze.
3. Billing /​Payments — With Georgia Power; E-​Bills, no paper, auto draft from my bank account on due date. I literally don’t even think about my electric bill. Of course if you don’t pay your bill on time you are going to incur additional fees and maybe have to pony up a security deposit. Duh… that’s Business 101.
4. Outages — During a recent outage I contacted Georgia Power to inform them of the outage. After about a 5 minute wait time to speak with a rep I was told that they were already aware of the issue and that the electricity would be restored by 6 p.m. In actuality the power was back on by 5:30 p.m. (you wanna talk about outages — then try and contact Central Maine Power during a blizzard and outage in January — Good Luck!).
In summary — electric utilities can be miserable to deal with but some are much worse than others. I am very happy with Georgia Power simply because they have exceeded my expectations in several areas based on my own past experience.

I want to report the business, Georgia Power due to billing issue… This is the 2^nd bill that was over $ 580 since January 2014. The January bill was $ 277.00 and February bill is now $ 305.00. I was willing to pay the full amount for January, as we expected that our electric bill would be back to normal. Because the billing amount was over $ 300 for the month of February, I called and spoke with Brenda last night around 10ish and she kept saying that the central heater was running and I told her that we have NOT been using central heating. Plus my partner has 2 jobs and I have been working part time job and neither of us was rarely home and there was no way to have much electric running. There was a lot of disagreement over the phone so my partner and I kept trying to figure out HOW the electric that high on Google which we knew TV, laptop, fridge, space heater should not be able to bring the electric bill up to $ 305! She said she would send me an email for the usage and we never received email from her. Until this morning around 8ish I spoke with Sonya and asked to speak with supervisor to solve this issue before I reported them to BBB and a person name Tina who was supervisor still refused solve anything and kept saying we weren’t home and accused us of leaving the electric running such as fridge and the central heating (which it is off) and I told her that I will report her to BBB because this has to STOP as I feel that Georgia Power is price gouging, charging the incorrect amount, or not reading the meter correctly. Here are the pictures as proof that Central Heat is still off with date printed and proof of pay stub that I have been working the whole time. In January I have been working 87.51 hours in January and I am going to print February pay stub and figure out the hours I have been working the whole time. I told them this was foolish and electric bill should not be over $ 580, especially if the electric is we rarely used! Called HQ in ATL and spoke with Gaydrea Brown still not solved! BBB is now working with Georgia Power.

Georgia Power does NOT do things when they say they will do them. You have to hound them to death to get anything done, especially when it involves a branch sitting dangerously on a power line. Fuck this shitty company.

They are Georgia Power. What can I say? As far as energy and utility providers they are average. What I don’t like is the customer service. They are slow to answer the phones and when I have had to call them it has been hard to get my point across to the attendants. You really don’t have many options so you might just have to use them.

It feels a little weird to love a utility company, but hey, I’m a weird kind of girl.
I love Georgia Power. It makes me feel even luckier to live in Atlanta.
Yes, my power goes out *all* the time, but that’s because I live in a ridiculously beautiful neighborhood with old trees, so it’s the price I pay. But you know what? Georgia Power always gets the power back on with the quickness, usually well before their estimated time that they so handily post online.
But what really sealed the deal for me was transferring my account when changing houses. They’ve made it SO easy and the customer service I’ve received online and over the phone has been super friendly and helpful. I assumed I’d have to pay some sort of deposit for my next account, but nope, just a $ 30 change fee. You can overlap your accounts over two addresses for up to 45 days, they told me what day the current tenants at my new address were discontinuing service so there’d be no overlap there, and they even have a super handy «how are you using your power» survey on their website that’s super cool for energy saving nerds like me.
I love that I can auto pay. I love that I can do everything online. I love that you can opt-​in to use only renewable energy sources. I love it all!

From a residential customer and landlord standpoint, I think Georgia Power is a pretty good power company. After 10+ years of paying bills to them, I really have no complaints.
I’ve lived in condominiums in Midtown and Atlantic Station, where the cables for the power lines run underground. Therefore, I’ve rarely encountered power outages. And even when the power has gone out, it’s only for a brief period of time (minutes at most).
I find Georgia Power’s online bill pay well-​organized and easy to use. I like that I can view my energy usage on a monthly basis over the past 12 months. I bet none of you can beat 52 kWh of usage in 24 days during the middle of summer! My total power bill for that month was an eye-​popping $ 12.47. (Something definitely went wrong there.)
As for the bills themselves, the information is laid out in an easy-​to-​read fashion. Everything you need is presented concisely on one page. Once I set up my personal checking account information into their system, payment is a matter of mouse-​clicks.
I work in the energy industry and have heard over the years Georgia Power has relatively good rates for its residential customers. I’m not complaining because my personal power bills have never been unreasonably high.
From a landlord perspective, I think Georgia Power does a good job of taking care of its customers who own properties and rent to others. If you own a rental property, complete and submit a copy of their «Landlord Agreement.» Once you have this agreement on file under your name and property address, you never have to bother calling Georgia Power again when tenants move in and move out.
When tenants move in, they call Georgia Power and get the power bill transferred to their name (and pay a $ 30 transfer fee). When they move out, they call Georgia Power and the account is automatically changed back to the landlord’s name at no cost. Convenient.

When you’ve been in a relationship for 10 years it gets easier and easier to say «I love you.»
I LOVE YOU GEORGIA POWER! Seriously. You’re the best public utility, ever. Well, let’s say you’re the best public utility in the Southeast. I say that because you could do so much more with cleaner fuels. I mean, is all that coal really necessary? You and I both know it’s not, but I digress…
I totally agree with other comments about service interruptions during storms. Even light to moderately heavy rain (no lightning or high winds) can knock out power. I never had that problem living in Buckhead, but Midtown is another story. I love our trees. We need more of them, actually. But there’s gotta be a better way. Bury the power lines. Yes, it’s expensive, but Atlanta is growing and changing. It would be easy to require developers to pay for moving them underground as they turn parcels. Plus, all those power, phone, and cable lines don’t add much to the curb appeal of any property.
Sometimes it takes losing something to appreciate it. Have you ever relocated in metro Atlanta and had to deal with another provider? Marietta Power and Water comes to mind. They require a $ 200 deposit of pretty much everyone just to establish service. It’s lower if you have 12 months of good payment history with them. Otherwise there’s no compromise. I’m sure there’s also a connection fee, but I’m not sure what it is. The most GA Power ever charged me for a deposit was $ 50 and that was when I moved into my first roommate-​free apartment. The connection fee is only $ 22. Need to transfer your service? They can do that… and it’s only $ 11.
Their rates are among the lowest in the country and they are so flexible with making payments that I almost think they’re stupid. Don’t quote me on this, but you can go several months without paying before they cut off your power. At that point you can really only blame yourself (even if you were unemployed that’s ample time to pay your power bill). Marietta Power and Water will cut you off in a month. So will GreyStone. Plus it will cost you a deposit plus reconnection fees to get your lights back on. I’ve managed apartment communities all over the region and I’ve seen it time and time again. Very sad situation for working families.

I’ve never had issues with Georgia Power. I’ve moved multiple times, and it has always been easy to get the bill changed to the proper name, and almost instantaneously. They’ve even pro-​rate for the day that you assumed ownership, even if you didn’t call on that specific day.
I’ve also had to deal with a few outages in my neighborhood. The first was a relatively minor one where the power was restored within 1.5 hours. I’d called the hot line, reported the outage, was told by the automated service that power would be restored within a certain time, and that they would call back to confirm. It was about bed time anyway, so I just crawled under the covers to wait for my call. Sure enough, the power came back on well within the estimated window, and I got the automated call to say that power should’ve been restored.
Unfortunately, the 2^nd incident was more complicated — I actually saw the circuit breaker (or whatever it’s called on the much larger scale) on the power pole across the street from my house explode during a storm. I called immediately to report loss of power, but the hot line doesn’t have an option to report comments like «I saw hardware on the pole break that’s going to require a truck to replace.» So this time, I knew the time estimate for restoration was inaccurate. I kept calling every few hours to report, and the estimates did in fact get longer, probably because much of the metro area had lost power. It was fixed within 18 hours (probably sooner, but I was at work, so I can’t confirm the exact time). That was soon enough for me.
