Amazing. After, literally, months of being jerked around, my issue is addressed within six hours of posting to social media/​review sites.
Hey, Half Off Depot… it should never have reached this point and I will not retract my previous post simply because you decided to do damage control.
(This was written in after my 2013 review but I forgot to hit the submit button)

I have never had a bad experience using Half Off Depot for more than a year now. I’m sort of confused about the complaints I am seeing. I always print my coupon as soon as I order it. If you have a printer, just print the coupon. Otherwise I guess you’re stuck with snail mail.
My only complaint is with the mobile app where users can’t purchase then use their coupon from their smartphones. Other apps that offer deals allow that. HOD, Its not hard to implement. whoever designed your app can come up with such a solution. This is primarily why ScoutMob gets so much more of my business. I can use deals while on the road.
I’d give 3 or 4 stars if that mobile app issue went away.

According to the Better Business Bureau Customer Complaint logs, the only way to get your money back is to file a BBB claim and you may get better customer service. But after I get my money back on the Android tablets I never received, I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!

Good ‘olé Half Off Depot (HOD) what can I say. I could talk about some of the great buys and numerous purchases saving me hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the years. Or maybe I should talk about all of the friends and family I’ve referred so they could enjoy your spoils. But I also have to mention how many vendors have gone out of business before the vouchers were removed and the headaches I’ve had trying to get a credit (not a refund because it’s always beyond the refund time frame).
But all-​in-​all, I like this social buying site but in my opinion, they need help in 2 areas:
1. A better and more interesting variety vouchers — Tantra and Mango’s Caribbean are only interesting for so long before you wished they offered deals to other dining establishments.
2. Better website design — Come on guys, invest some of that venture capital into a custom skin for your site. Yes your design is functional, but it’s far far far from appealing.
FYI, it’s 50% most of them for Memorial Day weekend and they have a decent mobile app.

I ordered an Otter Box through VP Professional Corp on 3.7.13, and yet to have received my product as it is WAY past the 3 – 4 window as promised. Half Off is still running this deal, so BEWARE!!!
When I emailed Half Off Depot on 4.10.13, I received an email on 4.12.13 stating, «Order has not shipped.» I immediately asked for a date, and was told, «waiting reply from staff.»
I redemed my voucher through VP directly, so I have gone to them as well. Both Half Off Depot and VP Professional Corp ONLY take EMAIL requests. No live person? When going through my email confirmation from Half Off, it states they will give a refund 5 days after purchase. WHAT??? Ummm, I haven’t received my product nor have I have gotten any real answers, and you won’t refund my money. There’s something wrong with this picture!
You all may be cheaper, but this is not worth my time.

As others have stated, the prices are wonderful. I’ve gotten certificates for as low as $ 5 but redeemed for $ 20 at the restaurant. It turned out to be a lot of food for $ 20. You just have to catch them on 1 of their «sales», which is actually going on right now. 50% off almost everything.
I’ve been shopping with them since October 2012 and have spent a pretty penny on everything ranging from skating to restaurants to phone accessories, etc. Mostly restaurant vouchers, though. The prices are WAY better than Livingsocial or Groupon anyday!

The customer service is horrendous. I bought a certificate to a gym, which had all these wonderful perks on the certificate, but once I called the gym, I was told different. A woman quickly told me that they were in a dispute with HOD about what was really supposed to be offered. Huh? How does that even happen? HOD just adds all the perks they think we should have without the gym’s consent? Man, I dunno. All I know was I became annoyed and knew I would need a refund.
Employee on the phone: «I’m so sorry, ma’am. You can call HOD and tell them that you’re sick right now and your health is failing. That’s what this 1 woman did, and they refunded her back.»… Dafuq? Sigh…
Half Off Depot does not have a customer service number, so don’t even try it. Nobody ever answers it, even during business hours. You must submit a ticket via the website.
Long story short, it took them 2 weeks to even answer me, and the man’s response was that he had to request the refund from his supervisor. I snickered when I read that. I actually looked up towards the address and thought about what the employees would do if I showed up for the refund instead… I blasted them on Facebook about the fake customer service number and immediately got a response (even though they promptly took the post down) ha. Refund hit the next day. I think I’ll stick with the smaller vouchers from now on.
2 stars for the lack of customer service. Yes, the prices are good, but if one needs to get in touch with them, one shouldn’t have to wait half a month to hear back.

Customer service is lacking. When I had an issue with a voucher they took weeks to get back to me. They also don’t honor the gift certificates beyond the expiration date as Groupon and Livingsocial do. They are now only have national product deals in the Michigan market and that killed it for me because the deals started to dwindle into only cheesy national deals. They seem to do better in the city that they are located in.

Great prices on vouchers. They are actually cheaper than Groupon and other sites. The reason for that is because their customer service stinks. The website only gives the option of contacting customer service via email. Good luck with that!
3 – 4 stars for the deals. 1 – 2 for customer services. They get an average of 2 stars.

Half Off Depot (HOD) is a TERRIBLY run company… they will never be as experienced and well run as Living Social or Groupon… If one of your businesses goes down the tubes you are STUCK with the purchase or they give you an in-​store credit…
The bottom line… STAY AWAY… I’ve had a lot of issues with missing merchandise, shady companies going out of business (my car detail business totally ripped HalfOffDepot and me off)… the bottom line is that HOD is mnot worth the time and deal.

Half Off Depot is a great example of why Unilocal should allow reviewers to give zero stars.
From my experience, I’m actually fairly convinced that this entire company is some sort of elaborate scheme or fraud to swindle people. The «deal» I bought for sixty-​some odd dollars (which included a 20% discount I found online) were two plane tickets to a vacation destination, with the caveat that we stay in one of the sponsoring hotels. Easy breezy, right? Nope. Tried to make reservations, and the codes didn’t work. Didn’t hear back from the retailer for in excess of six months. Tried sending multiple communications and called over a dozen times. Nada.
And now, Half Off Depot refuses to give us a refund, telling us instead that «not to worry, our codes are finally working.» I bought the deal 9 months ago. Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service from both Half Off Depot and the retailer. Terrible. Also, I stupidly bought two of the deals, so I’m $ 132 dollars out that I will never see again. It’s infuriating.

When I was initially introduced to the whole concept of deal websites last year (yes, I was obviously late in the game…), I went a little crazy with them. Within a span of two months, I had bought seven deal vouchers — $ 112 — for $ 334 worth of food, services, etc. That was on Half Off Depot (HOD) alone…
Some of my favorite deals from HOD were:
* Two Hours of Bowling, Shoe Rental and Popcorn for Up to Six at Oasis Bowl ($ 74 value for $ 20)
* Unlimited ‘Feel the Burn’ Classes (for the month of October 2011) at Urban Body Studios ($ 129 value for $ 29)
* Cactus Car Wash Ultimate Car Wash Package (25% of Proceeds Go to Susan G. Komen Foundation) ($ 29.95 value for $ 14)
* Ticket Admission to Dialog in the Dark Atlantic Station ($ 26 value for $ 13)
Although I never had issues using my deal vouchers, I have had to contact Customer Service at one point and have to admit that it was annoying that I couldn’t just pick up the phone and call a live person. I had to submit a ticket through the «Support» link, and then the back and forth of emails was annoying.
Recently, I downloaded the HOD iPhone app so that I could easily keep up with their deals. Unfortunately, there have not been any interesting or especially great deals lately. It seems like they have had the many of same deals for the past two months or so, and I’m still waiting for a good one to pop up again.
Overall, Half Off Depot gets 3.5 stars (rounded down to 3) for their occasional good deals and ease of using the vouchers. I would have given 4 stars if I had written this last year, but the lack of great deals recently and «Support» ticket system (vs. customer service phone number) have knocked off ½ a star. Hopefully they’ll be able to get some great deals in soon because I can’t imagine that business has been good for them lately when competitors, such as Groupon, have had some awesome deals lately.

Compared to their competitors, half-​off depot has coupons that are very cheap! However, these coupons may not be for the most reputable or best companies. Half-​off depot does not do a good job vetting their partners. They probably just accept anyone that agrees to give them a discount. To this end, once you buy a coupon, many companies may refuse to honor them and/​or place heavy restrictions on their use. I think half-​off depot fails to defend their customers (i.e., either reimburse customers for coupons that were not honored by companies or refuse to do business with low quality companies).
Also, half-​off depot is not the best coupon website out there in terms of customer service. If you have any issues with your purchase after you have already paid, don’t expect to get helped. After your money is out of your pocket that is it. Compared to their competitors, half-​off depot would be the worst for customer service.
With all of the other 5 star options on the market, there is no reason to stick with this 2 star coupon site.

If I could give Half Off Depot zero stars, I would. This is a shameful business that should be avoided at all costs.
I ordered a $ 10 gift card to Lowe’s from Half Off Depot on July 8, 2012 and received a voucher that said I would be emailed a instructions for redemption, as well as an order confirmation, within 48 hours. A week later, I hadn’t received either, and was concerned because I knew I only had until the beginning of August to redeem my gift card. I contacted Half Off Depot via their online tracking system, and received a response four days later from Elena suggesting that I was confused and did not understand how to redeem my voucher. No, there was no confusion — I read and reread the only piece of communication I had ever received from Half Off Depot stating that I would receive instructions and a code within 48 hours, which never happened. Nonetheless, Elena claimed to process the redemption for me and said I should receive the gift card in 7 – 10 business days.
I’ll cut a long story short. It’s now October 10, 2012 and I have emailed Half Off Depot FIVE times looking for either the gift card, or more recently, a refund. I have spoken to Rachel, Janie and Elena again, none of whom seem to be able to competently process an order or provide satisfactory customer service. My favorite was Janie, who told me she had placed a store credit in my account (as if I would EVER purchase anything from this sham of a company again), but when I went to My Account a full week later, it displayed a $ 0 credit. Great follow through.
Since Half Off Depot is refusing to provide a refund, I ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and would encourage others to do the same. It’s disgusting that this company has been able to get away with unfulfilled orders and poor customer service for so long.

I agree with all the other reviews. If it is a positive review, it is clearly written by the employees or someone associated with them. (Of course! All the reviews are from Atlanta. What do you think?)
I ordered 6 fandango codes through this website. I redeemed two of the codes, within the 30 days. It took like a week to get the codes. When I try to redeem the other codes, I realized I passed the voucher expiry date (30 days). So I logged a support ticket. I didn’t had any reply for 4 days.
Finally, I got their phone number through better business bureau. Its funny, they don’t have their customer support number on their website. So, I called the customer service and the lady I talked with said, she cannot process a refund — Since I passed the 30 day deadline.
I said I used two codes and I am asking refund for the remaining codes. So, I come under their 30 day refund period. She realized I was right, apologized and I got the refund for the remaining unused vouchers.
Deep discount sites like Groupon or Living Social has a policy that, if you pay for a voucher, the promotional value will be there for the advertised period. Whereas, the money you paid (For eg. you paid $ 10 for a $ 20 deal), it will not expire for a period of 5 years.
But half off depot, does not honor these codes. It is time that, they might go under a lawsuit, like what Groupon went through.

I’m a huge fan of Groupon, Living Social, and the many other coupon sites out there but this one is HORRIBLE! I don’t buy the local gift certs because it’s based in Atlanta but I’ve bought several items from this site and every single item was a huge headache! Customer service is nothing but a computer generated canned response. I had to contact them over 10 times to find out where the bed sheets were that I ordered 9 weeks ago. They finally gave me the company’s phone number and my order was just sitting in the computer on hold for no apparent reason. Took me about 12 weeks to get them.
Same issues on everything I’ve ever ordered. This company sucks and the companies they respresent to sell goods are just as bad. The money saved is in no way worth the headache!!!

My complaints are pretty much covered by the other negative reviews so I’ll be terse. 1) deceptive advertising: They used a picture of a competitor’s product for the knockoff they were selling; 2) poor customer service; 3) they obviously don’t verify the merchants whose vouchers they sell. (businesses should at least have working phones)
I’ve had too many negative experiences with HOD. I’ll be using the vouchers I already have and deleting my account. ASAP.
Stick with Groupon and Scoutmob.

Like some other customers I would give this a zero or less. This site is a consolidator for deals and they should be 100% customer service driven. I had ordered something on the 7^th of May and was sent a voucher that did not work on the vendor site.
There is no telephone number on their website to call and you have to submit a ticket. After three days I googled on
and got a number but no one answered. I finally got someone the next day who just said we can refund your money… I wanted the product or else I wouldn’t have ordered it. While I was on the phone there were several women talking about a party they were at over the weekend and how much they drank and didn’t feel like working. NO WONDER there is NO SERVICE.
I sent a complaint email to them which resulted in their «customer service» probably the same person I finally talked to on the phone emailing back and saying sorry again, but never gave me a supervisor name or number to call back on.
I finally just filed a complaint with the BBB. I would waive off anyone using this site. Go to Groupons they are very responsive on customer service matters, you can speak to someone right away and there is no problems. HALF OFF DEPOT stinks!

for $ 18.99. And was aware of the $ 17.99 shipping cost.
I came accross an issue with the shipping charges. It was advertised as $ 17.99 shipping. When I went to redeem the voucher, I noticed the shipping cost is $ 19.98 (not $ 17.99). I have no choice but to pay $ 19.98. I was really bummed out about this.
Immediately, I submitted a help ticket thru HOD website and within 1 – 2 business day, Lisa Morrell from customer support contacted me. Due to the error of advertisement, she offered me a full store credit ($ 18.99) onto my account. Wow! Great customer service! Basicly, I got the item for free and only pay shipping cost. There was no refund, but the store credit works for me. I’m satisfied. I will definitely use this credit to purchase another great deal.
I received the order in one week. I bought it as a gift and he loved it!!! Thanks HOD!
(Btw, after this incident, they did correct the shipping cost to $ 19.98 on their website.)

Half Off Depot, based in Atlanta, is like Groupon and LivingSocial in that you have to pay upfront for your deals. Over the past twelve months, I’ve purchased six Half Off Depot deals and used four of them so far. The gift certificates have worked without a problem and I’ve been very pleased. Here are some examples:
Atlanta Hawks game: I bought five tickets at half price and had five gift certificates emailed to me by Half Off Depot. I printed out each one and took them with me to the Philips Arena box office. I handed them to the salesperson behind the ticket window and he handed me five game tickets in return. Oh yeah, and these were for playoff games.
Chamber of Horrors (a haunted house behind The Masquerade): Same deal. I showed up with gift certificates in hand and the lady behind the sales counter stamped our hands and let us in.
Com Dunwoody Vietnamese Grill: When it came time to pay our bill, I handed our server the gift certificate. He applied the discount and it was reflected on the check.
Ice skating at the Rink at Park Tavern: I handed the certificates to the lady at check-​in and she asked us for our shoe size so she could get the right ice skates for us.
Two deals I’ve yet to use include a show at Whole World Improv Theatre and a churrascaria dinner at Sal Grosso Brazilian steakhouse. The expiration dates for these deals are generally pretty far out (months) so you have plenty of time to use them. Based on these experiences, I have to give Half Off Depot five stars. It’s an easy-​to-​use service that has saved me money. Thanks, HOD!

Thanks to Half Off Depot, I have bought certificates for everything from housecleaning, to spa services, to car washes, to Medieval Times, to Doc Chey’s (plastic debit cards!), to Shakespeare tickets, to ballet tickets, to, well, I think you get the idea for 50% off or more. They do a great job keeping a varied inventory, though lately they have been falling into the same trap as Groupon and living social and featuring places in Lawrenceville, Cumming, and McDonough as «Atlanta» deals. Sorry folks at HOD, not Atlanta!
I have had a few snafus with my orders, such as receiving products that had restrictions that had not been noted on the item description online. However, after alerting customer service, these issues have always been resolved speedily and to my satisfaction. Most recently, a business closed before I got to use my certificate (a $ 79 one at that), and HOD refunded the cost to my credit card within six hours of my initial refund inquiry.
I also appreciate that unlike their competitors, the majority of their certificates are available to print within moments of purchase, instead of having to wait to hit a minimum sold or for the 24 deal period to close. Additionally, while HOD does offer a special deal of the day, the majority of their inventory sticks around much longer, reducing the urge to overspend based on perceived scarcity.
