A terrific manager’s office, but you almost never see the owner or wait staff there. I started going to Heisel’s office a few months ago. I was initially impressed with the terrific view of the downtown Atlanta skyline, proximity to my cubicle, and spartan yet modern décor. However, I’ve recently found it hard to visit. The proprietor is often found outside the restaurant brooding over his neighborhood competitor — Kan Ban Sushi. He’ll go all Seinfeld soup Nazi on you if you ask what the daily candy special is – asking if you need a card or are blocked(?!). It’s really kinda weird. That said, the daily candy special is still very good. I just wish the neighborhood hipsters that work in the area wouldn’t swarm the place everytime he announces a new special. Often, I’ll get to Heisel’s office only to find out that the candy special is sold out. I also updated the price range on the cuisine at Heisel’s office. He recently brought in a Ted’s Montana Grill executive chef to redo the menu. Right now, he’s only offering the heavier fare on Fridays. Still — it’s no longer a free snack here — we’re talking $ 13+ lunches. I’m hoping that will change soon with the owner getting back to his roots — pretzel M&Ms and Reese’s Pieces. Last comment — while the spartan décor was initially a draw, I’ve discovered that it makes it really hard to go to Heisel’s office for a large lunch meeting. There’s only really seating for 3 – 4, but often you’ll go there and have to crowd in with 7 – 8. It’s standing room only. Heisel’s office is still a great place to go, and I really just hope they work through these issues. I would be heartbroken if he packed up and went to Birmingham to sell Cuban sandwiches.

I’ve visited Heisel’s office at its previous location on Marietta St, and while the location was more open, it was noisier and with too much foot traffic, so the change in scenery is much appreciated, and the higher elevation has improved the views drastically from simply staring at a wall or other people. Though the vegan options are very often non-existant, the atmosphere and quality of both the service and staff is excellent. I would recommend a visit any time and plan on returning.

From time to time, I find myself with a craving for M&Ms or Starburst Jelly Beans or Cocoa-covered almonds. The very nice thing about Heisel’s Office is that it’s within easy walking distance of where I work. And it’s not just a place for quick snacks, either – I can come here for technical mentoring, career insights, and even movie recommendations. Sadly, it’s yet another place which will keep me from goal of having six-pack abs.

In my day, Heisel’s office was a desk. Now it is a whole room. With windows. Some things stay the same: a mug full of candy for your blood sugar crashes, a friendly ear during your work meltdowns. Don’t miss the homemade baked goods that appear from time to time. It’s an easy walk from my cubicle and convenient to the Peachtree Center MARTA station.
