InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta Hotel

Rooms are ok, but place is outdated and seriously overcharged for room. Told me I had two queens when I asked for a king, but I’m pretty confident it was two fulls! I’m too old to sleep in a child size bed, especially for the kind of money I paid!!! Crappy coffee in the room. More importantly is that for two nights in a row, it took three long phone rings to get someone on the phone to do a wake up call. Could have been asleep ten minutes earlier if this wasn’t the case. Super annoying when I’m beyond tired. If I wasn’t ripped off, I would have given three stars, but since I paid NYC for Atlanta basically burbs, I gave it two.

Already, I don’t enjoy hotels, so take my review with a grain of salt. My room had a constant humming going on in the background, all night. Can’t tell you how much that bothered me, and I’m one who requires decent sleep. I don’t want to be too rough, they had decent service, but I paid too much for too little, and with the terrible sleep and slow room service, I can’t possibly encourage anyone to stay here.
Again, I am biased, please think twice and consider the other reviews. I only stayed for one night, but it was pretty bad. Good luck!

Outstanding experience! We got stuck at Hartsfield on Christmas eve and our flight was not until 5pm the next day so we decided to head over to the intercontinental. $ 40 cab ride (really not bad for the distance) was comfortable and we walked in expecting everything to be dead.
Quite the contrary! The lobby was fully decorated for christmas, restaurant and bar open (9pm Christmas eve). Had the rack of lamb and duck with a couple of glasses of wine and a bourbon for the night cap. They even made my wife a hot chocolate even though it wasn’t on the menu!
The beds were amazing, they allowed us to check out late (1pm) and a Christmas eve that started out horribly was improved immensely because of this facility and it’s staff!

Location, location, location. I passed on three nights at the downtown Ritz to stay at the InterContinental. Buckhead was home for eight years, I wanted to stay over on my side of town for the majority of my trip back to the A, and the InterContinental was the nicest hotel I could find on the corporate hotel booking list.
I arrived after a hellish day of work that consisted of traffic, traffic, and more traffic and then accidentally attempting to check into the Hyatt rather than my correct hotel. I was greeted by a very nice valet who informed me it was $ 34/​day to valet or $ 20-​something to self-​park. That seems kind of high, but whatever. Check in was quick and painless once I arrived at my correct hotel. The InterContinental hotel bar was hopping! It was a most all out of town business folk based on their outfits, and the fact that Atlantans only really go out drinking at the St. Regis when it comes to hotel bars.
As for my room, it was very well appointed. The bed is most luxurious — about nineteen pillows and a cloud-​like white down comforter. There was a spacious desk, which I spent way more time at than hoped for on this work trip. The room smelled oddly clean. It was a pleasant scent every time you walked in, but it took me a few minutes to get acclimated to every time I walked in. The bathroom was fabulous though. A separate shower and garden tub, don’t mind if I do. They have basic coffee makers in the rooms, but a far more complimentary gourmet coffee with to go cups down in the lobby ²⁴⁄₇. Valet had my car ready to go for me bright and early every morning when I called down for my car.
In general, I’m not a big fan of InterContinental hotels because they are way too corporate feeling and I like to feel like I’m on vacation regardless of if I’m there for business or pleasure. However, all that said, the InterContinental Buckhead is an extremely nice hotel with a prime Peachtree Road location. If you’re in town for work, I would absolutely recommend it.

Stayed here last weekend with wife and son. Gat a great deal on Priceline. Last time we stayed here which was several years ago, was not that impressed. But Intercontinental has upped its game and can now say its at the top of the list for places to stay in Buckhead. I will say that checking in took way too long. There were only 2 check in people at the desk and we literally waited over 15 minutes until someone sitting at the concierge desk noticed the long line and called us over to check us in.
However, once this was done, everything was great from then on. The bar is great. The bartenders are attentive and mix a great drink. We were celebrating my son’s 21^st birthday and the bartender gave us each a drink of fine bourbon to toast on the house. Great touch.
We ate breakfast at the restaurant and although pricey, the restaurant is very pretty and the omelettes were well made. Yes pricey for what it was, but you are in a high end hotel so you need to expect that.
The rooms were very well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The showers were nice.
All in all, a really nice hotel. For a 4 star experience, do not hesitate to stay here. Make sure you stop in for a drink at the bar. You will not be disappointed.

I always loved this hotel as its centrally located, decorated tastefully and the front desk staff is always attentive and courteous. Why the 3-​Stars? Housekeeping Management needs to get their act together, one of the nightstand light-​bulbs was out and the remote control needed batteries… A weekly checklist for every room could prevent this type of situation. I expect this from a 3-​Star Hotel… Not a reputable hotel chain such as the Intercontinental. Very disappointed.

Décor was just outdated and not sexy or luxurious at all. The Tv’s were not HD and the Internet was about as fast as AOL dial up in 1998. I understand that it’s supposed to be a «regal Old world» feel to it, but it’s just lame.
Then the rooms have THE most annoying door bell that the housekeeping rang about 6 times all before 10AM. Customer service was ok, but honestly not any better than the Holiday inn Express or any other Hotel.

Recently, my daughter, sister and I stayed at InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, GA. We actually came to town for a wedding and unfortunately, I received a call informing me that my father had passed away in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania shortly after we checked in.
The staff there was spectacular in helping us make arrangements and making sure that we were well taken care of. The check-​in and concierge staff were outstanding and deserve kudos for all of their assistance. They helped us through a very dark period and we were grateful. The hotel was lovely, our view was fabulous and the food was wonderful. What could have been disastrous stay for us was enhanced by their lovely staff.
Thank God that the check-​in staff asked us if we were interested in having club lounge level access. It was worth every cent that we paid. Breakfast, snacks, cocktail hour with h’ordeuvres, dessert hour. Puleeze! Everything was gorgeous!

It’s okay. For the price, I’ve experienced better.
An above average hotel, but a 5 star hotel? …It leaves more to be desired.
The rooms and bathrooms are pretty, and everything was clean.
Housekeeping was extremely nice, and the pool chairs the comfiest! The service and helpfulness of everyone else was just… eh.
Now on to the irritating part…
Upon check out, I was informed that I had spend around $ 30 at the hotel restaurant and charged it to my room. Well, it was true I spent $ 30 at the bar, but my friend paid that tab with her debit card, rather than charging it to our room. So i explain that to the person checking us out, who immediately looks irritated, cuts me off, says «let me go get the receipt» and walks away from me. …Okay.
A few minutes later he comes back. Meanwhile my friend has pulled up her recent transactions for her card on her phone, and sees that she did in fact pay that tab. I go on to mention that to him, and he just shakes his head and walks away again.
A few more minutes pass and he comes back with some random receipt, with a different total, and a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NAME AND SIGNATURE for someone’s breakfast with our room number written on it. Where in the hell did this receipt come from anyway?
We explain to him that is not either of our names, or signatures, and once again, I try to tell him my friend’s card had been charged. He rolls his eyes, throws his head around and says «Um her bank? What? How?» …on the phone, dude. You can get literally anything ON YOUR PHONE NOW. It was only after we proved to him by giving him her phone that he was willing to remove this random person’s breakfast from my room charges.
Again, the service is just not good here. There are too many other places to stay in Buckhead, and all over the world, that I will stay in next time.

Love this hotel! I don’t even know where to start. I took my husband here for Father’s day. We arrived kind of late but the hotel was very lively still.
So check in was a breeze. Front desk staff was friendly and asked what the occasion was. They genuinely seemed interested and willing to help in anyway. We went to our room right after. OMG… it was beautiful, clean and decorative perfectly. Between the premium bedding to the toiletries they offered I don’t think we could have asked for more.
After a great night the next morning we decided to take advantage of their buffet breakfast. Normally when you think buffet it can turn your stomach. However, I have to say it was fantastic. No matter what your diet they have something for everyone. The staff were all friendly and professional!
Bottom line, come here if your looking for a clean, modern hotel, and a professional staff. I just can’t say enough!

I was back at the Intercontinental for an event where, as a friend of the event’s planner, we had access to a staging room for pre and post event organizing. All former comments about the room quality apply. The in-​house food catering for events was top-​notch and the accompanying service was 5-​star. Everyone was pleased with how the hotel handled the large group. I was especially impressed with the cocktail hour bartenders who remembered my drink order and thus saved me from any waiting in line. This place shines from a service standpoint.

Glad to be back home but I’m missing my amazing view from room 1407 this morning. My stay at #IntercontinentalHotel Buckhead was beautiful. They treated me like a VIP from the time I arrived Friday until I left Sunday. My front desk check-​in was easy and quick and the young lady was very pleasant. I never had to open a door when entering or leaving the hotel. I loved their text messaging feature for guest for any and all request. Plenty of towels in the rooms. Every amenity you would need while traveling accessible in the room. The Sunday brunch was phenomenal. Our server Terry did an excellent job. Only hotel I’ll be staying in when visit Atlanta. Superb service, friendly staff, beautiful facility, good food, hospitality was on a different level. Worth the price.

I took my wife here for a one night surprise ‘staycation’ on her birthday and it was wonderful.
Everyone was very polite and helpful. They even sent up an AMAZING 14 layered peice of cake for my wife’s birthday. The bar was lovely — and they mixed me up a stunning Old Fashioned!
The breakfast room service we got was exactly on time and delicious!
All in all, fantastic experience, wonderful hotel, worth the money.

Been here a few times but never stayed in a room until recently. The rooms are spacious. The double bedroom I was in came equipped with a LG Flat-​screen television, about a 40 inch. It sits atop a dresser with stocked minibar. There is also a desk in the room and a spacious bathroom with a deep bathtub.
The bar area was packed on a Friday Night. There are several table tops to choose from, even way way back in the deep corner beyond the bar. It is hard to see but there are seats back there. There was even a live musician who played the keys, trumpet, sax and sang. He was a one man band and had a killer performance.
I even attended a few corporate events here in the past. The ballrooms are very large and can accommodate several thousand people. Parking is ample as there is a large parking garage behind the hotel. Valet is very timely however. They have the cars ready and waiting. The front desk check in is a little buried in the lobby. I can understand why; as a guest you don’t want to see that everyday or walk by a line trying to get outside. However, it seems a little obscured. Other than that, this is a nice hotel. I think I like others in the area a bit better like the St. Regis but Intercontinental Buckhead is in the Top 10 Best in Atlanta. That is not just according to me, but several sources including the AJC and TripAdvisor.

That’s kind of the vibe here, particularly with the lobby full of Atlanta’s finest rental genitals lurking about. Sipping bourbon. Smiling at conventioneers. But politely away to the side.
Strip that controlled nastiness away, and you’re left with a particularly nice upscale chain hotel with truly wonderful facilities and top notch amenities.
The rooms are particularly wonderful and the staff are friendly and awesome.
It’s only a block from the MARTA, so quite easy to get to from the airport without the need for a car. A colleague didn’t figure this out and was stuck paying an obscene amount to deal with a silly self-​park.
Weekday conferences and weekend bar mitzvahs. A neverending constant oscillation between corporate sloth and coming-​of-​age simcha.

«Upscale, luxurious hotel». From the moment we parked our car (in self-​park), we were treated like royalty! The bell desk sent someone out to the garage to help us with our massive amounts of luggage! So nice! Check-​in was a breeze… I don’t expect anything less with these star-​studded hotels. This was our first time visiting Atlanta and I have to say, the Buckhead area was gorgeous… very ritzy! So, again, I would not expect anything less from this hotel considering the location. Our room was gorgeous, small, but fancy! There was no fridge in the room, but we needed one, so we were able to get one up there. Room with a view… definitely! We had a grand view of the street with all the tall buildings, so it was picturesque at night, when all was lit up. There were a few blemishes in the bathroom area that I admit need attention, but still loved everything about our room!
Of course this hotel had an amazing restaurant that is headed by Oprah Winfrey’s former chef! Unfortunately, we were not able to go because we wanted to try the other surrounding restaurants and venture outside the hotel. Since we came here during the holidays, it was decorated exquisitely and was bustling with people. After dinner out, we cozied up on one of the lounge chairs in the lobby to enjoy the sounds of the live band.
Once we retreated back to our rooms, it was time to snooze and lights out. The beds were like clouds and we sunk right into them. I have to say we received excellent treatment there, even when we called down to the front desk, they always asked, «how can we help you Mr. or Mrs???» Such a courteous staff and one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip. We chose this area because it was in close proximity to Stone Mountain Park (about a 20 – 25 min drive) and still in the heart of all the city-​life excitement.

There were so many great aspects of this hotel — the helpful concierge, the interior design details, the well-​appointed gym, and the convivial atmosphere of the lobby at night — but ultimately the housekeeping ruined the experience.
Our room was nicely appointed, with a convenient little nook near the door perfect for charging cell phones. The toiletries were especially high quality and the beds were quite comfortable. However, our sink drainage did not work (don’t stay in room 1622!) and we had only one face towel for two guests. We called housekeeping twice — and went down to concierge to ask them to contact housekeeping for us — and we still didn’t get our face towel. They also removed the cups we had used and did not replace them. On top of that, our shower light went out during our stay and they never did anything about it.
On the other hand, the other hotel staff are fantastic. Our check-​in and check-​out was painless, the concierge, Roosevelt, was incredibly helpful, explaining what public transportation was best and pointing out restaurants and areas of the city that pertained to our taste and interests. We also used the hotel car service a few times (they go anywhere within 2 miles of the hotel), and the drivers, Willy and Jason, also had great recommendations about places to go. Jason in particular has a truly inspiring life story.
The lobby had a great atmosphere, especially during live jazz on weekend nights. The hotel bar has fantastic drinks — the Sazerac I had there was easily one of the best drinks I had in Atlanta.
As it was our first time in Atlanta, we didn’t realize that Buckhead was so far from midtown/​downtown. Since Atlanta seemingly always has terrible traffic, we spent way more time in taxis than we would have liked and we almost missed our flight. Next time we’ll probably stay downtown — closer to restaurants and Atlanta attractions.

Generally speaking I enjoyed my experience. The facilities were nice and generally the service was as well but unfortunately there were a few things during my stay that truly rubbed me the wrong way. Furthermore I believe I gave the staff the opportunity to make things right and they didn’t capitalize on that opportunity.
First with the positive. The rooms were nice and the staff in most cases was very accommodating. The bellmen and valets were quite possibly the cream of the crop. They were extremely friendly and worked hard to take care of everyone. There was also a gentleman named Michael that I ran into at the front desk that was also very friendly.
The things that rubbed me the wrong way:
–the towel wit the giant brown spot on it. As I was getting out of the shower I unfolded my towel and was about to hold it to my face there was a brown stain right in the center of the towel. I called down to the front desk and let them know so they could pick it up when I got back to my room around 2pm that day the towel was gone but imagine my surprise that my room had yet to be cleaned.
–quite possibly my largest frustration. When I went to shower the last day my $ 30 bottle of face wash had been discarded by the housekeeping service. I called down to the front desk and they said they’d follow-​up yet no follow-​up. During my checkout they asked how my stay was and once again I let them know about the face wash. Nothing…
One little thing that bothered me but frankly I didn’t expect special treatment but it surprised me. On my final day I called down and asked for late checkout and was informed 12:30 was the latest they could do. No biggie although considering nearly the entire conference I was attending was checking I knew there were a few hundred other rooms checking out that hey could clean first. Imagine my surprise when I spoke to my friend who got a. 2pm checkout. I once again called the front desk and was told 12:30 was the best they could do. Again I didn’t expect special treatment but considering the dirty towel and throwing away my faces wash. It was the least they could have done.
Anyway. The property is beautiful so my funky little circumstances may not occur to you. Just know that if something does go bad they clearly don’t do much to fix the situation.

The Intercontinental Hotel was the last stop of my vacation. After staying at many hotels, I can say that it was one of the best hotels. The only thing missing from this hotel was the nice view that I had in Key West. But, other than the location, the Intercontinental was better than all the others. From the moment we arrived to the Intercontinental, they were all class. Upon our arrival, the doormen greeted us, and kindly asked us for our names. As we went inside to check in, they radioed the front desk to tell them our names. To our surprise, the check in staff knew exactly who we were when we reached the counter. They honored our request for a room and put us on a high floor as my wife requested, and they put us away from the elevator so that I would have a nice peaceful night sleep.
Our room was on the 16^th floor. The room was away from the elevator as requested. The room was neatly decorated. The room had 2 queen beds. There was plenty of closet space. A large screen tv was atop of the dresser. The restroom was large with both a bathtub and a walk in shower. It was a very comfortable room. The room had a great view of the city. The room had everything that we needed. They even had a glowstick in my room. I think the glowstick is to be used in case of emergency, if there is a blackout.
They had a nice exercise room and spa that I visited, but, did not use. They had all kind of treadmills and equipment for cardio. All the exercise equipment had a tv screen for you to watch as you exercise. If tv wasn’t good enough for you, you could also watch YouTube on the cardio equipment.
As a Rewards Member of the Intercontinental Hotel, I got free internet in my room, and a bottle of water. All you have to do is sign up on the internet.
The Intercontinental is centrally located in Buckhead. There is a Caribou Coffee a ½ a block away. Across the street, hidden in an offifce building is a Flying Bisquit restaurant, which serves great breakfasts. It is also walking distance to the Lennox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza.
The employees of the hotel, from the bellman, to maids all treated us nicely and greeted us whenever they saw us.
The Intercontinental is a great hotel in Buckhead. It gave us everything we wanted and more. If we had to go to Atlanta again, we would definitely stay at the Intercontinental.
