McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks

It’s just not that good… I don’t hate this place but can think of so many other seafoods restaurants I would go to before here.

Bourbon Cream Soda that’s the a great name to remember if you happen to come by and eat in this place. The Happy Hour Martinis are $ 9 and the Cocktails are just $ 9. just average price and has a lot of selection to choose from.
Would recommend the outdoor seating by evening, it has much better atmosphere.

Beautiful establishment, but the food, quite frankly, does not measure up. The clam chowder pales in comparison to that offered by Pappadeaux’s (for example). The shrimp kisses are a favorite, and really the only reason we keep coming back. The steamed mussels were a little dry, which detracted from the flavor.
The hostess and server seemed preoccupied. I say that because I had to remind her of the name on our reservation, and the server warned that a dish we’d ordered contained bacon, after already having served us the bacon wrapped shrimp. Whatever… I’m sure she’d rather be elsewhere. I know I wished we had gone someplace else.

What is the purpose of reservations when people come late at 2:15pm and there reservation was for 1:45pm and they we get here 10 minutes early and can’t be seated for our time because the people who are late get seated first. Good food but reservation system is flawed!

Great place. Food is excellent. Pan seared salmon! Wonderful staff! We try to dine there twice a month. Usually at lunch since we are retired. Highly recommend. Surprisingly reasonable lunch prices!

I love a good happy hour & according to their website, McCormick & Schmidt has been recognized as ‘best happy hour’ by a few mags & newspapers, including USA Today. Naturally I had to try it for myself :)
One of the 1^st things you’ll notice when you enter… the décor. It silently cries for help! The interiors give me a stale, yacht club meets nursing home vibe. A schooner captain may relish the old fashioned, kitschy interior, but the rest of us wouldn’t mind a 21^st century update! But you’re here for the food & drinks, so try to ignore the bad lighting & tacky accessories!
I sat at the bar to meet a friend after work & was greeted by the bartender, Patrick. Against better judgement, I strayed from my usual & ordered the ‘Talk of the Town’ with spiced rum, prosecco & pineapple. It was syrupy & way too sweet! I had to return it… Patrick graciously made a Bloody Mary for me instead — which was surprisingly delicious! A peppery bloody was the perfect antidote to the sugary sweet ‘Talk of the Town.‘
At $ 3-​$ 9, the food offerings on the happy hour menu are great bargain — & delicious! We ordered the coast to coast (tuna tartar & spicy seared ahi tuna), portobello mushroom bruschetta, & NY prime carpaccio. The tuna tartar was one of my favorites — served with wonton chips, topped with avocado & it had large dices of tuna, which I prefer. The carpaccio was my 2^nd favorite — light & tasty. The bruschetta had a great flavor, it was just awkward to eat — the cheese & portobello kept wanting to slide off the bread. You’d take 1 bite & the whole topping would slide off. That could be remedied with a fork & knife, but I guess I felt like eating with my hands :)
I dined here on another occasion & had one of my favorite meals of all time: Alaskan king crab legs! They were amazing, but you can’t really go wrong with crab legs unless the freshness is compromised.
I always pay attention to the patrons & the music — music was good. Patronage? We joked that it seemed like we needed an AARP card to be there!
Besides the atmosphere, this place has a lot to offer. I’m surprised more people don’t go. I’ll add it to my happy hour rotation, despite not having an AARP card!

Another bad service and stomach churning food. Zero on service and zero on food. DONT BOTHER COMING HERE. It’s absolutely SUBPAR FOOD and ATROCIOUS TERRIBLE SERVICE. This is absolutely the last time we will go here. Service is soooo poor. Only go here if you want to be ignored. And, again we had stomach problems in the night after eating here. Told my Spouse I don’t care how convenient it is to come here or it’s a last resort sort of place for our date night or the points we get for coming here… we are DEFINITELY NOT EVER going to come back here to eat. It’s by far the worst we have experienced in a long long time.
It really boggles my mind why this place is constantly booked up and busy. They cater to large groups, if a large group comes in forget about service to couples, you’re going to be ignored. It has rapidly gone downhill from the first time we came here. We have been to some excellent McCormick’s in DC and SF. THIS ONE JUST SUCKS– management and wait staff are absolutely horrendous and terrible. The wait staff have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT SERVICE MEANS. Slamming food onto a table and then disappearing forever is not service.

Not this time but the second to last time we came here we came early and circled around to find parking in the very small parking lot, eventually we had to give it to the valet because the valet cordon off a HUGE section of the parking lot for themselves so there is even fewer open spots for you to self park thus forcing you to use the valet. Sneaky!!!
When we arrived 10mins before our reservation the hostess told us they were running late. We had made reservations a couple of weeks before. Well, we waited and waited along with a couple of ladies who were clearly there for a birthday as they had balloons and gift bags as well as an elderly couple whom we gave our seats to by the front lobby. We chatted and joked about this place. McCormick’s didn’t even offer free appetizers or drinks while we waited. I Made spouse go to the bar to get me and the elderly lady beside me some water. I walked around the restaurant to see what the problem was. There was a huge group (convention or large corporate party) that took up the entire right side of the restaurant and in the middle room they had a huge extended family celebrating something. I just stood in the middle of the convention goer room and glared at them and the wait staff because it was getting ridiculous and because I was STARVING by now. I was going to just sit down in the convention room and just start eating their buffet style spread they had there because I was so annoyed, getting irritated and my stomach was growling noticeably loudly at this point. I inquired with the hostess, whom never really apologized ever, and I gleaned that the corporate group was a last minute sort of booking. Ok, great, so, our reservation means jack to you all at McCormick’s. When it hit the 1hr wait time mark we had had it we left without telling the hostess whom had been reassuring us it would only be another 5−10min. We emailed the reservation service and sent a negative review. We went to another restaurant at the Avalon and had a wonderful dinner there.
Before we left I told the elderly couple whom also had reservations that they should leave too. The birthday ladies were still waiting when we left and they had arrived earlier than us.
Hey, McCormick how about NOT overbooking and overselling your tables 3 times over for the same time slot. Hey what about honoring the reservations people make and not trying to make a quick buck with trying to accommodate last minute large parties or convention goers. What a novel concept… honoring a reservation time.
Waitresses and waiters there make customers feel like we really don’t matter. Absolutely NO REFINEMENT in SERVICE. The wait staff seem no better trained than some greasy spoon place off some truck stop highway.
Definitely not worth the amount of money paid for the food here or the service.

My family and I ate there today for EASTER brunch. What a HORRIBLE experience. First of all, the hostesses were arrogant with an attitude. We had to tell her 3 times that we were wanting the brunch menu. she said «okay yeah yeah okay» and NEVER came back with the menu. We finally sat down after having a reservation, and our food took almost 2 hours to come out. Unbelievable! Not only that, but our server had a terrible attitude, and everyone working there was basically running around with that same «I don’t give a crap» attitude (Except this one very nice and upbeat server who was working on the opposite side of the restaurant who went out of his way to be nice while we were walking to the restroom etc.) They ran out of mimosas, charged us extra for having to use the «more expensive» champagne… and our food was clearly sitting in the window for a very long time. We could tell because the plates were scalding hot and the top of our food had a hot crust on it meaning its been sitting there under a heater for awhile (I worked at a restaurant throughout college). My sister and I ordered 2 club sodas, NOT SPARKING WATER which comes in a bottle. We know the difference. The server claimed we were wrong and charged us because she said it was «sparking in a bottle.» Well if she gave us sparking water in the bottle, how come we weren’t presented with the bottle like at other normal high quality restaurants? Overall, the experience was really bad. We are used to visiting the McCormick & Schmick’s location on Oakbrook, IL and it was a 100% different experience and atmosphere… from the hostesses to the food. Please do something to change this, because we are never coming back. Good staff comes from the top, meaning you must have good management first in order to have good staff.

I booked a reservation here before checking reviews on Unilocal.Then on the ride to Mc & Schmick’s I opened Unilocal & became very concerned. To address issues negative reviewers brought up…
1. Long wait to be seated — we were seated promptly.
2. Long wait to get drinks after being seated — our server brought water immediately and gave me a moment to look over the wine list, brought my husband a sample of beer to try and then brought our drink orders in a timely manner.
3. Cold bread — we never got any.
We arrived five minutes prior to our RSVP time and we were seated promptly in a private booth.
We liked our server Josh/​Joshua very much, he was friendly and helpful. He highly recommended the Shrimp Kisses as a starter. They were good but I was ok with just eating one and letting my husband have the rest.
My husband enjoyed a Guinness with his dry rub Angus, broccoli, & lobster mash. He finished his meal with crème brûlée.
I enjoyed a glass of Caposaldo Moscato with my Filet Mignon topped with truffle butter. (Yes white wine and red meat, I don’t drink red) I requested pancetta potatoes & Brussels sprouts for my side.
The entire meal was delicious. I didn’t finish my pancetta potatoes, possibly because I dipped into my husband’s lobster mash.
It took two hours to complete our meal from being seated to paying the check. My husband and I expect a meal to take that long. When we make a reservation for a dinner date we don’t usually book tickets to a show in the same evening, because we never want to feel rushed through a meal. Having said that there was probably an extra five to ten minutes between waits that we were ready for the next thing.
Josh was attentive without hovering or pushing us through. He was clearly busy with other tables while he was also serving us. There was one time when he took my husband’s water glass and didn’t come back with another, which I feel is very small considering the great service we received.

We went for Valentine’s Day dinner last night. My brother in law set up a what he thought would be awesome dinner… First. Upon walking up to the hostess stand, I saw a small roach just hanging out on the wood lol. But I decided to ignore it and pray things would be better than my first host. The service is so slow, it took almost 2.5 hours! It took forever to order our appetizers. The bread they brought to a table of SIX people was so small. We had to continue to ask for more. Second. They messed up the surprise by bringing it out earlier than expected. It was cute though, they made a fruit salad that said «I love you». Finally, this place is TERRIBLY overpriced for the amount of food you get. I got the ULTIMATE MIXED SEAFOOD GRILL… Literally 2 stuffed shrimp, two scallops, 3 grilled shrimp, a THIRD of a small salmon filet, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I never finish my food but I did last night bc it was barely enough. It was $ 35! Bottom line, I won’t be back!

My first time to dine here and it was just ok. The hostess was just awful. She seemed to almost have an attitude. The waiter was very sweet and helpful, but the food was just ok. The fish was so bland and there was absolutely nothing special about the sides. The martini’s was amazing.

See Angela F. Review. It is the most accurate. After waiting 40 min for an 8:00 reservation and paying for «complimentary valet», we left because I read her review and I witnessed a customer echoing the same sentiments.
This place has the worst customer service. I have a newfound respect for restaurants that hire seasoned waiters.
This was suppose to be my birthday dinner and we had driven from Alpharetta. We drove back at 8:45 and ended up eating at Shiraz Café on McGinnis Ferry Road and had excellent service and food.
This place should close. They don’t love what they do.

Stopped in for a date night dinner and was not impressed. The restaurant was not busy. The complimentary bread came out after my soup and we didn’t even get our water until our salads were brought out despite asking 3 times. One of our salads was served with blue cheese when we ordered ranch. The server even tried to argue with us that it was ranch despite the chuncks of blue chese clearly on the plate! Our server was wearing an entire bottle of cologne so needless to say it was not pleasant. The highlight of the meal was the crab lobster bisque… I WOULD come back for again for that. The entrees were so so… definitely not worth a bill of $ 120. Save your money and get a nice dinner at Longhorn for half the price!

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND AGGRAVATION! Please, let me begin this review by saying — one of my first jobs as as teenager was as a waitress in a small, cheap restaurant and it was an intense experience. I almost always tip close to 30% and I’m generous with accepting that mistakes happen. The below is not exaggerated in any way:
Despite arriving 10 minutes early, we waited an additional hour past our reservation before being seated. During this entire time, we stood in the crowded, cold hallway in the area between the front door and the walk back into the main part of the restaurant with dozens of other people being made to wait an hour for their reservations. Everyone was yelling at the hostess and obviously upset and complaining… From there, we could see dozens of empty tables, which added to the buzz around the restaurant. The manager stated that she could not seat more than a maximum amount of tables per server so that we could all get top service.
After an hour of waiting (starving by this point) and listening to people yelling and complaining, I was completely stressed out. The host finally called us for our table and despite us yelling, HERE! directly behind him 4 times, we finally had to jump up and down and wave for him to look at us — to which he responded to in an incredibly rude manner (lecturing me about no need to yell while walking by other seated tables and speaking to me as if I was 2 years old was confusing; we were yelling because you weren’t able to hear us). I was completely frazzled and totally insulted by the time I got to my seat.
However, despite this promise for some extraordinary service, our waiter really didn’t care we were there or not, and barely took the time to bring us our water and then the check — everything else delivered by a runner. We each had one drink, both of which were so watered down they were almost completely clear. The total of the bill came out to $ 120. The fish was very fresh, but the portions were by no means especially large nor unique enough to compensate for the large bill. Had service and the restaurant been a great experience, perhaps together; but instead, all combined together we ended up leaving feeling extremely insulted.
There was absolutely no measure taken to compensate us, nor anyone else, for the extraordinary long time that we waited and the subpar experiences that followed. The manager was completely aloof and unresponsive and when I tried to engage her before I left, she instead told me that people were just taking too long to eat and it was outside of her control. Before posting this review, I looked on the website so that I could contact the corporate office, because I thought perhaps they did not realize that there was such an issue with their Atlanta Perimeter location. To my surprise, there is no email address nor phone number on their website at the time of this review. There is a street address, but I really do not feel like writing them a hand-​written letter; instead, I am just going to post this review to warn others not to spend their time, money, or emotional energy being aggravated by the experience.

My husband and I had dinner here last weekend for my birthday. I had earned some gift certificates from work and this is where we used them
We were very excited to try this place out, but it was a huge disappointment for both of us.
The bread was ok– if it was fully warmed up, it would have been really good, but the outside was barely warm and the inside was cold–
For the appetizers, we chose the shrimp kisses which were very good and the calamari which was very disappointing. It was lukewarm and very greasy. The Lemon aioli was really good though.
I ordered the stuffed salmon as my entrée. The fish was cooked to perfection but there was no crab or shrimp in the filling– all I tasted was red peppers. My husband got the stuffed flounder and he didn’t have a morsel of shrimp or crab in his either.
The iced tea was very good
So to recap– out bill came to 98 bucks and the only items worth a damn were the shrimp kisses and the iced tea.
We won’t be going back. The prices are too high for what you get and the food was lackluster at best.

Lobster cobb, sear tuna, perfect squash bisque that wasn’t heavily creamed, all in a great atmosphere and professional friendly staff.

Unwelcome reception continued with lackluster service throughout lunch.
2 of us for lunch today, a slow Thursday at this restaurant. We get asked if we have reservations. and since we did not, we were then only offered the bar area for seating. Who makes reservations for a place like this for lunch? I walked back to the dining area after a bit to find it maybe ¼ full.
We were fine with sitting in the bar and then experienced slow service throughout our meal even though we had a waitress + the bartender assigned to our area which had only one other table occupied.
The food was GREAT. Lobster salad and andouille & shrimp fettuccine were both tasty and reasonably priced.

Although the menu items can be pricey. There are menu items for pockets that aren’t so deep. We made our reservation on line & I noted it was our 38^th anniversary. They called to confirm & wished us a happy anniversary. Our menus said happy 38^th anniversary.
Our service was outstanding. Jeremiah was great. I had the almond crusted trout & Parmesan crusted flounder. We both enjoyed our meals. These were moderately priced & we had enough to take home for another meal. We also got treated to a dynamite lava cake. It was a wonderful evening,

Good seafood
Went to the happy hour and had fish tacos, blackened chicken quesadilla, and baked oysters. Oysters were very good!
