History

Established in 2009.

The Mel Boteri story began in the summer of 2007, when Melanie Mueller Prince, an Emory business school student at the time, packed up what she could fit into one suitcase and headed off to New York City. She had landed her dream job working for a world-​renowned, luxury brand in the fashion capital, but what had initiated as a means of gaining experience would quickly turn into something more beautiful.

A marketplace saturated with «one-​size-​fits-​all,» flashy merchandise ultimately inspired Mel to change the way that shopping is perceived, and to create an experience that is driven by personal attention and relationships. She laid the groundwork for her business during her last semester at Emory, and officially launched the brand with the first collection of handbags in the fall of 2009.

Mel Boteri delivers on the values of craftsmanship and personalized service through small production with higher quality, versus mass manufacturing and less attention to detail.
