Established in 1987.
I have been practicing orthodontics since 1987. I joined the practice of Dr. Walt Sheffield and worked with him for 10 years then he retired and I have been a solo practice since then. I chose orthodontics as a profession because I enjoyed helping people have beautiful healthy smiles. I also enjoy the continuity of being able to see a patient over a longer period to get to know them personally. I also enjoy being part of a community in which I practice. So I have things in common with our patients and I can help our community grow. I also like being my own boss, which dentistry provides.

I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 1980. I then stayed at the university to complete my Doctorate of Medical Dentistry in 1985. After, I attended the University of Washington to receive my Master of Science in Dentistry in 1987.
I know that my education is a lifelong process and in order to provide my patients with the utmost in care, continuing education is necessary. For this reason, I dedicate much of my time to continuing my knowledge and skill through courses and seminars that directly improve the treatments that I am able to provide to my patients. For instance, I have focused on improving our use of 3D technology for advanced diagnosis and treatment, and by studying at the Spears Institute, I have been able increase the accuracy and speed of our patients treatments. Further, I subscribe to six different professional journals and a newsletter each month, and these help me stay as current as possible with latest developing trends within my field.
