My orthopedic sent me to Dr. Bhahara/​Bharara (sp?) in mid-​November 2015 for a back/​lower hip injury according to my 11/​13/​15MRI. Only I couldn’t get an appointment at this office until December 10. At the 12÷10÷15 appt, the doctor said I had tears in the SI joint on the left side and a slight fracture in my tailbone and gave me Percocet 5/​325, which I told him I had gotten from the hospital 2 months ago and they never worked. The doctor did not care, and he claims he prescribed me enough to last me for 2 weeks, until my injections appt. my injections appt turned out to be 18 days away, and I ran out of the pills 8 days before the appt because I had to take 2 at a time just to get some sort of relief. So 12÷28÷15 I go get my injections, which were beyond painful and did not work at all, and the doctor refused to give me another pain prescription! He said, «I think the shots will work, just give it time, and come back for your follow up appointment.» Guess when the first available appointment was? 24 days away! I went to my follow up appointment and the nurse or assistant had me do a urine drug test, and I asked why? I haven’t even had any pain pills since the middle of December. She asked did the doctor not prescribe me anything? I said no, what do the notes say in my record file? So apparently there’s a breakdown of communication or visit documentation notes. She said no wonder my drug tests have been inconsistent, I haven’t been taking the pills not because I’m selling them or giving them away, but because the doctor has not prescribed me anything in over a month. So the doctor comes in, and after discovering that I have wasted my money and time for the past over 2 months here, gives me the same exact weak prescription for Percocet ⁵⁄₃₂₅ again, he was rushed and unsympathetic. Why would you continue giving me a low dosage of pills I told you do not work or provide relief even when I double up on them? Ridiculous! Terrible! So now I am waiting to be seen by my orthopedic who referred me to him but I kind of feel like I need to find a new orthopedic as well, since my accident/​injury happened 97 days ago and it still hurts to lay down in bed sometimes, twist, squat, bend, roll over, etc.

I saw Dr. Mishu for multiple issues, one being lower back pain and weakness on my right side. He was very nice and personable, but I am not a huge fan of the location. The building is an old run down hospital in the middle of Old Forth Ward. Honestly, who cares about the location a great doctor is worth doing just about anything to see. After doing some MRIs of my brain and spine the doctor came back with some very concerning news about degenerative disc disease in my neck and lower back. What made me hesitate was the fact that he wanted me to immediately get two surgeons opinions and never mentioned non surgical options. In fact, he said non surgical options were off the table. He said the compression of my spine was severe and not to wait. Needless to say, I was freaked out! But I was not about to rush into spinal surgery at 30 so I got a second opinion from a doctor that several family members with disc issues similar to mine thought very highly of. The doctor looked at my MRIs and did some tests and told me to avoid surgery and that the original diagnosis was overstated and he was not worried about any immediate danger.
I am very active and could have potentially had my life radically altered by having 3 vertebrae fused. My prognosis now is PT, chiropractics, some life style changes, and yearly monitoring the conditions of my discs. That is so much better than never being able to run or lift weights again; Two things I am passionate about. Sadly, because of this I cannot recommend this doctor.

I suffer from chronic migraines and Dr Dholakia has been patient and empathetic with my situation. I usually dont have to wait long in the waiting room and getting in and out of the building/​garage is easy peasy for people like myself who are directionally challanged.

I’m disappointed to see the negative Unilocal reviews. I took my mom to Midtown Neurology to see Dr. Swapan Dholakia after she had a seizure. We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. After completing the necessary paperwork, we were immediately called in. The nurse who administered Mom’s preliminary exam was so sweet and caring. After the preliminary exam, we were sent to a room to wait for the doctor. Dr. Dholakia immediately entered our room and spent a considerable amount of time with Mom in an attempt to understand her problems. He ordered an EEG immediately.
Nita administered the EEG. She was an amazingly warm and beautiful person who made my mom feel comfortable and safe.
After the EEG, we again met with Dr. Dholakia. Dr. Dholakia is an exceptionally compassionate, patient and intelligent doctor. I cannot recommend him enough. He performed a thorough exam and it is obvious that he is a genuinely caring doctor.
Every single person with Midtown Neurology is more than competent and kind. Although we spent hours at the office, the time passed so quickly. We were never made to wait and we were treated with kindness.

If you’re in the market for a world-​class neurologist, this is the place to go.
I’ve had some hereditary things going on in recent years and Dr. Mishu and his staff have expertly guided me to full recovery.

I have a rare neurological disorder, & this was the first neurologist office I visited. I was misdiagnosed. I’d had MRIs that actually reported my condition, but the dr. didn’t feel it was causing my neuro problems. He diagnosed me with something else & attempted to treat it to no avail.
Granted, what I have isn’t that rare. What is rare is for it to rear its ugly head. My symptoms matched the condition when it becomes problematic, & I suspect the dr. simply wasn’t familiar with it.
I prefer doctors who admit if they don’t know, and/​or wait to say for sure until the proof is there. I felt misled here & was depressed over the misdiagnosis, as I was strongly led to believe it was true & assured I’d get better. When that diagnosis fell through, the new one was complicated migraines, & that’s when I stopped going. (The migraine theory had been disproved long ago.)
My GP re-​read my radiology reports & caught mention of the disorder. I went to NY to a well-​known specialist. $ 300K & almost 2 years later, I’ve had 3 brain & spinal surgeries & am finally recovering. If I stuck with Midtown Neurology, I’m not sure what shape I’d be in now. I’d rather not think about it.
