Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream & Desserts

Where has this place been all my life? I was appraising a town home down the street and someone suggested that I try this place out since I was in the area & with it being 95 degrees outside I thought it was a good idea. This is one of those walk up places. One window is where you place the order and the next window is where you pick it up. I got 1 scoop of salted caramel & 1 scoop of butter pecan. The salted caramel was sooooooooooo good ! Like oh my gosh so creamy & delicious ! The butter pecan was ok. Really wish I got 2 scoops of the salted caramel. Did I tell you how good it was? Anyhoo they make all their ice cream fresh every morning. I’m already planning on taking my daughter here this upcoming week. can’t wait to sample the other flavors ! Yummmm

It was okay. They only had six flavors when I went and one scoop is in a to go sauce container… it’s really small.

I came here before a movie at least he Starlight and opted to have ice cream for dinner. Why? Because why not?
Had a double cup of coffee almond bishoff ice cream. It was good except that you couldn’t taste the coffee flavor and the bischoff cookie was two giant clumps. Despite the ice cream having a good texture and smoothness it was like eating ice cream that wasn’t blended properly.
Either way I like what they had and will be back. Maybe I got an off scoop?

Loved the chocolate ice cream here. Took a risk and tried the strawberry pepper ice cream and that was not my thang. Really liked the guava cheesecake ice cream, and my wife loved the oreo and salted caramel ice creams. Very pricey but worth it for the unique flavors and quality

The Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet gave me life. My husband and I tried it for the first time. We both enjoyed it and will be back soon. The service was quick and staff was friendly.

If they have the smooth monkey ice cream, that’s what you should get. Banana, chocolate, and walnuts. Ohhhhh my goodness that is some good-​ass ice cream.
I am more of a busy ice cream person as opposed to classic, simple. I like a lot of things going on. So it’s no surprise that other flavors I’ve tried include coconut Almond Joy and Bordeaux cherry chocolate, both of which were very good. They do have classic flavors as well as even more out-​there flavors like coconut jalapeño and earl grey.
The ice cream at Morelli’s is super rich and dense yet soft and creamy. They have all manner of accoutrements for your yummy dessert, including a variety of cones.
Service is always friendly and pretty quick. I guess the only bummer is that it’s a stand so there is no indoor seating.
Overall, I am so glad this place is just a short drive (or long walk) from my house.

My pregnant wife and I tried the triple-​decked salted caramel ice-​cream in the chocolate-​dipped, sprinkle-​covered waffle cone from heaven only angels can envision. The creaminess launched me into the stratosphere of euphoria. The sensation of floating and falling simultaneously overtook me right before I bit into a piece of warm chocolate, propelling me into mind-​blowing, incomprehensible ecstasy. My love for the cocoa bean awakened from hibernation knowing full well that it will crush any chance my fading intention of eating healthy interferes with my soul’s journey. My unborn child’s kicks were not a reflection of excitement but of anger, as if to punish my wife’s delay in visiting Morelli’s. My thoughts are filled with what I can possibly say to answer his complaints of this day, as he approaches the age of expecting hollow excuses. The duality of my impending situation dawned on me as I reached the final bite. How much I longed for this moment to last forever, yet I know with certainty that settles in the heart that only the Al-​Mighty has such immutable qualities. As my lips part and the distance between them and the tear-​drop waffle tip shortens, I ask myself the rhetorical question: is this how it ends?

Parking: There is a large parking lot in this plaza.
Service: Pretty quick. You walk up to a window and order. You wait for your order at the next window. There is seating outside, so not the best place for rainy/​cold days.
Food: The ice cream… was ok. Portions were small! Way over-​priced! The salted caramel was TOO salty. The root beer float was good, per my husband. I don’t understand the ratings here. The ice cream is really not anything special. We will not be back.

You get an appropriate amount of ice cream, but more is always better! Good flavor choices with something for everyone; from the adventurous to the vanilla.

So I’ve been scoping this place out for a while and finally decided to give it a try. I can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on Morelli’s. It was perfect. I had the salted caramel in a waffle bowl and my partner had the chocolate (she devoured it) I have no complaints about my choice. I also had a slice of their seven up cake and it was delicious. I’m a new fan and will definitely be back, especially now that the weather is getting warmer.

2^nd time out this pass Sunday and although this was not the intended destination it was absolutely worth it! As on the previous visit I had to get another banana split, although I still say $ 8 is a bit pricey for 3 scoops and a few drizzles of each topping. The only thing that I would suggest is portion control could be a little more accurate for a split, which is so traditional. They still had a nice crowd waiting since it was such a nice day out. I did not know until I read other reviews earlier this week that you are able to sample the selections. I hope that is still actually the case because looking at the choices from this weekend I was a little overwhelmed with some of the odd choices and the simpler ones that I am sure tasted just as great. I look forward to coming back even though I am highly lactose intolerant, it says a lot when the urge to sacrifice a little discomfort brings my car in Morelli’s direction!

Morelli’s always has amazing staff and unconventional flavored that never seem to disappoint. I will come here during any time of day all year long. Definitely one of the best ice cream spots in Atlanta.

You know you’re mad for ice cream when you’re wearing a down jacket, hat, and scarf, and are willing to wait OUTSIDE for the stuff. Yeah, so unlike the Edgewood shop, this Morelli’s doesn’t have any indoor seating, only outdoor. Side note: do all of the entrances, or exits rather, to this shopping center have outward-​pointing arrows? That’s how it seemed for the first exit on Moreland and the first exit on Ormewood.
You walk up, order at a window, and pick up at a different window. The downside of these walk-​up scoop shops is that you can’t see the flavors, and you’ll have to read the menu and use your imagination. The fellow helping me was just so personable and cheerful I couldn’t help feeling more merry myself. I sampled both the Brooklyn cheesecake, an homage to Junior’s cheesecake, and the Heath butterscotch, not bad.
I wanted to sample a few more flavors (blueberry corncake, you’ve evaded me this time!), but a line was forming behind me. Therefore I decided to be considerate and just place my order of a double in a cup: Brooklyn cheesecake and coffee. Of course I ordered right before a second employee came up to bat. Eeep on the cost (shy of $ 6) but the quality scoops are fairly generous, and you’re supporting a local business.
The Brooklyn cheesecake will make you almost believe someone took NY cheesecake, pureed it in a blender, and whipped it up into ice cream. I loved the graham cracker crust threads, scrumptious. The coffee ice cream at Morelli’s has a bitter edge which complemented the sweeter cheesecake well. The often edgy-​zany flavors offered can change daily; scope out the Facebook page so you can know what’s being offered before you head out
With the unfortunate recent shuttering of the Edgewood Morelli’s, I shall have to now turn to the Ormewood Morelli’s for my periodic fix, whether it be 40 degrees or 80 degrees.

I was in town this past weekend for the holiday weekend visiting one of my oldest and dearest friends. She raved about the ice cream at this place and insisted that we must pay a visit. OMG… it was even better than she described. There were so many different but interesting flavors. Joe who was working that evening couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. He let us sample multiple flavors until we each decided what our choice was. I ultimately decided on a combination of the peanut butter salted crunch and chocolate and they were great! I would definitely visit again when I return to Atlanta.

Joe, Joe, Joe. Such a nice guy that really helped us decide which flavors to get. I tasted a few but it came down to Salted Caramel and Oreo. Delicious! Only problem is that I wish I could have taken some back to NY. Please start shipping. I will definitely stop in again when I am back in the area.

After passing this place numerous times, I finally decided to check in and see if they offered vegan ice cream. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they do! I was even more elated to find that their current flavor was pumpkin biscoff, as in biscoff cookies. YUM! It was so good! I have yet to return to try any of their other vegan flavors but I definitely will!

Salted Caramel was soooooo delicious. Really salty just the way i hoped it would be. My friend had the mocha and he was so happy with his flavor too… we dropped by after leaving a friend at the airport. It was worth the detour… The two serving ladies were very sweet too.

So we drove 38 mins to this place because Unilocal reviews made this place sound spectacular. Apparently they keep changing their flavors and the flavor that I really wanted to try, coconut jalapeño wasnt available. No problem. We wanted death by chocolate but sadly she had just taken it out of the freezer and it was too hard to serve.
Another thing, there was one server there, taking orders and serving and it took crazy long. It was a friday night and people were starting to come in. I fet bad for the poor server.
So I got the cinnamon and hubby the butterscotch. I tried the strawberry rosewater and it was too sweet for me. The cinnamon was good and had great texture. It tasted like the crunch cereals milk. Hubby’s was a tad sweet and had walnuts and he loved it. But we both agreed that this was not as fantastic, OH MY GOD! experience as we had expected.
We will return only if we are in the area.

First time trying the ice cream here & the guy at the counter was suuuuuper patient with me even tho I was extremely indecisive.

Blueberry Rosewater ice cream in a sprinkle cone and a mudslide milkshake, at sunset, with a beautiful group of strangers sharing the experience. Yes, I will be back. This is what happiness made from.

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon with mu daughter. The customer service was great and we got quite a few samples because they hv innovative flavors. My 9 year old didnt like any flavors besides vanilla. I got a pint of salted caramel vanilla and honey bun. Hubby wasnt impressed and the salted caramel was a little salty. Ill be bk, they change flavs often. Bring back the krispy kreme.

Friendly staff. Had the Smooth Monkey. It put Chunky Monkey to shame.

Ive never been to this location and decided to stop by and check it out after driving home from Southwest GA. This is a cute little walk up window with outdoor seating (in the summer it might be less than desireable, but on a day like yesterday, it was awesome — especially when bringing your dog like my wife and I did). Standard 5-​star Morellis ice cream at this location. Had two samples and knew right away that I was going to get the Chocolate Cream Pie, which is crazy but I dont like chocolate cream pie. I dont think I have ever ordered chocolate cream pie anything… but would do this again in a heartbeat. For people living in the ATL area, you truly are missing out if you are not going to get your ice cream craving cured by Morelli’s.

Was dining at H. Harper Station and none of the dessert options were interesting. Friends and I decided to go to Morelli’s. First time at this location. Plenty of parking, which is nice. I did not like how it was outdoor seating only. :-(I am used to going to the Caroline St. location where customers have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. There are multiple windows to order at and one window to pick up your order. I was really looking forward to trying a Customer Favorite, Blueberry Corncake, but they ran out right before I purchased. Bummer. You can sample whichever flavors you like. I tried the Customer Favorite, Maple Bacon Brittle and didn’t like it. It was kinda bland. I don’t get why this is a favorite. However, I loved the Maple Walnut. Full of maple flavor. I also got Banana Chocolate Chip which I had tried before and knew I liked. Even after they close up shop, the leave the outside lights on for a while during their clean up so you can hang. That was cool.

Stopped in for a treat. I ordered a milkshake it was good. Chocolate and banana. Very expensive though. And maybe I’m being petty but the straw was way too thin.
Oh and on a Sunday afternoon there appeared to be only one person working, so the wait was a little long.

They will let you buy a two ounce «kid cup» even if you don’t have a kid.
The blueberry rosewater ice cream is amazing!

I’m just gonna come out and say it: best ice cream in Atlanta. This place packs some big flavors, and it’s all good. Chocolate wasabi people! And it’s not just some pussy hint of wasabi, it’s throw the mike down «yeah we went there» spicy. Delicious. I also have a long standing love affair with the rosemary olive oil — I know it sounds like a strange flavor profile for ice cream but it works beautifully, you have to try it, trust me (and if you don’t like it, don’t tell me or I’ll have to unfriend you). Last summer they had this corn jalapeño flavor that was out of this world (update: this summer they have just plain corn, and it’s yummy). And for you scaredy cats, they have normal people flavors too — on a recent visit the caramello and lemon meringue were both da bomb. Finally, if it’s your first time or you want to try one of the non-​traditional flavors, you have to go to the original walk-​up location in Ormewood (down Moreland, past East Atlanta Village), not the new one in the Edgewood shopping center. There have been so many ice cream shops cropping up around town recently, and they are all disappointing — cloyingly sweet and very little flavor other than the sugar. Thank goodness Morelli’s is there to save us.

Sweet potato biscoff — the only vegan option on the menu that day. It reminded me of sweet potato pie, which I am a fan of so this was a good choice.
Lemon meringue pie — Not as sweet as I expected. I never had meringue pie but I loved the lemon taste to this so I was satisfied.
Sweet corn — literally tasted like sweetened corn.
I came here excited for jalapeño ice cream but they didn’t have… they change their menu daily which I guess is good.

Ice creams are amazing: salted caramel, chocolate and anything that you try you will love.
The problem is with the service both black women that were today ere very rude. I asked for water and then said that I could only get one cup of water, which I don’t understand since is free water.
Service is everything so I won’t come back to this place. Great taste but horrible service.
