Ninas Couture

Nina is a wonderful woman who makes fabulous High end dresses. She does beautiful tailoring and I would recommend her to anybody looking for a finer experience in the building of their wardrobe. Every time I visit Atlanta, I make sure to stop in to Nina’s, she is my favorite couturier in the South!!!
On a side note, it’s so sad to read such a scathing review by Devon. Good work speaks for itself, not desperately bored and painfully ignorant Southern housewives.

I heard about Nina from a friend and I am so glad I decided to stop by! I wasn’t planning to buy anything, but an just couldn’t resist. I ended up getting a GORGEOUS dress. Not only is it a one-​of-​a-​kind and made beautifully, but after only a few small alterations it fits me like a glove. Worth every penny. Love it! Thank you, Nina.

I became aware of Nina’s Couture through their association with JCREW for alterations. They specialize in women’s cloths but they also do alterations for guys. I’m really impressed with the quick turnaround. They do much better work than most of the competitors in the Buckhead area.

I took a dress to Nina to have the neckline altered and couldn’t be happier with her work! She did an amazing job and was able to get it back to me in less than a week. Nina has a wonderful, fun, outgoing personality… She’s a true gem to work with. I was surprised to learn that not only does she design and alter couture clothing, but she also alters jeans, suits and everything in between. I’ll definitely be going back for all my alteration needs:).

I had one of the weirdest experiences of my life here.
Nina’s Couture is tucked away in a very bougie shopping center sort of enclave on Peachtree. From the street Nina’s appears to be very 1980s rich lady shit, power shoulder polka dot suits and foofly poufs of wedding dresses. I couldn’t tell if it was vintage consignment or what, but it looked interesting enough to check out.
I pushed the door open to absolute silence. Weird mannequins wearing obviously homemade «artsy» dresses glared at me. Two racks of random polyester vintage dresses leaned against the wall. I started to feel like maybe I wasn’t supposed to be there. And then a short, waddling lady with oversized glasses and a cockeyed maroon wig came to greet me, asking me lots of questions. It was Nina. She pulled me into the back, and told me to have a seat on the sofa and watch her runway show. «Ten minutes,» she said, in a very thick slavic accent. I got the feeling that it was not up for debate. «My show was voted best in new york city for the spring shows», she told me. «All of my creations are very expensive!» She disappeared. I watched the show. I have no idea who voted it ‘the best’ but Ralph Lauren’s gonna be PISSED when he finds out he lost to this broad. I had a moment of feeling like I should run for it, but I was kind of scared and stayed in my seat.
I had told her that I was looking for a wedding dress, and when she returned she was holding a wedding gown. «Very expensive!» she told me with a wag of her thick finger. It was so pitifully godawful, it looked like it had been glue-​gunned with pearls and sparkles and made from some fabric I wore in my first jazz dance recital. «There is something VERY SPECIAL about this dress,» she waved me into another room, pushing the door open and almost running over a very young, very skinny asian girl who was altering a JCrew jacket, surrounded by clothing in various states of deconstruction. And then I finally got it: Old girl does alterations! She just wants to pretend to be a designer. Now it makes sense. She must be damn good at it to be so cray-​cray.
Then she pushed me into a dark bathroom and quickly walked in after me, shutting the door. «This is amazing, no one will ever forget you in this dress!»
The dress. glowed. in the dark.
And then I was like, holy shit, I’m standing in a pitch black bathroom with a stranger and a glow in the dark glue-​gunned wedding dress. It was about to get Bloody Mary in there, I could just feel it.
I got the fuck out of there as fast as I could. I think I even promised to come back and buy the thing if she would just let me go.
Ladies, if you ever fantasized about a glow in the dark gown, there’s one at Nina’s with your name on it! But remember, it’s VERY EXPENSIVE.
