Amazing I’ve past by here a million times but never tried it. The chicken and ribs were tender beyond belief. The vinegar based ribs sauce was superb. Great customer service. Even met the owner. I will definitely be back.

Watery New Brunswick ate is the worst. especially when you are paying too much for half a slab of flavorless baby back ribs. It’s attractive because it seems like you’re going to get some good Georgia barbeque… But you don’t. Skip it.

Vinegar based, hometown atmosphere, right price!

The food was good, but there are so many great BBQ joints in Atlanta, this one is not among the top.
Service was good and friendly and the experience was easy, but the food was not the best I have ever had.

From the moment you step in, this place smells right. Old Brick Pit does it right. And they’ve been doing it right for something like forty years. OBP was founded in 1976, and has changed owners at least once. But they have not altered their winning ways. As I said before, walking into the restaurant is a certain olfactory seduction. You just have to appreciate it for a moment before ordering. And the menu is fairly simple. Pork (and ribs, of course) and chicken are the headliners. You can get them in a sandwich, or as a platter, or by the pound. I tried the combo plate: 2 ribs on top of some chopped pork, some slaw, and some brunswick stew. (And the obligatory piece of Texas Toast – which may or may not have been toasted.)
I was very happy with my meal. The price points are just right. I’m not generally a fan of vinegar-​based barbecue, but the food was just as good as it smelled. The rib meat fell right of the bone, and didn’t even require sauce. The pork was «finished» with OBP’s signature peppery tomato-​vinegar sauce. Tasty. As was the slaw: creamy, but not dripping creamy. My friends seemed to love their Brunswick stew. I liked it, but I think I was on acetic acid-​overload at this point and could not fully appreciate it.
There are other things on the menu that look good. Things like potato salad, and cobbler. I may have to try those next time. I should also note that a steady stream of «to go» orders was being served as we sat and ate our meal – and this was on a Saturday after Thanksgiving. Service was quick. Indeed, the actual serving of our food happened almost immediately. Our food was ready before we’d found a table.
In summary, after so many times driving past this place, we were glad to finally stop and check it out.

This place really is a hole in the wall. Most people probably drive by here every day and never think of stopping. Their loss, as was mine the many times I’ve driven by before finally stopping. The place itself is low key: a few seats and tables, a short menu, nothing fancy… But the BBQ does not disappoint and neither do the prices. My only (small) complaint was that my pulled pork was a bit dry, but I did come short before closing. I will definitely return. The food was overall great.

The pulled pork was ok, the ribs were better. Pretty much Ok — not bad, not great. I’ll probably go to Pig’N’Chik in the future. They have brisket and surprisingly this place does not.

My husband and I pass this place every week on our costco run. It looks like an old run-​down hole in the wall. Each time we drove by, we would only see several cars at a time so we were suspicious! But when we went for lunch on a weekday, this place was bumpin’! The parking lot was full. The patio seating was full. It seemed as if everyone

The menu is actually fairly simple. Pulled pork, combination plates, BBQ chicken! When a restaurant only has a few items on the menu and does it well, it’s the best. The food was pretty good. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich for $ 3. The pulled pork is actually very moist and delicious! The ribs are a different style. I’m not a rib connoisseur so can’t confirm but the ribs were smoked and not fall off the bone but it would come off with a bite. It had a glaze on parts of the rib. It was fine but I admit… I prefer «fall off the bone, melt in my mouth»…
This place was good although not the best (in my books)!
Also, they have the vinegar based BBQ sauce, no sweet BBQ sauce. Just a note in case you’re into or not into vinegar based or sweet!

Coming from a city known for BBQ, Memphis– Old Brick Pit BBQ is a place I dream of, but rarely find. A hole in the wall with good solid food for a reasonable price.
The ribs are amazing; meaty, tender, and full of flavor. I’m not a fan of the vinegar sauce, so I usually get my order to go and put my preferred sauce on it at home. The combo plate is a deal at $ 10.25 and includes about a ¼ lb pulled pork, two very meaty ribs, stew, slaw, extra sauce and bread, it’s easily two meals. I love the BBQ sandwiches, $ 3 each and plenty filling with a side.
Service is quick and friendly (order at the counter), really, it doesn’t get any better:)

Simple, nothing over the top but delicious! The sandwiches have s hefty portion of meat. The sauce is just enough and the service is friendly and fast. The sides are just as tasty as the BBQ sandwiches and sweet tea is perfect for a hot Georgia afternoon.

I randomly stopped by this place on the way back from work one day. This restaurant is old in appearance as it has been around for almost 40 years as it says on its sign out front. You order at the counter and can eat inside or take it to go. The menu itself is very simple featuring pulled pork and ribs for the meant and baked beans, brunswick stew, and coleslaw for the sides. They also have peach cobbler for dessert when available and it wasn’t available when I was actually there.
They have different combinations for each of those items but I decided to go with the combination plate so I could try a little bit of everything. My combination plate came with pulled pork, 3 ribs, brunswick stew, baked beans, and 2 slices of bread for about $ 10. They put a little bit of bbq sauce on the pork which seemed to be vinegar based and slightly sweet. That same sauce is also located at all the tables but there are not other bbq sauces available. All the food was just ok, nothing out of the ordinary for any of it. The amount of food for the price was adequate but the quality was just average.

I’ve been going here for years. Excellent BBQ. Love the pulled pork, ribs and chicken. One of the few places that use Hams, as opposed to Pork Shoulders. (Leaner and holds the smoke well). Vinegar based sauce is perfect. Brunswick Stew is one of the best in town. Prices are very good. Staff are friendly and place has a nice old school BBQ joint feel. Covered outside deck as well. Lucky to have in the area!

Sandwich priced fair for what you get. $ 3.00. It is nothing special, no smoke, no end pieces. Cope slaw okay, service was quick.

Good, simple menu. Consistent. Like to see everything cooked and BBQ pit right in front of you when you order.

I like bbq fine enough– mainly pulled pork– but Dad *really* likes it. His closest fave is OPB and wanted to introduce me tonight. Awesome choice on such a ghastly night.
Walk in, check out the big chalkboard menu, order at the counter. Voila, go enjoy. I love the kitschy old school trays and the red booths. Food wise, I’d get the pork sandwich every time: moist meat, a bit of bbq sauce (enough for me) with more on the table so you can add. And the second part is the just-​right– light, perfectly-​soft, not-​overly-​thick bun. This sandwich is not that big, more hockey puck big– just enough for me to eat all, but one that needs sides and such if you’re a bigger eater. The full combo plate with ribs, pork, Brunswick stew and coleslaw is a whole lot of food; like you didn’t eat all day til dinner whole lot. Dad highly endorses as a good olé Southern boy would.
Good choice on a sucky night– now I know a place in the ‘hood where I am happy to go for ‘cue.

I visited Old Brick Pit Barbeque for a lunch during a late December 2014 day. It was a nice day, «cool» of course, but sunny and bright. I have driven past OBPBBQ an «infinity» number of times and it always seems packed at lunch so I finally decided to give it a try…
I found the food quality to be very «meh» though I «sort of» liked the «so-old-it’s-retro» interior and building. (Interesting side note: there is a framed piece of art, a «self-​portrait» of famed illustrator Jack DAvis, a resident of Savannah and longtime contributor to the film and magazine industries, notably Mad magazine.)
You enter through their plastic-​enclosed patio (basically an unadorned concrete slab) and though i did not see any handicap parking nor wheelchair ramp, I did notice an older patron in a wheelchair eating on the patio (probably because he couldn’t get through their doors to the inside).
You pass through the doors and there will likely be a line you will join to order at the counter. The menu is very limited with reasonable prices (but the quality matches that) so you should not have much trouble making up your mind. You will order at the counter and your order is made up right then and there and fairly quickly.
I tried their pulled pork sandwich and brunswick stew. Both of which were marginally o.k. Other «sides» available are baked beans and slaw. Ribs are on the menu also. Everything is served on unsustainable Styrofoam … (Smh).
The clientele here ranges from day workers to office workers but whatever kind of work you do … if you sit inside OBPBBQ you will remember it because you will smell like pit smoke for the rest of the day … (are you thinking «eeeeewwwwhhh», right about now?) so sit on the patio or do take out or find a place with better ventilation.

Let me start off with 3 stars which means I will return and I was satisfied. I had not researched this location prior to arriving and I wish I had so I would have been a little more prepared for their «procedures». Be advised, no one will tell you when your food will be ready or where to get your drinks or anything for that matter. You walk in and instantly smell like a smoker as you wait in line with no one that is close to your age range. It is very bizarre, but the good part is coming. The food.
After ordering my combo plate and a water I looked for seating as it is rare and expected someone to let me know when my food was up. Or at least bring it to me. Neither happened, but I saw all of the old men grabbing their food where I ordered so I made my way back up and my food sitting was there. Odd. I also had to pour my own water which was also on the small counter where I ordered and where 15 or so construction workers were hovering around.
I finally sat down with my friend who ordered the same thing and one of their best qualities is consistency. Our plates looked identical which I can’t say the same for other BBQ places we have gone to. The pork was delicious and well sauced. This was my first attempt ever at cole slaw and it was delicious. I had enough food to make a small pork sandwich w/​slaw, 2 big ribs, more pulled pork and plenty of brunswick stew. All food was warm and tasty. Not the best, but worth every penny and you could feel the warmth of the staff in the food.
Overall, this is a good spot if you’re not looking for décor or a social scene. Focus on the taste and you will be happy.

Old Brick Pit BBQ recently extended their hours, so they’re now open from 11am until 8pm (used to be 7pm), Monday through Saturday. Still closed Sundays.
This is an old-​fashioned BBQ joint in Brookhaven, just north of Oglethorpe University. The restaurant is easy to miss because of its nondescript appearance. The building looks like a glorified shack, its top made to resemble a red barn complete with traditional-​style barn doors. The place looks like it’s been around for decades. Old Brick Pit got its name for the old brick pit smoker that was designed by the original owners and is still in use today.
Old Brick Pit uses vinegar-​based BBQ sauce. However, it doesn’t taste like the vinegar-​based sauces in my home state of North Carolina. It actually tastes like a mixture between sauces from North Carolina and Georgia. Whereas NC sauces tend to be more vinegary, Old Brick Pit’s BBQ sauce has some extra sweetness to it.
The restaurant’s menu is simple, which is a good thing: BBQ pork (pulled), ribs, BBQ chicken, Brunswick stew, coleslaw, baked beans, and peach cobbler. The BBQ sandwich is only $ 2.75. Plates are anywhere from $ 6.40 to $ 9.75 each. All of this is a good deal, especially considering the amount of food you get. Generous portions.
I’ve tried just about everything on the menu. The $ 9.60 combination plate seems to be the best deal if you want a good sampling of what the restaurant has to offer. It comes with BBQ pork, 2 ribs, stew, slaw, and 2 small slices of plain, soft white bread. The stew also comes with a pack of crackers.
Old Brick’s BBQ sauce isn’t bad, but I’m not a huge fan. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s just not as tasty to me as some of the other BBQ sauces around town. Unfortunately, this affects all the meat.
I like how the pulled pork is separated into finer, smaller strands. I prefer it this way. The only downside to the pulled pork is it’s a bit tough and chewy. It could stand to be softer. Then again, they don’t use pork butts or pork shoulders here, so that’s part of the reason. I found myself slathering on more sauce than I wanted to.
The ribs are OK. Good flavor and consistency. The chicken is the surprise — it’s very tender and juicy. If you haven’t tried it, I’d definitely give it a shot. The stew is below average, unappetizing. However, I really like the slaw. Crispy, crunchy, and the appropriate amount of tanginess! I like to add black pepper to my slaw to make it taste even better.
I love the sweet tea ($ 1.50) here. It’s super sweet and made all the better with crushed ice. Free refills.
Old Brick Pit has a casual, laid back atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Order at the register and pick up at the counter. Disposable Styrofoam plates and cups and plastic silverware. Indoor booth seating and covered outdoor patio seating is available.
Come during the day, preferably at lunchtime or in the afternoon, for the freshest and best-​tasting BBQ. At night, they close the kitchen and serve food that’s cooked from earlier in the day (still not bad, but not as good as fresh-​cooked).
