Post Lindbergh

I have lived at Post Lindbergh for the past 1.5 years and am leaving because they are increasing my rent. Really bummed.
Pros: Gated community. It feels safe to walk around at night.
Office Staff is nice and helpful.
Apartment complex is clean and they are trying to make it nicer to compete with surrounding complexes.
It is close to MARTA and is in a great area right between Buckhead and Midtown.
Cons:
Older building, walls are cracked, my specific apartment was not updated and it looked like a bad 80’s apartment. The ventilation is awful, and my apartment constantly smells of cigarette smoke because of neighbors who smoke indoors. The knobs and cabinets have been peeling and cracking since day one, but I assume this is why they are increasing my rent to a ridiculous rate — so that they can get me out and renovate and then charge higher prices.
Because the building is older, the internet wiring is horrendous and the only company you can get internet through is Comcast. Comcast is the devil. Internet is always awful. However, I keep getting notifications that Google Fiber is coming to the area so maybe Post Properties will do the best thing for their community and link up with Google Fiber instead.
Leasing office isn’t open at convenient hours. It is only open from 10:00 to 5:00 PM, and I don’t know a single working professional who can make these hours work for them unless they go to the leasing office on the weekend. However, again — the staff is very nice and helpful so if all you need is to talk to someone, a phone call works.
It is not a bad place to live, I am just bitter that I am having to apartment seek at this time. After seeing other apartments in the area at the same price point I was paying, it seems a little ridiculous for the cost to be so expensive. I guess location is their main factor.
Some advice: Do not live on the first floor — there were 13 breakins all of first-​floor apartments while I lived here. I lived on an upper-​floor apartment and personally never had a security issue.

Having lived here for a year, here are the pros and cons of living in this community
Pros:
— Location — steps from MARTA and a very short drive to everything in Buckhead
— Management team — the people in the leasing office are great. Any work order that you put in is handled within 24 hrs.
–Gas range — If you like to cook, it is much easier to do it on a gas cooking range (which difficult to find in Atlanta these days)
Cons:
–Break-​ins — Every summer they report quite a few break-​in in their apartments
–Old — The apartments are quite old. Although they are renovating (mostly the kitchen and living area) they do have a look and feel of an old apartment. In spite of that I would like to mention that the community is very clean
–Water bill — Per unit water charge is very high. $ 80 water bill for a 1 bed apt was a bit of a surprise to me

We moved into Post Lindbergh in January 2012, and have been very happy here. We work at the airport, so having the Lindbergh Marta station just a few steps away is very convenient.
The apartments are a bit dated, but are being renovated. Because I knew I’d be here for awhile, and because this is my home, not just a crash pad, I changed out all the light fixtures and cabinet pulls myself. Basically, whatever I wanted to do to the place, short of knocking down walls, was okay with the management.
Speaking of management, they’ve always been great with us (especially Kirsten!). All maintenance requests were handled in a timely manner, the landscaping is beautiful, and the facilities (gym, pool, trash) are cleaned every day.
Yes, you will hear your upstairs neighbors sometimes, and sometimes they will hear you. That’s apartment life. Invest in some earplugs and turn on the ceiling fan. Problem solved.
The only negative (and it’s a big one if you’re not native to Atlanta and accustomed to high crime rates) is that every Friday night at least one (and sometimes two, as in my case) apartment will be burglarized. It’s always Friday evening, between 7:00 and 9:00, when most people are out to dinner. And it’s almost always the same three guys.
Our apartment, and that of our friends a few doors down, was broken into just before Christmas 2012. A week later our vehicles were broken into. But, junior crime fighters that we are, we installed ADT and decided to form the Friday Night Neighborhood Watch Happy Hour. We mix our cocktails, get our baseball bats and mace, and stroll the grounds. On two occasions we almost caught the guys, but, unfortunately, they were younger and faster than us, and slippery as eels. Or perhaps our cocktails were slowing us down. Hmmmmm… guess we’ll never really know.
In a nutshell, this was a great place to live. Don’t be turned off by the break-​ins, because they happen in the best of neighborhoods in this city. Just be aware and take steps to protect yourself.
We’re turning in our keys tomorrow and moving to Denver. I’ll update again later with a review of our move out process, but I expect it to go as smoothly as the last three years.

I will start my review by pointing out that I have never lived here. I am a property manager for a complex out of state (different company). Now that I have that disclaimer out of the way…
I recently visited my friend here when I was visiting and I was so impressed with the location, the grounds, and her apartment that I wanted to write a review!
While I was there I never heard any one around her and the neighbors I met seemed very friendly.
She has a large dog, so it is a plus they are pet friendly.
I was very impressed by the amenities they they offered. Especially their community garden, it was great to see so much green in the city. Their tennis courts were well maintained and they were actually used!
Her apartment was a great size for a studio and the counters and bathrooms looked great!
She tells me she hasn’t experienced any issues with the staff and her move in process went smoothly.
We had a hard time figuring out how to get in using the visitor gate keypad, but eventually we figured it out.
The location was close to everything!
If I move back to Atlanta I will definitely be coming in for a tour!

I transferred here to get out of a different property that was essentially a hell hole. I moved into a one bedroom on the 3^rd floor. The apartment was a great size for me and prime location if you go to any sporting events downtown or to the Buckhead bars. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Very quick to respond to emails, helpful with my move in and I always received reminders about what was going on in the community, good or bad. I think the only downside to this property is the parking (depending on what building you’re in). I was in one pretty far from the deck, so if I didn’t get a space in front of my building, which was nearly impossible since there is no assigned parking for residents vs. visitors, I would have a decent walk. Other than that and a little bit of city noise from the busy roads I would highly recommend Post Lindbergh to anyone looking to move.
