Booked my girlfriend a last minute appointment here. She was able to walk in early and they accommodated her when she needed her eyebrows done as well.
Nou was great and very helpful in guiding her to the right cut and showing her how to style it.

This is MY NATURAL HAIR!!! no extensions here, baby! And, it’s all thanks to Josh! I was starting to go bald from the horrible extensions and bleaching that it was time to try a new saloon. Thank god he put up with me for over five years because now I feel confident without my extensions. JOSH is a unicorn when it comes to coloring, that’s how wonderful I think he is! :) Every penny I spent was well worth it. Thank you Josh for saving my hair (now I believe you about my hair not being like arm hair haha). Josh comes highly recommended from me! Especially for blondes.

Mina is the most amazing stylist I have ever been to. I came to her with awful, yellow bleached, horribly damaged hair and she transformed it into the most beautiful hair I have ever had. She is a miracle worker! She is very considerate of your hair needs and everything she does is well planned and thought through. She is so sweet and personable and really just love going to see her.

I don’t use this place but my wife does. She was thrilled with the work Shannel did on her hair (actually we both were). Shannel listens carefully to her client’s requests, and spends a lot of time and care. They use a specific brand of coloring (Goldwell) that my wife prefers that is not easy to find. Lasts longer and looks better. She will go back!

Overall disappointed. Went in for a half balayage and I do really like the color. However I was passed off to multiple stylists throughout the experience and was charged $ 28 for a «blow-​dry» that was basically barely enough to get me out the door without wet hair. No styling, no products. Will not be back.

I’m always VERY hesitant about trying a new hair salon (I feel like your hair really affects how you look haha) — so I was definitely nervous walking into Salon Skanda. But WOW. Josh trimmed my hair and did balayage and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I wasn’t even sure what color highlights I wanted (so I let him pick) and I swear it was the exact color that I didn’t even know I wanted. A little pricey, but SO worth the money. Already booked my next appointment!

Fantastic service and friendly staff! Shannel was friendly, professional and gave me one of the best cuts I’ve had in years! I’m spoilt! Even though I’m visiting from out of town I’m going to have to schedule my visits with a hair cut here in future. Thanks for a great first visit! :)

I got my hair colored by the beautifully talented Heather Binder Dunbar! She did an awesome job and it was worth every penny! I can’t even tell you how many compliments I get on my hair color! She has a creative eye for hair and color! Def recommend her! She took my brown hair from drab to fab and have me exactly what I wanted!

I got an up-​do from Lauren and she did a fabulous job — everyone complimented me on my hair that evening.
Robbie was also nice enough to do my make-​up as a last minute request and I felt 100x better than I did when I walked in.

I went for my first visit yesterday and was a nervous wreck waiting for my appointment! I have been in search of a new stylist who can do it all — cut and color. It’s been tough to find someone who can do both, isn’t always running late, doesn’t keep me for 4 hours and someone who I can easily get appointments with. It really seemed impossible.
I made an appointment with Heather after much stalking and Googling. I work full time, so I need evening appointments which are hard to come by it seems. But thus salon offers late hours on certain days of the week — perfect! I arrived just a few minutes before my appointment time and was immediately taken back and offered something to drink — when wine was an option I wanted to hug the guy.
Heather did a fantastic job on both my cut and color — I didn’t want anything drastic, just a simple trim and highlights for my blonde hair. She didn’t try to take creative liberties and gave me exactly what I asked for. I also must mention, for a cut AND a color, I was in and out in just under 2 hours! That was such a blessing to me — Heather was on time, and didn’t take up too much of mine. I very much appreciated it.
The salon is in the heart of Buckhead — there’s a parking garage where you can park for free (another bonus). My first experience was exceptional — not to mention it didn’t break my bank. I will definitely be coming back.

Just got my hair did and I’m quite pleased. KIA was awesome and very sweet, she offered great advice as to the hair color that would look great on me.
I purchased a $ 165 voucher for $ 75 on Half depot and used this to get a color, cut and style. Used the voucher to pay without any problems or upsell or extra costs.
Overall I’m very pleased.

Heather has colored my hair 3 times and cut it 3 times… She has changed my hair life!!! She gave me full bangs and ombré the first time and BRAVO Heather… ! She changed me back to dark later and kept upkeep on my bangs… I luv these bangs she gave me and I will probably keep them forever. She had made me so much more open and trusting to changing my look! They also have great specials… All their employees rock my world!

I’ve now been to Salon Skanda 3 times (hair cuts & dyes) and have really grown to love it.
I’m rather particular about my hair cuts– I have really thick, fine hair– and I have been to big name salons around Atlanta only to find that no matter the price point there are hair dressers who just follow a formula and cut my hair incorrectly. Gwen though is meticulous– she asks questions and cuts it to suit what I’ve noticed since my last cut. Furthermore, she’s a great teacher– no one has ever taken the time to help me understand better how to get the right curl, get my hair to lay straighter, etc. She’s just extremely patient and thorough with her instructions– love that.
As proof of that the compliments on the cut are HUGE the day after the salon visit, but they continue after because Gwen has taken the time to teach me how to style it just right. The key with any stylist is communication. If I’m not telling her how I want to style it– she can’t be expected to know how to help me.
The service of the salon go beyond my favorite stylist though– each time I’m in EVERY person is conversational, thoughtful and professional. Super excited to call this salon my new hair home.

I have to jump in and give my own review of this salon and its stylist Gwen. My coworker Christina has been going to Gwen for years and absolutely loves her — and I can first-​hand testify that Christina’s haircuts and colors, including the one she got last week, are always phenomenal.
I can’t wait to give Gwen a try for myself next time I need a cut. The proof’s in the pudding: she knows what she’s doing with a pair of shears (and I hear on the D-​L that there may be wine offered, which is always a bonus for me).

I went to the salon about a year ago to get the Global Keratin treatment at a discounted Groupon price. I explained to the girl what I wanted and she mixed up the corresponding formula. When I left, my hair was smooth the way it should be after a keratin treatment. Understand that keratin treatments usually last about 4 – 6 months. The first one I had done (at a previous salon) lasted 5 months, so I knew my hair took to the product well. However, the treatment I had at this salon only lasted a month and my hair was back to being unruly and strawlike. I did not call the salon to complain assuming they would make some kind of excuse and not help me.
When I became a customer they put me on their mailing list. After about 10 months, I replied to one of their emails and asked them to take me off since I had no intention of returning. The manager, Kevin, replied and wanted to know what the problem was. I told him about my keratin treatment and how the results were disappointing. He explained that GK had some formulaic changes and that they had other clients who had problems with GK. He said they dropped that line of keratin and were now using Coppolla and offered to give me a complimentary «do over». This was almost ONE YEAR after the initial service. I totally did not expect any salon to offer this after such a long time. He really flabbergasted me.
I went for my complimentary service yesterday and Tera took care of me. She was very friendly, easy going, and took her time with me. It is a long process — almost 3 hours. Being a «freebie» you might expect to be rushed. But she did not rush me. She took all the time required to ensure that the job was done right. She was so patient.
As Tera was finishing up, Kevin came over and apologized for my previous experience and thanked ME for giving his salon another chance. Again, I was incredulous. I was thanking HIM that he would care that much about the customer that he would offer to take care me after such a long time.
If the Coppolla brand of keratin lasts at least 4 months, I will be back again. I live in Snellville, so this is a bit of a trek for me, but for this kind of service, it’s worth the drive!

the salon, as you can tell from the photos, has modern décor and is very clean. the receptionist, brian, is very courteous over the phone and also offers you a beverage of your choice when you walk in.
i arrived a little early for my appointment with heather, and it appeared that i was scheduled into the middle of another client’s hair color processing time. i think because of this scheduling, my appointment began late, and i felt heather rushed through the cut so she could get to her other client. the result of the cut isn’t bad, i got compliments on it from a few people after, but i think the process (got smacked in the face a couple times with my own wet hair while she was combing it out to cut /​directed the hair dryer at one spot on my scalp a little too long for comfort while she was adjusting something) and the style itself could have been closer to what i’d wanted had heather had more time. my total was $ 25 + tip.
in summary: great clean salon, overall friendly staff. i would definitely still give this place another shot and hope i’m not scheduled in the middle of someone else’s appointment.

Women’s haircuts are expensive. Not only does our hair grow like freaking Rapunzel, but if we want to keep it decently looking it HAS to cost a small fortune. If you pay less than $ 20 for a whole haircut then you’re probably someone’s guinea pig at a school, if you pay $ 50, then you are probably only getting 0.1 inch off your hair with no styling.
Damn. Its like a freakin hair monopoly!!!
So here I am– hating hair salons as shit but desperately needing to get rid of my dry ends. Since this place only had 4 reviews and an overall good score, I decided to trust it. Plus, it had the 50% off with Unilocal and I figured that since I was only trimming my ends, there was minimal damage that could be done to my hair.
Just like we have good and bad servers we also have good and bad customers. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the best costumer for Skanda. As soon as I got on the chair, I got a phone call that I could not get rid of and had to stay on the line (even on speaker while my hair was getting washed) through a big chunk of the appointment. Regardless of my rude behavior, the stylist was still super understanding and still managed to get the gist of what i wanted her to do. My haircut (though simple, as desired) was just what I wanted to keep it healthy. Moreover, at 50% off (first time customers), I only paid $ 26 +tip which made my trip all more worthwhile. To add to it, the front-​desk girl got me coffee, hung my coat and was very accommodating.
So overall, pretty affordable and a great experience. They also do 25% off referrals, which means the referred and referee both get a 25% each. So… if you plan on going, let me know so we can both get a discount on the deal (wink wink)

I found a «special» on a Global Keratin treatment for this salon about a month ago and came in. My friend told me on the same day that she really needed a hair cut, so I gave up some of my appt. time for her to have that as well.
To start, this place is in a great «location» but has terrible visibility. The actual salon is in an office park which looks like a law firm or dentist office. I can’t imagine that anybody could really find this place for the first time without calling. I think they could double their business by having a better sign outside.
When I approached the «office building» I was weary of how good this salon could be. Thank goodness I was very pleased to walk into a very modern salon environment. The salon offered me a glass of wine while I was waiting and I thought that was pretty nice.
My friend went for her haircut first. She LOVED the results. This is a barber shop style salon so there are roughly four or five chairs side by side in front of long mirrors. Everybody is talking while getting their hair down and its a friendly social environment.
I was next (for the keratin) and I have to say I really didn’t like the results. The process was pretty painful and lasted over 3 hours. I really can’t tell any difference in my hair except that it just looks flat and feels like it has product in it all the time. :(For $ 200 I wish I felt like I paid for something that was useful, but it was pretty much a total let down/​waste of money I wish i could have back.
That being said, the salon has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I don’t like what Keratin did to my hair. The sweet girl practically stayed until 10:30pm to finish it (which is way later than they close) Overall I plan to stick with my usual salon for color but I think I would totally try this place out for a cut (since its close by, affordable and they did a great cut on my friend)

After four years of living away from the most glamorous city in the south, I’m still planning my trips to Atlanta around my hair appts– sorry but ’tis true. I have strawberry blonde hair and it’s difficult to find a great stylist who can add just the right tough of gold to my locks. Low lights, highlights and anything in between– kevin will have you stepping out of his newly renovated salon lookin’ like a bonafide vixen~
