The Scary Party Pub Crawl took place at eight bars/restaurants/clubs in Midtown. They included Deadwood Saloon, Vickery’s, Front Page News, Flip Flops, Koo Koo Room, Tin Lizzy’s, Sutra Lounge, and CosmoLava. Tickets cost $ 10 in advance online(plus a small convenience fee) or $ 15 at the event. The event started 8pm Friday and lasted into the night. A ticket was good for one wristband, which allowed access to all of the locations listed above as well as each business’s food and drink specials. There were many good deals to be had, such as Front Page News’ $ 5 Hurricanes and Deadwood Saloon’s 20% discount off all food. It was a good time because most everyone came in costume including many of the staff members(bartenders, servers, etc.) of each of the establishments. Each place was also decked out in Halloween decorations of varying degrees. The Koo Koo Room was the most impressive with spider webbing everywhere, a ghoul that greeted you at the entrance, family portraits that changed under different lighting to reveal scary zombies, and haunted lights that flickered. Sutra was probably the most fun destination in terms of dancing and overall vibe. Registration was at Deadwood Saloon, so the ratio of costumed people to non-costumed, non-pub crawl people was highest there. They provided a small schedule and map of all the entertainment. There were recommended times to show up at each bar/club, but nobody really followed it. By the end of the night, there was a mixture of costumed pub-crawlers, regular party-goers, etc. at each of the different venues. In the end, it was a fun time, especially since we had access to so many different places.
