I went into Sears since the parking was easy and we were in desperation mode looking for a suit for our son. They had a bunch of polyester crap which I still had to tell my wife to forgetaboutit. Either Sears needs to fire it’s buyer or drop that line of business.

Sears sells appliances under the Kenmore brand. We have a Kenmore Elite Trio fridge that has 2 side by side doors and large pull out freezer below. The reviews on this un it were good, but I suspect that the various reviewers did not have the blessings of time spent with the unit. It freezes the water lines to the inside water dispenser, the water filter and the ice maker. we hired a reputable service person who charged us $ 60 to tell us that he sees this all the time. his fix was to use a small plastic bottle with a long skinny snout to squirt hot water into the lines to melt the blockage. However, he said, «it’s only a matter of time until this freezes up again. can you say«design flaw?» No more Sears appliances for us!

A-OK in my book– just slightly less frustrating to go to than Home Depot or Lowe’s, since they have staff dedicated to making money selling their appliances. I bought my washer & dryer here… I did my research ahead of time, so hopefully the appliances themselves will turn out ok over time. The salesperson I dealt with was straightforward, seemed knowledgable about the differences between all the machines, and didn’t try to sell me one over another. I even had him agree to deliver other items I bought in the store along with the machines, which isn’t usually done but since I was getting a delivery anyway, he arranged it to work with the delivery truck logistics. When I bought the machines and found a lower price at another store a couple days later, he gave me a credit with the price adjustment to match the other store. The technicians came to install– they were on time, and quick to install it in very tight space. Fingers crossed on the future lifespan of the machines, but in any case, I got good customer service, which is something to be said for all these chain stores that pretty much sell similar products.

I love how they sell land’s end and this line called apostrophe and this other cool one that I’ve forgotten to name to. But these lines were really inexpensive and had 60% off on top of that! say it with me… awesome!

I wish they had a negative rating, because this is one ghetto store, with idiots as employees and obviously terrible managers. We purchased a refrigerator from this store, and even though every single technician they send to our house says the unit is defective, come to find out that Kenmore fridges don’t cover the ice maker under warranty. It’s terrible, it spills water every time we get ice, and/or just doesn’t give us ice. So we’ve dealt with the horrible Sears customer support number, that was no help. So we talked to every manager including the store director. Also no help. These uneducated idiots don’t care about their customers and are busy looking forward to going home at the end of shift. Don’t buy anything here, besides, the crime rate at Cumberland mall is terrible.

No stars. Completely incompetent bait and switch operation going on in «Electronics» and ordering on line for pick up. Frauds. Ordered a TV, got confirmation that it is «ready for pickup», some guy calls me 5 minutes BEFORE the email arrives confirming the order and says«it’s not in stock». Then tries to switch me to some crap TV. Never again with any Sears. Beware of this store’s Electronics’s dept. for sure. They also took the balance of a $ 250.00 gift card on the item«that’s not in stock» and it will take at least«3 weeks» to credit the gift card. This is Sears speak for«it will really take 3 months to credit your card, if you’re lucky».

I have been trying to do more of my own work on my house and car. One lesson I keep learning over and over again, and I think FINALLY has been burned into my brain is… If you need tools, just do like your dad did and go to Sears. Skip the garbage at Home Depot. If you need something off the wall, or truly professional grade, its a good bet Sears will have it and HD won’t. Most of Home Depot’s tools are Chinese-made junk. A lot(though not all) of Sears’ own Craftsman brand is American made and superior in quality. Prices are actually very reasonable too! Also, I saved 10% because I had a Sears card I got 7 years ago when I bought a refrigerator and never used since. until this past weekend. That was extra nice of the cashier to let me know I could charge to it even though I didn’t have it in my possession(they did do a verification though)
