Asked Sol to stitch a button hole to my new shirt. Received my shirt today and the button hold looks completely off. They owner was rude and said you you want the same button hold you should send the shirt to china factory. Very frustrating and would not recommend.

Found the place on Unilocal, and took in two cashmere sweaters and a wool vest that had moth holes with the hopes that they would be able to make the repairs, a lady at the counter, took half a glance at the sweaters and started counting moth holes, after a few seconds looked up at me and said, no… to many holes. insert sinking heart feelings, when I asked if she had any recommendations and she turned and began speaking in what I assume is her native tonuge and a man came up the stairs, looked at the sweater and made the decision, that the sweaters were vintage and the cost to repair the holes would cost more than it would take to just buy new cashmere sweaters. Basically, he was honest and told me up front, that it was not worth his time or mines to attempt to repair the holes. Anybody know of a good cashmere sweater sale going on right now?

Great place. Brought in a leather coat and got it fixed for less than half of what the other tailor wanted. Great quality and turnaround time. The guy has 40+ years of experience. Nice to see a family business in the heart of Buckhead.

Winter in ATL never happened in 2011. It was seldom cold enough for a coat but weather but it was chilly enough to enjoy wearing cuddly cashmere. Moths had attacked several sweaters at some time, maybe the previous season. They had made some –but not a lot– headway. I’d taken the sweaters to my dry cleaners only to find they did not do reweaving. My friend and I had been on errands in the neighborhood around Andrews Square. I saw Sol Alterations and remembered that in the 1980s they used to be recommended by the best department stores. There was some fantastic classical music playing on in the store. The man at the counter(who may have been the store’s owner?) was nice to say the least. Together we examined my sweaters for the moth holes. I had brought in the original repair thread which came with the Bloomie’s and NM sweaters. I was provided a reasonable price for the repairs. It was less than the price of replacing one sweater. I picked up the order a week or so later. Before packing away my sweaters with moth sachets I examined the work. My sweaters looked gorgeous, better than when I’d brought them in. If not ‘marked’ with a loose white thread I’d never know any repairs had been done. *smile*I’m a happy customer. I know where I’ll be taking clothing for alterations now. This man cares about quality. Buckhead is a competitive market for such services and Sol’s is the top!
