AHHH. Wish I could give a 4. The owner was super nice & very attentive to everyone. I could tell he’s trying his best to make everyone happy. 5⁄5 for Parking. Southern Famous BBQ is in a strip that has Kroger in it. So … there’s a lot of parking. I rarely see this lot full and I pass by here everyday. Inside — it looks a little small. They do have tables and chairs but not many. Another thing I noticed was Soda area. Each of the pumps say«see cashier» on a sticky post hand written. That kind of looks a little tacky to me. I’d just leave the soda refill machine in the back then and have the cashier ask what kind of soda a customer wants when they order a combo, etc. But that’s just my thought process. The food is presented in a cafeteria style. Right in front of you through the window. They have to constantly mix the food to make sure it doesn’t get too cold or etc. Food — I’d come here for lunch when they have a lot of sides available. When I came by for dinner, several sides were gone. :( For like $ 8 or $ 9, you get A LOT of food. Wow. I got mine to go and my box was definitely full. *I had the pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides combo * The quality of the corn was ok. It doesn’t really look that healthy to eat. I just got it since the other side items weren’t my ideal choice. I ate some of it. I didn’t get sick off it, so I guess that’s good?! Macaroni and Cheese — this was better compared to the corn. I should note though: I’m not an expert on mac n cheese. I don’t eat it often. I have no idea if this tasted home made or bought somewhere else. But I liked it! Went well with hot sauce The Pulled Pork sauce is a little spicy. It made the pork so much better. The sandwich is massive. Like whoa. The pork is average. I’m not a big fan of BBQ in general, so I didn’t hate it. Just the meat was kind of fatty. The bread that’s used is pretty big & strong. My sandwich didn’t fall a part. :D Overall, I’d come back if I just want something cheap to eat.

I have been to this place several times mostly because its close to home and cheap. The offering are solid if you’re ok with the idea of a BBQ place that is not really BBQ. I more so consider this a soul food joint with BBQ sauce slathered over the meats. This is not the place if you want quality smoked meats. As many pointed out majority of the sides are canned vegetables with some doctoring up, however most are seasoned well. Given the price and taste if you are in a fix for some decent soul food its worth checking out. Pros Cheap eats Macaroni and Cheese is Homemade Collard Greens are made from scratch(ususally) and tasty Sauce is great Peach cobbler is solid and offered as a side item Cons Décor is seriously lacking, just looks unorganized. Run out of products often Sauce only comes in one variety Most side items are not homemade or made in house Tip Chicken appears to be the best offered meat

Owner was polite and accommodating. FYI don’t go close to closing time. I ordered a rib plate with Mac n cheese and greens. I got a plate of mushy fat with BBQ sauce. Greens were gross and Mac n cheese was dry. I won’t be back.

I second J Adam. Owner ran the counter for me and quickly served delicious, homestyle mac n cheese, pulled pork, and baked beans. I’m going back soon.

Great prices… but cafeteria style food. Went on the day of their grand opening. Fries were undercooked and soggy. Canned corn was just heated up with no seasoning(cans of the corn are stocked in the dining room). «Texas Toast» that sandwiches comes on is NOT toast, but is just bread. Chicken sandwich is a chicken leg/thigh thrown on bread. They have bbq turkey burgers but it is frozen Kroger turkey burgers that they put bbq sauce on and bun was cold right out of refrigerator. Mashed potatoes are instant powder mashed potatoes. Out of mac-and-cheese and out of pickles. I get one or two of these oddities but all of them combined for GRANDOPENING is just a bad sign. If you need inexpensive and nice staff, you can get that here but the food is not worth it.

I had high hopes for a good BBQ on the westside. Unfortunately I feel this place has some room to grow to be on the best of Atlanta list. I had the pulled pork plate with Mac n cheese and baked beans. It also comes with cornbread and Texas toast. For $ 7.26 it’s a good deal for a huge portion. The Mac n cheese was cheddary and probably the better part of the meal. The baked beans were pretty much identical to Bushs. I really was curious as to whether they just heated those up. Not a bad thing, cause Bushs are pretty good. Overall, the sides are tasty. Nothing fancy, but good for BBQ. Now for the main event, the BBQ. The pulled pork without the sauce on it was flavorless and lacked any bark or smoked flavor. It was a little soggy as well, and this might be because they keep it in burners. The sauce is spicy. If you have no spicy tolerance, I’d suggest getting it on the side. From what I could tell, that’s the only sauce they have. It’s also only behind the counter so they apply it for you. If you’re not a huge sauce person, make sure to ask for light sauce. The sauce is also pretty tangy. Overall it’s not a bad sauce, but I would’ve preferred some options. They have potential but need to work out some kinks if they want to compete to be the top.

Saw a grand opening sign next to kroger, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately they did not have ribs when I went there, so I settled with pulled pork sandwich with two sides. Lets’ start with sides. The two sides I ordered was Mac and Cheese and cole-slaw. Coleslaw is exactly same one from kroger, which is very creamy. It is actually not bad because the BBQ sauce this place use has some spicy taste into it. Mac and Cheese on the other hand was awesome. Pulled pork itself tastes little soggy probably because it was sitting on the hot plate for a while, but the sauce was magnificent. Yes it does have some spicy taste but if you are a fan of it you will love it. Pulled pork sandwich with two sides only costs $ 5.29 which is a HUGE wow factor.

I live right down the road from this place so I decided to give it a try. I walked in and found the staff and Owner very friendly. It’s a small business which I love supporting. Anyways, the food was really good, I’ve had the BBQ chicken and the Turkey Burger, and the staff hooks it up with huge portions and sides.(The Mac and Cheese is my favorite). When I checked out I was given a home made lemonade on the house which was a nice gesture. The best part about the restaurant, besides the taste, is the prices which are very reasonable. I’ll be going back again for sure.

Went to Kroger and saw the Grand Opening sign of Southern Famous BBQ. I ordered the Ribs and Brisket. Amazing and delicious. BIG size order with BIG sides. Very reasonably priced. The owner is very friendly. My husband LOVEDIT. Which says a lot.
