This is a quiet neighborhood park with a couple of walking trails, a playground and picnic tables here and there throughout the woods. If you’re looking for multiple paved trails, tennis courts, a pond or even a restroom, this isn’t the place. So why four stars? I love it because, as a Riverside resident, it gives me easy access to an incredible place to take my dog. I don’t have to worry about cars on the highway or cyclists on the Silver Comet Trail. I keep her on leash but can allow her to wander and explore the woods. If you don’t live in the neighborhood and want to check it out, I’d recommend parking at the end of Spink Street and then walking along the closed portion to access the park from the back. Spink is really wide where it dead-ends, and there are no houses there to worry about parking in some resident’s way. I was surprised to find a place still so wooded and essentially untouched inside Atlanta’s city limits. I may end up reading here on weekends when I want some solitude.

WOW… I was in the area over the weekend doing a favor for my mother’s friend one evening and I drove past this park. I thought, «That’s a park?» I then hurried to check this location on Unilocal and I came across a very good review. I thought aloud again, «Lord is this the same damn place?». LOL I will go back and compare the address for this location. Maybe I had too many glasses of wine or maybe because I don’t know the area well i just didn’t spend enough time here. I was a little scared so I didn’t even stay long enough to get a pic. If I go back I’ll do another review. I’ll go earlier in the day too.

This is a nice preservation of nature within the perimeter. There are trails through the tall trees, and community residents are making efforts to restore the nice features and amenities of a park. The land was once a boy scout camp, and there are still some remnants of that, with a very neat rock fireplace and chimney, and the stone walls and foundation of a previous building or dwelling. There are several types of trees to shade you if you take a seat at one of the six or seven picnic tables along the trails. There is potential here, and the park will likely become more popular in the near future. If you are looking for a nice walk on a Saturday afternoon, I recommend. No plumbing or out houses yet, so plan ahead. :)
