I have ALWAYS felt welcomed in this store. From the friendly staff, to the friendly manager. everything. The store is always clean, well laid out, and stocked.
Honestly, this is my preferred store. After receiving less than stellar service at the Northlake location, I come out of my way to go here.
I love how the employees & manager remember me! You get greeted as soon as you walk in, if you need help it’s instant. This store is A-​1 with their customer service. I love it!

Plenty of merchandise gear footwear and sporting goods for adults and children. Friendly staff. Lots of sales items too!

I visited this location for my son’s little league baseball equipment. Cleats and glove. We asked an employee for help making sure the glove fit properly and were told that the glove guy was on the register and it would be a few minutes. After several minutes and seeing that there was a multitude of staff walking around aimlessly we took the glove we thought fit the best and headed to the shoe department where we finally got help with his size cleats. We went up to check out and the glove did not have a tag on it. The cashier called the manager over and she tried to find the item in the system and after several minutes she said she could not find it and instead of going to the rack or asking one of the many staff standing around to go to the rack and get one with a tag she just kept trying to find it. Finally I took the glove back to the rack and found the identical one with a tag. I brought them both up there so she could scan the tagged one. She apologized weakly. «I’m so sorry» she said
«You should be,» I said.
«I’m sorry,» she repeated.
And we left. I was upset enough that I contemplated returning all the items on principle but did not. I wish I got her name so I could formally complain to her supervisor. I will avoid this location in the future. You can get more service from Play It Again.

I love this Sports Authority location — they really go the extra mile to make me feel like a valued customer.
When you first walk in, it seems like any other sports chain (but wait!), when you dig into the details they really begin to set themselves apart. On my last visit I needed to pick up some new running gear. *Note — I’m not a runner, but I’m trying to be. Anyone else like the couch to 5K program? Holla!
All of the racks were clearly sized and organized — even the clearance! As someone who used to work in retail I definitely know what a pain in the butt this can be, but it really does make a huge difference in ease of shopping. Brands and locations of sports (clothing, yoga, weights, camping, etc.) were all clearly marked and easy to find. That didn’t stop the employees from checking in now and then to see if I needed assistance without being too overbearing.
There is always a coupon/​deal going on and their prices are pretty reasonable. Whenever there is a large sale I always try to check it out since it works on all merchandise (i.e. 25% off all Adidas includes clearance Adidas). As others have pointed out, they have a free rewards program as well which helps you rack up a few extra dollars.
I like to come here in the evening when there aren’t as many shopper because you can really take your time to browse if you don’t want to deal with crowds. Same goes for if you need a lot of one on one time with an associate (like getting fitted for a new pair of running shoes). Since there are less people, you get more quality time.
One of the only drawbacks I have is that the dressing rooms can get pretty messy since they don’t have an easily accessible put back rack anywhere that is visible.

I’ve rarely been a fan of these big sporting goods stores as you can never get any help when you need it and you can never find a thing. This being my first time at this store in years, I was not looking forward to it. But I needed gloves for my kick-​boxing class.
I had barely stepped in the door when Trevor walked up to me and asked if he could help me with anything. I asked where I would find boxing gloves and he walked me over to the right area. He showed me to the actual boxing gloves and then I explained that I needed mixed martial arts gloves. While he did not know the specific difference, once I described them, he helped me find the right section.
Even better, Trevor let me open packages and check them out, try them on, and when I was sure I had the right pair, he suggested I try a smaller pair to make sure I had the right size. He was right — I needed the smaller size. Once I was all set, it turns out that Trevor radioed to the front to make sure there was someone ready to check me out at the register so I didn’t have to wait in line — now that is service.
Opinion changed.

Priced too high here! No one on the floor to assist in what I needed. Rather go to Walmart if I can.

This Sports Authority is located in the same shopping center as the movie theater (with the new Wendy’s, the Michael’s, and of course Piece of Cake!!). It’s a bit further in the shopping center, and not readily visible from the road. It’s a fairly large sports authority, but often a bit messy. The fitting rooms are in the center of the clothing section and a bit hard to find. There’s not usually an attendant by the fitting rooms either, so it’s not clear where to put clothes that you don’t want after you’ve tried them on.
The sporting goods sections are marked a bit clearer, and it’s easier to find someone to help point you in the right direction. All in all, it’s a well stocked store, and there is almost always a coupon available (right now Unilocal has a 10 $ off 50 $ purchase coupon, score!). There is a free rewards program (key-​card) that gives you a 5 $ GC for every 100 $ you spend. If you’re like me and you lose your key card, they can always look up your account with your phone number or email address.

Decided to get into Yoga finally, and since last Sunday’s paper offered a 20% off coupon for purchases this week, I went in knowing I needed a Yoga mat, yoga socks and yoga clothing.
Went in, and John was the first person to greet me, and of thankfully he was in charge of the area where the yoga mat were. Being tall, I truly was hoping to find a yoga mat that would accommodate the length of my frame, but none of the ones the carried did. John mentioned to them that this wouldn’t be this important and most of the work out would be done on the mat, but that it was more important to find a mat the didn’t adsorb odor, and that would not slide while I was in my downward dog. We chose a color and it was off to the clothing area, where he turned me over to someone else.
After coming out of shock in the cost for yoga pants, the young lady that was helping me, said, there is a clearance rack in the rear of the store and directed me there. Maybe its just me, but by this point Im thinking damn $ 200/​month for the classes and I didn’t think $ 23 was much for the mat, but when I got to the yoga clothing and saw yoga pants run upwards of $ 50, i began thinking, maybe I just need to wear some of the leggings I already have at home. Even with the buy one get one 50% off promotion they were having, just didn’t seem to make much sense to pay $ 50 for something new to sweat in. The clearance rack didn’t appeal to me much, as it was really picked over and even the yoga pants I saw I liked were still over $ 30. Not my type of clearance rack at all.
Upon cash out, the manager, (I think), seemed more interested in counting down registers than in cashing me out, so I asked her, if I needed to go to another register, by this time a clerk that was straightening out some displays did come over to assist me.
I asked if they had some kind of coupon program or email program, and the clerk said she didn’t know, at this time, the manager that was counting down the drawers mentioned that about late spring of this year, they are going to come up with the key cards that track your purchases and you will earn points based upon your spending. Damn, something else to add to my key chain. Sooner or later, these key lobs cards are gonna need a holder of their own.
