Sugar Shack

So, I stopped here on a whim to satisfy a sweet tooth. I decided on the turtle cheesecake. I thought the price was pretty reasonable, it was 5 something I believe. Sadly, it was 5 something wasted! It tasted flavorless and nothing like cheesecake. It was more similar to mousse with nuts on top and a very dry cookie-​ish bottom. I’ve had better cheesecake from the grocery store. Extremely disappointing. I ended up throwing it away. :(
I have to say also that I agree with the other reviewers that the customer service is definitely lacking. I wish I had checked Unilocal before going in. Obviously it was my first time there. I’m sure that was evident by my perplexed look and I’m 95% sure I even mentioned it was my first time whilst browsing the selection. But the cashier just stood there and waited for me to choose. No suggestions, no welcome, no nothing.
Needless to say, I won’t be back Sugar Shack.

Seems like most people here on Unilocal liked the food but not the customer service. We had the exact opposite experience, the cashier was nice enough, but the food was super bland and boring. We had a few different cupcake flavors (all bland/​bad) — Krogers and Publix even have better cupcakes, not as if that says much.
The blonde brownie was pretty good, but it was more like a rectangle, block chocolate chip cookie than a brownie. When it’s a cheat day and I eat junk food I want it to be REALLY good. CamiCakes and Piece of Cake are way better.

So good! The Caprese panini is delicious! The monster bar is the only dessert I’ve tried but everything looks decadent. The only thing is that it’s really small and I don’t think they have a bathroom…

My friend got me some cupcakes for me from here and said it was the best and even rivals Georgetown Cupcakes — you know that peaked my interests right away. When I took a bite of the cupcake, it was so moist and so delicious!!! The cream cheese is super light and fluffy yet powerful. I have to say — she’s definitely right. It is one of the best cupcake places; we will be back!!!

We stopped on a whim after dinner when a friend said «I’d like a piece of key-​lime pie».
They delivered on the pie. AND the brownie, the blonde, the chocolate chip cookies and a piece of cheesecake. This is now my place for a periodic treat or if I get the munchies after one hitters.
NOTE to Manager — The customer service is lacking. Friendly, welcoming, «would you like to try this…» Amp up the CS with some interpersonal pizzaz. You have a good thing but you ain’t all that and there are other options.

Stopped in with the littles for a special treat and some coffee for mom and dad. Small shop with cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and coffee. They also serve salads and sandwiches that sounded delish. The coffee was very good as well as the black and white cookie. Kids loved the cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. We are regulars at the Roswell location and this one was just as good. We’ll be back!
Only minor issue was finding a parking spot on a Sunday afternoon.

Im really trying to understand how they’re still in business. Service is unfriendly and the cakes are all dry. Im starting to question many of the Unilocaler reviews when they say a place is good. I visited 12÷27÷15. And btw we tried about 6 different cupcakes.

The red velvet cake had good flavor but it was not as most as I’m used to. It was still good though. The key lime pie was not good. It tasted like it had been sitting too long and the edges were dried out. Not good at all. Won’t be going back.

I needed to visit a store near here so I scheduled my lunch work outing happening the same day at Sugar Shack. I love cupcakes and this was a great excuse to finally viist. Parking is no problem with the big lot in the back. It is a small little shop, but it was not super busy over a Friday lunch hour. There are tables inside and outside for dining. The shop has sandwiches, salads, soup on top of treats. There is a menu on the wall and you can pick up paper menu at the register.
Since there was so signage on the treat windows, the cashier walked me thru all the options I was interested in. According to him, the most popular is the red velvet. He also shared some other popular flavors and his personal flavors. I got the red velvet and the penguin (looks like a hostess cupcake). I took these to go home. I ate one the same evening, the other the next day on my flight home for Thanksgiving. The red velvet was OK. A bit on the dry side. The penguin was much more moist. I enjoyed it more, but still wasn’t awesome. During lunch, my friend order the peanut butter cookie and shared it. It was amazing. The cookie was soft and the peanut butter topping was yummy.
I ordered the bacon chicken salad. Even though we were eating in, it was served in a plastic container. I thought that was a waste. I wonder why they do that. The salad was quite good, but was on the small side. I wasn’t full after I ate it. My friends got sandwiches (1 had turkey, 1 had the smoked salmon) and they both enjoyed them.
I would definitely revisit. I want to try out a sandwich. :-)

This place is right up the road and the hubby loves stopping by there to pick up a snack. The stuff I’ve had there is okay, albeit a little crusty. We usually go in the evening though, so fair enough. The cupcake that looks like a hostess is really good.
The problem is the staff. They’re just downright hostile and rude. I don’t think I’ve ever managed a smile out of them. You’d think that working around sugar all day would make one smile, but not here. If you’re driving to Buckhead anyway, there are much more friendly places nearby (with better cupcakes, I might add).

Very cute, intimate place. There are a ton of options to choose from. I chose the Key Lime Pie and it was just the right amount of tart vs. sweet. The pie had a lovely crust and was incredibly creamy. Next time I’ll try the coffee.

The cupcakes and desserts looked delish and of course we left with a few. We also left with a bad taste in our mouth because of the lack of customer service we received. No greetings when we walked in, no information about the cupcakes, no asking if we had questions, and when we paid they just left our boxes on the counter and went about their business. I am a business owner and I was certainly appalled at the lack of customer service skills these two ladies at the Sugar Shack showed us. Hope these cupcakes are sweeter than they were.

Everything looked so good when I walked in. The Babe Ruth cheesecake was screaming my name, but I resisted and got some macadamia nut cookies, pecan sandies, and lintzer cookies. I was a little disappointed. The macadamia nut cookies were a bit burnt and not soft. The sandies were a little dry and not sweet at all. The lintzer cookies were a little hard and crunchy. I was hoping they would be soft. Next time, I’m listening to Babe Ruth.

If you like SUGAR this is the place to come.
Ordered the Quattro leches for a party– not the moistest cake, but the flavor was good and it fed about 40 people. The frosting was very sweet but flavorful
the cupcakes were amazing just for the unique flavors they came in– we ordered:
1. tiramisu– would order again, delicious filling, cake and frosting
2. chocolate covered banana– filling and topping delicious chocolate cake dry
3. caramel glaze– SWEET but so delicious, the caramel reminded me of the inside of a rolo
4. chocolate covered pretzel– looked good but the pretzel was soggy, cake dry
5– s’mores– good, but did not stand out
6– red velvet– good basic cupcake

Muffins! Glorious muffins!
I don’t often get a craving for such big, sweet, delicious breakfast goodies, but when I did today, a wonderful blueberry muffin from this spot was the ticket. Don’t know and don’t care about the fat, cal or sugar content.
Their sandwiches look awesome, and today’s special is a Cuban. May be back for lunch if I am not still full from breakfast. Note that they do mimosas all day, every day, for $ 5, and have a small wine and beer selection, if that’s your inclination.
On top of all thst, NPWH. Yum.

I love this place– but who does not like sugar? I have bought sandwiches for my open houses from here before and they were always a hit.
I have taken clients there when we needed a place in Brookhaven to sit and talk, and they always find something nice to drink or munch on.
The main thing that makes them great is the gluten free cupcakes. Usually they have one choice of a gluten free cupcake, and this past time I went they had a chocolate and a vanilla option. It is hard to find delicious options if you can’t eat wheat, so I highly recommend this place if you need a sweet alternative!

I was ecstatic to finally find a dessert place close to where I was eating. I went inside and saw a delicious red velvet cake on display. It looked like a red velvet cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. Anyway, I took my first bite, and the shit was crispy. Da fuq? I was disappointed to say the least.
I’m still on a quest to find a decent bakery here in Atlanta. Le sigh

Awesome desserts and coffee. Small little place in Brookhaven. Best toffee nut iced nonfat decaf latte I’ve ever had. Sign up for a metrotrainment card for rewards. Cute décor in the bathroom: P

Soooo I don’t like to write reviews based solely on one item but I had to make an exception.
The prosciutto, goat cheese, arugula, and fig sandwich.
GET IT.
No joke, it’s one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. It’s not a complicated sandwich and I’m reasonably sure I could make this at home. But… yeah, that’s probably not going to happen.
I will for sure update this review when I try some of their sweets. Until then, I stand by this review.

Mmm, cupcakes and pure sugary goodness.
I came here during my National Donut Day donut binge, not to get a donut, but to get lunch. Dunkin’ Donuts was next door, and I knew I needed more than donuts inside me to keep me sane. I ordered a chicken caprese sandwich (or was it pesto. or Italian?) which I can’t remember, but it was ok. I took it to go, so it was a little soggy after sitting in the wrapping and paper bag for so long as I took the long post-​a few donuts walk of shame back to the office.
I’ve also come here for a cupcake and coffee date, although it was maybe a year or two ago. I got the red velvet cupcake, which had a cute and clean presentation, and was nice and moist. The sweetness of the cupcake was delightfully offset by the coffee. Yum!
