This Taqueria Del Sol isn’t any different from the one on Howell Mill. If you been to one, you’ve been to it all. The way it works is you wait in a long line, like you’re going into the most exclusive nightclub in NY. Then you order. You don’t take a number or anything. They magically know what table you’re sitting to deliver your food. I found that amazing about Taqueria Del Sol. They mainly have tacos and enchiladas. The tacos come in a flour tortilla. I do wish they have a corn tortilla option. They always have the same 6 tacos on the menu: memphis, brisket, chicken, fish, carnitas, and some vegetarian one. If you’re a fully grown, hungry man; you can probably eat all 6. If you want to be comfortable, you should probably order 4. Their tacos are not bad. I like them. Each taco is unique with their flavors. I don’t know which one is my favorite. But you can’t go wrong with their tacos. They also have special tacos on their menu. Those are pretty good to get too. Overall, this place is a great place to get tacos. They are super popular so prepare to wait. Also, I love the oranges on the big tables.

It’s always busy, but that’s for good reason. The place makes tacos, enchiladas, soups, and appetizers that are divine. Go early to avoid the real rush, or go late — but not inbetween. People are friendly and efficient. They have a great operation going and I can’t wait for one to come to nearby Chamblee! My favorites: Fish Taco, Shrimp Corn Chowder, Memphis Taco

Love this place! Don’t let the line out the door discourage you if you are in a hurry. It moves fast and once you get your order in, its to your table in a flash. Get the Salsa Trio, its SO fresh and tasty. I don’t usually like tomatillo salsa, but theirs in bomber. The price is nice, service fast, and food is tasty. Maybe a little more variety in the taco department would be nice, but all in all, this is a great taco joint.

This is my favorite restaurant of all times!!! My bf and I use to come here 3 — 4 times a week. Seems like everyone is catching on now. The line here is getting longer and longer. I try to beat the rush most nights by coming around 630 or 830. Worst comes to worst, grab yourself a pitcher of house margarita and wait in line. You can also order togo near the bar and skip the line but keep in mind you can only order 2 items per person if you do that. My favorite is the fish tacos, all meat, none of that lettuce and veggies that other restaurants give you as fillers. That’s why I love this place, they are not stingy with their portions. Don’t be intimidated by the line. Once you order, I guarantee your food will come out within five minutes. Usually by the time I find a table, the server already have my salsa ready. Oh, be sure to get their salsa trio. I always get it two fresh and one roasted. Not a big fan of the green one.

My wife could eat mexican food every night of the week, but Taqueria del Sol is her favorite cheese dip in Atlanta. This is no small honor, as we have tried cheese dip pretty much everywhere. Consistency is the key with great restaurants, and there are several consistent things you’ll find when visiting any Taqueria del Sol: 1. Terrible Parking 2. A really long, purposefully slow line 3. Consistently delicious food from the cheese dip, guac, enchiladas in their amazing red chili sauce, and of course, super unique tacos 4. Servers that bring out your food in like 3 minutes and they somehow magically know where you’ve been seated and what you’ve ordered at the counter despite the fact that there is no name or number on your table 5. Fantastic house margaritas 6. Reasonable prices As long as you go to any Taqueria with the expectations that #‘s 1 and 2 are bound to happen, your experience will be great. I don’t recommend going with a group of friends. This really isn’t a place to hang out and relax. They want you to eat and get out to make room for the next patrons. They are also building a new location in Brookhaven/Chamblee in Whole Foods shopping center development, so you can count on #1 on my list continuing with the new store as well. I’m super pumped though because it will be very close to my house!

Casual, busy taco spot that serves alcohol… say it ain’t so! Well it’s true. It’s super busy so expect to wait on line for a while. Food is served quick. You step up to the register and order and they bring over your food once you are seated. There are not a lot of options. Here is what I ordered(split with wife): MEMPHIS — Chopped smoked pork with a spicy jalapeño coleslaw and tequila BBQ sauce. BRISKET — Shredded beef brisket with pico de gallo. CARNITA — A Mexican favorite. Twice cooked tender pork with salsa frita, cilantro & onions On their menu they also have soups, sides(rice, refried beans… etc) and enchilada’s(cheese, brisket… etc). All three were good… not life changing. We were lucky, we came early so the line was non existent. When we left the line was wrapped around the place. Is it worth the wait? Probably not. Staff was nice and maybe if there wasn’t a line next time I would have a drink and couple of tacos… otherwise if there is a line, I would avoid. Cheap prices, average food and nice service…

These tacos rock my world. Everything on the menu is incredibly delicious. Alcohol options– great!!! Wait time is annoying but that’s because this place is so tasty everyone wants to eat there. For the people that take to go orders… I’m not a fan of the brown bag. Because it just looks like everything is thrown and tossed into there. I think that the establishment needs to come up with a more cohesive and constructive method to do carry out orders.

Horrible experience! I just went to the Taqueria del Sol at the Cheshire bridge location with my wife and kids. The line was long and it was hard to wait with 2 little kids in the parking lot, so we decided to go inside. There were plenty of tables available but the manager came to us and kicked us out of the table because we couldn’t sit down until we ordered food. I clarified that my wife was in line ordering very shortly and I asked to make an exception because it wasn’t safe for the kids to be waiting at the parking lot. He became aggressive and elevated the tone to me in front of my kids and asked us to stand up. While I understand the policy of sitting people in order of arrival, the way that the manager treated us was incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. This is the first time that something like that happened to us and therefore the reason of my bad review.

Our lunch at Taqueria del Sol on Cheshire Bridge in Atlanta was excellent. All three of us had the fish tacos, which were great. Everything else we tried was good, too. This location was formerly the Sundown Café, which we always enjoyed. I take it that Taqueria del Sol, which has several locations in Atlanta, is doing well. You order at the counter, and your food is brought to you. The ambiance is fairly basic but sunny and clean. Service is super friendly. The tacos and other items on the menu are an excellent value. No wonder it’s so popular!

Still awesome. This place is just great. It has been consistently great for years and years. Everything on the menu has been honed and perfected over the years. This place never disappoints. In fact, the only change I can remember in the last few years is a slight change to the pork green chili. From a weekly special entrée and taco to regular tacos, chili, and enchiladas, everything is great. It’s definitely worth sampling the rotating cast of weekly specials. Cons: Parking is very tight. I’d consider walking, carpooling, or Über/Lyft to get over.

For a taqueria that is no where near the border, this place is solid! Coming from California where you can practically roll out of bed and fall into a taqueria, I’ll admit I was skeptical. My work buddy said this place is known for their queso. Que what? That is something that is not common at any of the taqueria places I have been to. So I was curious. I ordered a fish taco along with the veggie. The folks I was with ordered the guacamole and queso for the table. The fish taco was delicious! It had a slight spice to it due to the jalapeños and had a lightly battered texture. The veggie taco was alright — I would pass on it next time. There was more salsa than beans. I couldn’t figure out how their tomatillo salsa was red, since tomatillos are green. I make it at home regularly so that was odd. The guacamole on the other hand was very good. Creamy with bits of avocado throughout. That paired with two trays of thin chips and queso(cheese dip) was awesome! If this place were walking distance to my office, it would be my go-to lunch spot. After all, tacos would be my 2nd last meal on earth. Lamb being the first. It gets crowded here quickly, so keep your timing in mind. I’d recommend arriving around 11:30 or after 1:00pm. Oh! I nearly forgot, their sweetened sweet tea is very good. There is a non-sweetened version as well. So be sure to try it out. There are tables throughout, but remember, it’s a taqueria so keep it casual.

We came at 8:30pm on a THURSDAY and the line was out the door yo! But totally worth it, the service is quick and the tacos are MUYDELICIOSO! I love the fish tacos with the mayo they use. But I forget that there’s jalapenos in it so BECAREFUL. That fish taco gotta kick to it. Also the carnitas taco and brisket… ACTUALLYALLTHEIRTACOSAREGOOD. I haven’t tried their veggie bean or whatever taco that is because I love meat in my taco. Just writing this review makes me crave their tacos again… DOYALLDELIVER?!

I am obsessed with taqueria del sol. This place is really affordable. Most days my boyfriend and I can get a full meal for under $ 20. Tips: — Always check the specials. Some of my favorite items are there rotating weekly specials. If they have their steak tacos ALWAYS get those. — Come early. This place has such a tendency to get busy and you don’t really want to stand outside in a line that wraps around the building if you’re pressed. — Say yes to cheese dip. I love their cheese dip. I would bathe in this stuff. It’s kinda pricey(its more expensive than the tacos) but they give you a boat full of queso. — Favorite regular menu items: Brisket Taco, Carnitas Taco, Fish Taco.

My friends and I came to this location because it was closer to the Lenox mall. You order at the counter before getting seated. I ended up ordering the fish taco, fried chicken taco, and a shrimp corn chowder. The chicken taco was good, but the fish taco tasted really fishy and didn’t feel that fresh. I also really enjoyed the shrimp corn chowder. It was really flavorful and on the sweeter side(very thick). We had guacamole to start and the chowder actually made a pretty good dip with the chips! Tacos here are pretty cheap and I was pretty full after two tacos(~6 or 7 dollars). Luckily the line to order wasn’t that long when we arrived around 6pm. It was getting very crowded by the time we were done eating.

You can find this location of Taqueria Del Sol at 2165 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE, Atlanta, GA30324 along the infamous Cheshire Bridge Rd(hidden between industrial and commercial expanses and the occasional«interesting» business establishment — heh). This is the original location of the flagship restaurant Sundown Café and what amounts to at Atlanta institution(if anything can be called that). The original Sundown Café provided Tex-Mex with a twist — your basic Mex-Southern fusion long before anyone had come up with that term. The interesting thing about this location is that there’s still a «blue plate» offered up that harkens back to the Sundown menu — the soupy turnip greens are a prime example. I’ve eaten at the location near King Plow, which is usually much busier than this one, but also doesn’t seem to have the same level of charm(or parking). I had come for dinner to Sundown Café for many years prior to the changeover to a Taqueria — the same people seem to be working here as then(it used to be a sit-down and order restaurant rather than fast casual). I recently dropped in and had lunch with my SEO/SEM team from a previous job and once again enjoyed the spicy salsa and soft-shell tacos. This location of Taqueria Del Sol is a bit larger than the others with a rather expansive kitchen. There’s also plenty of seating with overflow to an outdoor deck. It still wears the Sundown Café sign like a badge of honor so look for it when you’re driving down Cheshire Bridge — it’s much easier to see and read than the white-background«Taqueria Del Sol» sign near the street. Parking is out front or along the side — there tends to be plenty. As you enter, you’ll see a counter where you order — the menu is fairly simple, featuring sections for Weekly Specials at the top, followed by Starters, Tacos, Encheladas, Sides and Soups/Chiles. The flip-side has Margaritas(which aren’t bad, by the way), Wine, Beer(including a section of local craft), Liquor and Tequila. The Tequila menu is quite extensive and has a good selection of my favorite, Herradura. We started with the Salsa Trio featuring two salsas(one mile and the other smokier and a bit spicier — chipolte if I’m not mistaken) and a tomatilla verde. I preferred the smokier and the tomatilla over the regular, which was still quite palatable. All three tasted fresh with plenty of lime and minced cilantro. We all has assortments of fish, pork and chicken tacos — I also had a side of the turnip greens which you’ll see as a soupy tomato cup in the cheap taco baskets. In all the food was fantastic and the well-remembered flavors still worth having. It’s also a great location as an in-between spot if you work at the perimeter and are meeting friends or associates that are intown. (also posted to my food blog)

I’m not sure I’ll ever be certain on whether or not it was a good idea I didn’t figure out to come to this place until I was close to moving away from being within walking distance. If I had figured it out earlier, RIP bank account. But then I was like NEEDTOGOHEREALLTHETIMEBEFOREIT’S NOTSOCLOSE! I’ve had basically every taco because of my late discovery and sudden self control to not go THAT frequently. Right now it’s hatch chile time so you’re entirely in the wrong to not be up in that. The chile taco is not that great though, I thought it was far too breaded to be able to even really taste the chile. However there are chile rellenos and yeah get on that. My favorite is definitely the brisket taco, followed by the carnitas, which is saying a lot since I hate raw onion and cilantro is soapy to me. The fried chicken taco is up there too, as is the bbq pork taco. And most importantly? Each of these things is like $ 2.59 max. You have three and you’re not that far over how much Chipotle costs. And even better if you’re with someone else, you just have two and split chips and guacamole. I love their guac. The queso isn’t bad either. I wasn’t entirely into their margaritas but then again I’m used to the debauchery of Elmyr margaritas. When people tell you to come here, do it. Don’t wait 9 months because said person turned out to be an asshole. DOIT. BECAUSETACOS.

I stopped at TDS for a break in my typical hour and fifteen minute commute home. I had good feelings based on the reviews but my experience was not good. The place had a mall food court feel with its bright lights and Formica/plastic-looking tables. I sat at the bar which is not better than a table but at least you don’t have to stand in that horrible order line(more food court action.) The food is mall food court too. I had the fish taco which was okay but a little dry. I also has the Memphis BBQ taco that I might have really liked if not for the flour tortilla. For me, flour tortillas feel like eating white Wonderbread and the cool tortilla with the warm beef was chewy in an unpleasant way. I also ordered the cheese dip which was bland. I asked for a side of pickled jalapeños but the dip was bland with jalapeños. :-(I ordered the house margarita which was so bad that I didn’t want to try another one. It had a weird day-glo color to it and tasted non-alcoholic. From a service perspective, I did not like the bartender at all. After I ordered I never heard from him again. His manner was«eat your food and get out.» It was awful. This review isn’t 1 star because someone else was there who made me feel more welcome. He was helping out where needed and wasn’t put out when I asked him for a straw. Overall, I am not sure why this place is so popular. Maybe it’s because there is not much else in the area. All I know is that it isn’t a place I’d go back to, let alone frequent. Unilocal 100 #48

Cheap eats and awesome tacos. BUT you have to wait. There are always lines ended outside when it is open. Prepare a good 20 minutes to order, standing under the sun included. Anyway, I ordered carnita and Memphis taco, with guacamole. The two tacos blended every ingredients well. I don’t know how they can cook pork so tender and juicy. Alert: Carnita was blazing spicy. Guacamole was a little bland. My friends tried fish taco and fried chicken taco. They loved fish taco, but fried chicken taco was okay.

Everytime I drive by this location of Taqueria Del Sol, there is a line out the door. I think this place is good for the price when you don’t mind waiting to place your order. Once you order, the food comes out fast. You can order a margarita at the end of the bar to drink while you wait. Their cheese dip comes out as soon as you sit down and is delicious. The menu is small – I’ve always ordered enchiladas, either the special or the chicken with a verde sauce on top. I’ve heard that the fried chicken taco and the brisket taco are both very good.

I love Taqueria del Sol. My favorite location is the one over on the west-side. I just happened to be driving by this one and decided to grab lunch. It was just as predictably good as my experiences at the other locations. The fish taco was exactly as I remembered it, and it totally hit the spot. The warm smell of carnitas rising up through the air. The shrimp & corn chowder remains one of my favorite things ever. My friends sometimes try the burrito specials, and we all love the guac. Plus – margaritas. Need I say more? These folks know how to make me happy. And happiness is good tacos and excellent shrimp & corn chowder.
