Tennis With Greg

I purchased living sochL deals 70 – 80 bucks for 3 lessons but can’t never grab a hold of Greg. He asked for my coupon number (which he immediately redeemed it before any lesson) and never gave me ANY lesson. His voice mail is always full and he never replied emails.
I lost 70 – 80 bucks for nothing.

I bought a voucher and couldn’t schedule a lesson with Greg. Its obvious that Greg can’t keep up with the overflow of customers/​business. I complained to Half Off Depot plan out his lack of response and they gave me credit as a form of refund.

I echo the reviews of all the previous Unilocalers. I purchased a Half off Depot and it was an absolute nightmare trying to schedule a lesson. I did get one in after about 2 months of trying and it was beneficial. However, he is very disorganized, and he cancelled my appointments several times. The last appointment I had set up 6 weeks prior, and he gives me 4 hours notice to say that he can’t do the lesson. He then says I would have to wait 6 weeks to schedule another lesson! If you pay full price, I’m sure he’ll treat you better because that’s what he kept trying to get me to do. However, I would never recommend him to anyone because he is so unreliable, and he’s wasted so much of my time and money.

Agree with everyone on scheduling and communication. I bought a 3-​pack on living social. Started offering multiple dates to Tennis w Greg right away. Finally got 1 agreed on after 3 weeks. When I hadn’t heard from him to confirm it and where the location was, and it was the night prior to the lesson, I gave up and canceled the whole deal. He then gave me a bunch of attitude via email. Very unprofessional. After all, tennis is for Fun! Should not take this much effort to book a lesson.

I bought a voucher from Half Off for three lessons with Greg. I emailed, called and texted him for lessons and his availability. He didn’t respond with any dates but wanted my voucher number to mark it as «redeemed»; which I provided. After a call to his phone and leaving a voicemail, Greg texted me back a website to provide the same information again to him (voucher number, why I want to get lessons, phone/​email and my name).
I can’t give a review on him as a coach since I never had that opportunity to get any lessons from him. I did contact Half Off and advise them of my poor experience with him. They credited me back the money I spent for the voucher.

My experience was also similar to the above. Coach Greg is a great coach but scheduling with him was a pain. He would always ask me to text him for our next appt but didn’t hear from him for weeks. I did a payment for 1 lesson at a time for about a month. I decided do the prepaid 6 lessons package after our 1^st month. After that, he became very busy and it was extremely hard to meet up with him. And my schedule was very flexible. I am looking for a coach that I can see weekly. There were many time he was 15min-​20min late and he said he would make it up next lesson. However, when the next lessons came, he couldn’t go over because he had an appointment with another student. I think he was sloppy as far as scheduling goes. We still have 2 more lessons (worth about 110 $) but hearing from him took forever. The last time I heard from him was «let’s reschedule due to the rain». I said ok and let me know the time and date. I never heard from him again. I decided to let it go and see if he ever get back with me on that. Nothing from him and this was from July of 2011. But it’s ok, I learn my lesson.

I completely agree with the reviewer below me and had a oddly similar story. I bought a Living Social with Greg and was never able to use one lesson. And the story begins.
Communication was extremely slow. Considering the majority of us get email on our phones or check email regularly, his lack of communication was extremely frustrating.
We finally had a lesson scheduled, and that got rained out. Trying to reschedule was a nightmare of extremely slow back and forth communication where Greg was always booked at all of the times I suggested. After a few months of trying to book 1 lesson, I gave up. Unfortunately for me, Living Social does not reimburse so somebody has my money and I have no tennis lessons.

This is a tough review because I liked Greg, but the reality is that I’m deciding between 1 star and 2. Quite simply, he’s extremely difficult to schedule with. I get the impression he’s fully booked up with clients and doesn’t have time for new clients, yet he’s still doing deals on Half Off Depot, and I’ve seen him on other sites as well.
Details (note, all of my email responses to him were within 24 hours of receiving his email):
Several months ago I’d purchased 3 lessons with Greg from Half Off Depot. We got the initial lesson scheduled fairly easily — his response times were fine, and we got it scheduled for 2 weeks after I first contacted him. Unfortunately, it rained that day, and that’s when things got difficult. He emailed me to cancel and asked what my schedule was like to reschedule. I responded with my very flexible schedule, and didn’t hear from him for 11 days, at which point he suggested a time that didn’t work for me. I told him that, and he responded 3 days later suggesting a date 11 days out. That worked, and we got it scheduled.
We had the lesson (will get back to that in a second) and afterwards he said to email him to schedule our next lesson. I did, and heard back from him 5 days later, suggesting a time 2 weeks later. I was going to be out of town when he suggested, and emailed him back letting him know, and letting him know when I was available (other than being out of town, I was very flexible). 8 days later I still hadn’t heard from him, so I followed up. 8 more days, and I decided it was no longer worth the effort (only being able to schedule 1 lesson in 2 months is ridiculous, especially given my schedule), so I contacted Half off Depot, and they gave me a credit for ²⁄₃ of the initial cost, which I was happy with.
As a coach, Greg is pretty good. I’m a very experienced player (high A ALTA, and I’ve coached some friends who are beginners) and have worked with a lot of coaches. He’s probably average to above average as a coach. He made several observations of things I was doing that I wasn’t aware of, and that was very useful, and we did some very good drills. He did suggest something on my backhand that I strongly disagreed with (and am quite sure most coaches would have disagreed with), but I think it might have been more that he was describing it poorly as it was that he was wrong. In short, he was advocating a ‘take racket back’ — ‘drop it straight down’ — ‘swing forward’ motion, as opposed to a smooth, more circular type motion. I think maybe it was a misunderstanding because he said if you watch any pros, it’s what they do, which I thought was wrong so I went back and looked at a bunch of tape, and couldn’t find a single pro doing what he seemed to be saying.
In general, he seemed like a really nice guy with a good personality. Unfortunately, because of the difficulty scheduling, I can’t recommend him. I’m looking for a coach to work with on a weekly basis, and Greg doesn’t have the availability to be that guy.
