Before even thinking about lunch, bf, baby sister, and I made a beeline for this née Irwin Street Market establishment. From the articles that I have read about this place, it takes over Picnic’s old space, as Picnic joins forces with Doctah Mojo and Hilda’s in the Funky Monkey space. Okay, honestly, it was more like I ran over to JDR Delishery. Trying to check in that afternoon with torrential rains(thanks, Daniel B. for making it in spite of inclement weather!!), I found out that there was no Unilocal listing for the place. And yes, I am only now creating it. Bf got a coconut macaroon(these are generously sized and come with a half maraschino cheery in the center. He ate this before headed over to Hilda’s/Picnic/Doctah Mojo and also kindly shared a piece with everyone in our party(turned out to be a Party of Five). It was very tasty. My little sister opted for the mile-high personal apple pie, while I settled on a homemade Kit Kat bar. Yes, you read that properly. Sis and I didn’t end up eating our goodies after lunch(they were both very yummy and fresh-tasting). Bf actually picked up another macaroon to try, only this time, he picked the variety with choocote bottoms. While he enjoyed both, his personal sweetness and decadence preferences dictated that he like the one sans chocolate more. Friendly service. You end up paying on the side that has Jake’s Ice Cream. I would like to go back to try bagels, as I read they won awards before even officially opening. I am curious about the other baked goodies on hand and hope to try some, along with a nice cup of coffee.
