Great hidden gem. Good BBQ, Friendly staff. Plan on getting it to go or sitting on a stool, no tables. Everything was good including the vegetables.

The meat is always so tender and I love the mustard sauce, although I get it on the side. Not a fan of the sides, so I only order the meat when I go-​both chicken and ribs.

Awesome BBQ spot! It literally shares the building with a tire or auto body shop which might turn some off but I loved the ribs. I felt it was a bit on the pricey side — 21 bucks for a half rack and bottle of water. But still really good.

Awesome smoked turkey, sandwich and plate. Had this at the airport just taking a chance. My husband and I had great service and great portions of delicious turkey. This was Aug. 22 2015. We met Alex the manager after our meal. We let him know how good it was and we will recommend this to family and friends flying through Atlanta. If time allows or you are at concourse D. Yes It was not inexpensive but worth the money.

I had the ribs and loved them. Very tender with delicious mustard sauce. Mac and Cheese was smoked and tasted great. The building is nothing to write home about — but in the BBQ world that is the sign of great food.

Hello stated Thursday to be continued and I must say that we continue with the continuation has been most pleasant visit the mustard seed in the West End and had a upsetting experience contact the owner and was told immediately bring the product back and we will make it right! I didn’t make it back the following day, but stopped back Friday. They made it RIGHT! With no hesitation, no snares, like how dare you, but with grace and class, and GREAT BBQ, I must say thanks I was wrong, thanks Brent, I know if you continue to stand by you product and customer first, you guys will be greater than you are! Kudos!!!

D-​E-​L-​I-​C-​I-​O-​U-​S! Not your ordinary tasting BBQ. I agree with Harrison, order the whole slab for $ 25 for the best deal. I used to order the rib tips for $ 11 until I read Harrison D’s review; and he is not exaggerating. I was eating off that slab of rib from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. I have always received fast service upon every visit. The longest I’ve waited for my order was 10 minutes and the fastest I’ve received my order was in 3 minutes. Also, I have never experienced any type of rudeness from the female cashier. If you really, really, really like BBQ, you have to try The Mustard Seed!

Went in at 12:15 on a Saturday for lunch knowing they are open at 11. They weren’t ready to serve. No pulled pork, no ribs, no potato salad. Someone walked in with bread about 5 minutes after we got in line. Very disappointed as they are right down the street from me.

We came to ATL specifically for barbecue, and the competition is stiff — but after careful consideration, I vote Mustard Seed (the original) the BEST. Most of the sides and the pulled pork weren’t available, but I’m a believer that ribs are the true test of barbecue anyway. The ribs are not as big and meaty as some we tried, but they are the best prepared in terms of smokiness and tenderness, and you can lick them clean — every morsel is delicious. The rub is by far the best I had, and the sauce is perfection for a mustard sauce: the perfect balance of sweet and tangy and not too overwhelming. We asked for the sauce on the side, which I recommend because first of all, these ribs are delicious without sauce, and second of all, it allows you to get the right proportion for your taste. I’m going to be dreaming about these ribs for years to come!
Also, some reviewers have complained that the service wasn’t friendly, but we found her to be professional and courteous. Then again, we’re from the Bronx so maybe our standards are different!
All and all, an unforgettable barbecue experience! Definitely worth the trip.

Well the food deserves a five but because of the location I had to give a four. It really is in the ghetto. I swear if I had pearls I would have to clutch them. Anyway on to the food. The ribs were VERY good and I will return as long as someone is with me lol. The lady behind the counter isn’t very friendly but the food is worth returning for.

I’ve been here twice this week. I care nothing about it being in the hood. Everyone knows that’s where the best eateries are! However, the old lady who’s the cashier needs to go home and rest. I thrive on great customer service and she lacks it. I love old people so I guess I’ll give her a pass. I get the rib tip tray for 10.50 and the bbq sauce.

4stars because of the parking & not being a sit down place. HOWEVER, 5stars on the food. Omg the food was so good! I had to go back to give my compliments to the grill man. I had the chicken dinner w/​collards & mac&cheese. Great portions, fresh and hot. I’m a GA girl and it’s hard to find good southern food outside of home. But this is it! Marking it as a fave. Yes it’s in the hood. Yes a bit pricier than what you might find & expect in the hood. But it is so worth it. One last note, I’m not a fan of bbq sauce, but there’s won me over… tangy with a lil kick. Yassssss.

This by far is the best bar-​b-​que place in town. The food is delicious and their famous mustard sauce is amazing. I’ll recommend everyone to try them out! Great food and great people!

The ribs and chicken are well seasoned. The sauce is special. The collards are good. I highly recommend this place.

I drove to Mustard Seed after receiving several recommendations from friends and family members. The menu was not extensive, but I decided to order a slab of ribs. I was amazed by the amount of ribs I received with my order. I initially thought they mistakenly combined my order with another. The chef explained that the rib order included all the rib-​tips from the slab. I received a large container of ribs and another large container of rib tips, plus bread and BBQ sauce. You cannot beat the price! In addition, the ribs were delicious. They were juicy, tender, and well seasoned. I had enough to last for 3 days! The Mustard Seed has great tasting BBQ for a great price. It’s take-​out only and they ran out of several food items before 6PM. Go early! Like my friends and family members, I highly recommend The Mustard Seed.

Man listen… this place right here will make you slap your whole family. I love the sauce… meat smoked to perfection and juicy even the next day. Im from FL and It may be in the hood… but we all know the best food joints are the local hole in the wall. Check them out!

It was okay, but nothing special.

Forget about my past reviews proclaiming «so-​and-​so» having the best BBQ in town… I was WRONG! Mustard Seed has the best BBQ in Atlanta! The BBQ here is lip smackin’ slap yo’ mammy GOOD!
Skip the ribs and get the rib tips and/​or pulled pork. Perfectly seasoned, very tender, and that sauce is DELICIOUS! It is mustard based and a liquid gold color. It is AMAZING! You have to try it to truly understand how good it is. It is not a pungent, mustardy tasting sauce. It is sweet and savory.
Okay, yes this place is located in the hood, but who cares? It is a takeout joint and you will be in and out within 10 minutes anyway. Don’t let the location discourage you, or you will be the one missing out on this mouthwatering BBQ and distinctive sauce.
Make sure you take advantage of the Scoutmob app deal on your smart phone for a free pulled pork sandwich. That sandwich is piled high with yummy, juicy pork. They definitely did not skimp on portion size considering they are giving it away for free with the scoutmob app.

I don’t generally rate restaurants with only one star, but I cannot justify awarding any more to this shack.
I like my BBQ, and I especially like my ribs. But, they gotta be tender, moist, and flavorful. The half slab I had last night was none of the above. The sauce on the side helped, but it was a mild mustardy vinegar based sauce that did not really go with the ribs.
As fellow Unilocaler Paul notes below, «The ribs aren’t good enough to go out of your way for but definitely worth trying if you’re in the area.». I think he’s too generous. I wouldn’t come here again, even if I was in the area.
If I’m going to indulge and eat ribs, they better be good. And at $ 17/​half slab — not exactly cheap.
Oh, BTW, they had no air conditioning, they were out of ice, had no diet soda, and no water (as the staff drank it all due to no a/​c). Customer service???
