We had just left Ebenezer Church and decided to walk down Auburn a little more to see what there was to see. This is how we found the Soul Food Museum. After walking into what looked like a small grocery store specializing in soul food products, we were greeted by the museum’s founder and curator Kenneth Willhoite who invited us to join the tour he was about to commence. Mr. Willhoite’s collection of historic and current soul food-related products is extensive. But it is his enthusiasm for sharing the stories of the products and their African American roots and his unique and uplifting spirit that made our visit to the Soul Food Museum something I’m glad we didn’t miss.
