This place has some of the best soul food! Initially I stopped here on the way to work because I saw that they had soul food and I thought that it would be a good place to get it! Upon entering the building and are hit in the nose with DELICIOUSSMELLS. Walter’s is a very simple cafeteria-style structure you where you pick out of several rotating meats and sides. I can say that you can hardly go wrong! My food was delicious and the environment was calm and clean.

Omg I used to love this place! I’ve been eating here for at least 5 years! The employees were so nice and friendly. But now this place sucks!!! First thing the young man who took my order was anything but helpful! When I came in I asked him could I great some fresh dressing, only because what was out, was some burned dry old mess, so he gets the fresh dressing, but once again the top is burned badly, instead of taking it off, he still sever me burned dressing, then when I asked him to please, take that in give me unburned dressing, he gave major attitude, next the place was dirty the table weren’t clean or booths! Now here’s the kicker some man comes n try’s to sell us stolen jewelry! lol in would not leave so now I got this weirdo standing over my food. Wait I’m still not done, after we get rid of him, now here comes this young thug wanna be, he sits at our table after we asked not to, he said this his hood he do what he wanna!!! we get our food n leave! Get to the parking lot in now some man is out there beating on this lady! Never ever again! Do not go here unarmed

Liked(not loved) it for an occasional cuisine change but stopped patronizing when the fried chicken was bloody and uncooked. May try it again when I forget!

I’ve visited Walter’s on a few occasions and it’s always been very consistent. I love the rib tips and the macaroni and cheese. The yams and cornbread are pretty good too! I always order to go and the service is quick and efficient. Whenever in the area, I would come again.

The Soul Food was great!!! Had the Ox Tails and the Salmon with Spinach and my mouth was watering! They give you large portions of food for a great price! Will definitely be going back and I will be telling all my family and friends!

When I tell you that you CANNOT go wrong at Walter’s, PLEASE believe me! This little gem is incredibly consistent with amazing soul food and, no matter what you choose, you will be delighted! I need a moment to discuss their collard greens. My daddy used to make greens when we were growing up. Being from North Carolina, he schooled me on the term«pot liquor», and I quickly understood that if the pot of greens was cooked to perfection, you could literally sip the pot liquor and be taken to heaven and back! Walter’s collard greens are so good, I’d sip the pot liquor in a heartbeat! Anyone who understands what I mean will know immediately that we are talking about collard green glory!!! I, now, need a moment to discuss their peach cobbler… in a few words: ecstasy… incredible… nummygoodness !!! «more crust than peaches, please» is my order exactly. And then, I prepare myself for a Calgon-Take-Me-Away moment. It’s THAT good! Everything else, and I mean, everything, is incredible too! BBQ Chicken, dressing, corn bread, etc. I have always hoped that Guy Fieri and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives would come and feature this Treasure of Atlanta! :-) I’ll be a forever-customer regardless!

Everyone was telling me how good their food is ! Quiet honest it’s okay I’ve had better & made better lol. The employees always seem to have an attitude, not all black people are angry ! I’m a sweet kind hearted humble person ! When I grace the room I speak to everyone. Here you walk in & they act like they don’t want to serve you. The only thing I like here is the Yams & Mac & cheese! Don’t get me wrong this hole in the wall always is packed

I love soul food and went out of my way to make the drive to Walter’s yesterday based on a good recommendation. Although I wanted to like this place, with the huge portions and all, I will not be going back. One, the food I had did not taste good. Two, this was the only meal I had all day, and I ended up with a very painful case of food poisoning that manifested itself about 7 hours after the meal. I can’t take any more chances with that. But, on the bright side, a lot of people must love it because there was constantly a long line while I was there.

Any soul food place that piles on tasty portions, I’m a fan of. The oxtails are always tender and are a favorite among the regulars, I noticed that during my first visit, everyone was asking for them. The line is normally out the door when we go, which is a good sign. While standing in line, we hear people say how far they come to get a helping of the delicious food. They don’t have any pork in their veggies, which can be a plus. The staff are friendly and patient with all the questions that they may be bombarded with. The price is decent for the amount of food you receive and they don’t close a minute before they are supposed to, the owner don’t play that!

Real home cooking /soul food at a reasonable price. I had the brisket for lunch which was savory and plenty of it. The cabbage was good and the mac and cheese was fantastic, rivaled my own and I do a damn good job at mac and cheese. I will definitely be back there next time I’m in the area.

Soul food is my FAVORITE food. I am always on a mission to find the best soul food restaurant in my city and so far Walter’s is it. The food is great! I don’t eat pork so finding a soul food restaurant that has some type of beef other than stew, is amazing! The meat was delicious, the sides were great, dessert was good. I can’t wait to return. You definitely have to try Walter’s out!

Really solid soul food. The interior is a bit run down and could use a facelift. The line was really long out the door on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait around 20 minutes to order. Aside from the wait, the food was satisfying, tasty, and fed my soul.

A Good place for soul food in Atlanta… very much worth the drive… I can’t say what I had there was bad. Its very flavorful and the food is rich. so if your on a diet this is not the place. Just kidding even if your on a diet you can get a veggie plate, or just watch your portion size. Its best to get your food in a to go box because you will not eat it all in one sitting, you can take it home heat it up for later. I had their turkey wings w/rice, squash & zuchinni mix, mac & cheese, but have held off on the mac & cheese lately because its really rich. Now I feel when it comes to the bread, they need to really make better corn bread or just make jiffy that would be better than that cornbread they are serving now.

How small of an impression must a restaurant leave on you so that you don’t remember eating there until walking inside? Well crap, Walter’s holds that distinction! On the hunt for decent soul food, I stopped in on a Thursday evening and ordered a rib tip meal, which comes with two sides. Took about 5 minutes for them to let me know that they didn’t have any more, so I went ahead with the veggie plate. The veggie plate is a four veggie plate that checks in at just at $ 6. I thought their selection was a little smaller than i’m used to, with only corn, collard greens, mac & cheese, white rice, yams and green beans. I ordered two orders of collard greens, an order of yams and an order of Mac & Cheese. Collards had a weird spiciness to them that was overpowering and the mac & cheese tasted very oily, just not very good. The yams were incredibly sweet, but also lacking any real flavor(where’s the nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, guys??). Portion sizes were nice, and if you’re someone who likes the flavor of their food, the price is very fair(the rib tip meal was $ 8.75 for example… very cool). I guess I should’ve known that based on this place being a ghost town(not a single soul sitting to eat and only an older couple in front of me ordering to go) and the fact that I didn’t realize i’d been here before is proof enough that yea, i’m still on the look out for decent soul food.

Some of the worst tasting soul food I ever had, and the prices are high.

The food was excellent and the staff was friendly. I had the veggie plate with Mac and cheese, zucchini, corn bread. It was nice. Hope to be back. A guy was smoking crack in the bathroom and they had to chase him out, other than that, it was quiet!
