First thing to mention is during a weekday parking is stellar for this place. Castleberry Hill is a trendy new neighborhood and there was plenty of street parking without meters. This place is pretty much a Sushi place throughout and we got the sushi/sashimi platter which was good for the $ 23 we paid. After seeing it reviewed many times we got the Pink Lady box sushi roll. for 12 bucks i didnt think it was the best, had lobster but only real small pieces. The designer rolls always put me off I feel like im getting more for my money with nigiri and standard rolls. Service was good and the food was reasonably priced. I’d be back, but I would try alot more of the maki style rolls next time.

Okay, so I gave Wasabi another chance and I was pleased with my return visits. I tried a few more rolls on the menu, like the Philadelphia, Aloha, Alaskan and the Pink Lady. Hands down I looove the Pink Lady roll. I even stepped out on a limb and sampled a few sips of sake(which were complimentary *thumbs up*) before deciding on the plum sake. However, there still is that weird smell that greets you when you walk in(the best I can describe it as is smelling like super strength no-lye hair relaxer).

I’d recommend the Bubble Gum roll. I used the scoutmob deal which helped. But on Wednesdays, they have ½ price bottle of wines too. I made the mistake of coming there REALLY hungry. Three of us ordered 4 appetizers, 1 bottle of wine, and 3 rolls. I had the cucumber salad which tasted good but did nothing to curb my appetite. All that being said, I would definitely go back to this place for the ambiance and quality of food. The service was great as well. The place is rather small, and so it appears to not be able to accommodate large groups at all.

Went here last Friday because of the Scoutmob deal and when I saw the female sushi chef behind the counter I was a little weary because some of the bad reviews mentioned her. I sat at the sushi bar and service was prompt and friendly. I had to wait 20 minutes for my dinner mate to show up and the waitress brought out edemame on the house! We decided to share the large sushi and sashimi platter and later we ordered the candy box roll. I didn’t notice any shady practices while watching the chefs work with the fish and both were very attentive and friendly. Since it was chef’s selection and we are both adventurous sushi eaters, we asked her to give us the freshest they had and not just the typical choices. When she was done preparing our order she took the time to explain what each one was and told us a little bit about where they source their fish. The sushi was fan-freakin’-tastic! Very melt in your mouth, not too cold but not warm, well seasoned rice and the perfect sized portion. I just couldn’t get enough and we ordered the candy box roll later because it was so highly recommended from fellow Unilocalers. I would recommend sticking to the nigiri and sashimi and sitting at the sushi bar for the best experience. Definitely coming back here on July 9th before the Emerging Art Scene’s Grand Opening.

Having eaten sushi all over the world i can truely say, the quality of the food here is similar to an ‘all you can eat’ buffet. I feel sad for all the reviewers that praise this place. I sincerely hope you all get some better quality sushi than this and realize what you’re missing. After being ignored by the«happy to hang out with his friends rather than do his job or greet us bartender» we had excellent service from our server. The one star goes to her. The house salad was ok, the dressing was ok but the amount of sesame seeds was overpowering and made it feel gritty. My wife ordered the Chirashi-don. When this arrived it became obvious that the«chefs» here were not well trained. This had to have been the most amateurish attempt at cutting fish i’ve seen in quite sometime. the hamachi looked liked jerky chunks, the salmon was paper thin and not so fresh as it was starting to flake apart. Saba was ok but that comes preprepared. The rice underneath was meh, The dish also arrived with no seaweed, wasabi or ginger. I ordered tuna and spicy scallop nigiri. The tuna once again was thin and the rice was tasteless and stiff, the spicy scallop was pretty good. I also ordered the Philly roll, which had a tiny amount of smoked salmon and avocado and too much cream cheese all wrapped too much of the same bland rice. The plastic tables and chairs look as bland and cheap as the food they serve tastes. I highly doubt we will ever be back.

Soft-shell crab was a bit stale… barely warm. The rolls were smallish, and really didn’t have a whole lot of flavor. The rice-outside rolls were not packed that well, and kept falling apart. The nigiri looked like it had gone through hell. Chic décor, and loved the staff, though. Be sure to grab a chipotle chocolate ice cream next door when you’re done.

Wasabi, I couldn’t love you more if I tried. I am a fan of raw fish, especially when it is wrapped in yummy rice and topped with eel sauce, avocado, salmon, or all of these things at once. That said, Wasabi is my favorite sushi in Atlanta. The food is consistently good, and the Double Stackedd, Happy Ending, Supercrunch, and Pink Lady are pretty awesome. For anyone looking for a laidback atmosphere to enjoy sushi with friends, Wasabi is a winner here, too. No annoying screams of, «Sake Bomb,» but you can get one.

Here at Wasabi, sushi is exactly what it should be — expensive, with plenty of that wonderful melt-in-your-mouth feeling(meaning = fresh!). My friends and I each ordered a couple of rolls, plus some warm sake. Everything was top notch quality; you could tell they didn’t use cheap rice or fish. The plates and presentation was also very nicely done. What else? First, there was minimal parking — either you can risk your car out on the street, or use valet parking(not free) in the back. Second, the place is tiny, dark, and not very loud — I guess a good date location. And lastly, the service was just meh, which was surprising because there weren’t that many customers to manage anyways due to the small size of the place.

Awesome — Sushi! I was on business in Atlanta and read the reviews on Unilocal for Wasabi. This place rocks! If you are visiting Atlanta and are staying downtown, I highly recommend taking the short cab ride($ 8) to Wasabi. The restaurant is quite small but definitely welcoming. I tried the Bullseye roll(spicy unagi roll) and assorted sushi. Everything was top notch. The owner is the sushi chef and he is very friendly and funny. Great experience.

After reading the reviews, I was really excited to check this place out. I was also craving good sushi… BUT…I now know why this place is called Wasabi. There were bites that all I could taste was wasabi. Way too much! It took more than 30 mins, on what seemed to be a slow night, to get just 3 rolls! The server barely asked how everything was, and didn’t even thank us for our business. I’m pretty forgiving, and I usually give places the benefit of the doubt, but with the potential that I saw in this place, I was really disappointed. Maybe I’ll go back and get a completely different experience, but it’ll take a lot of convincing to get me back…

Heaven On Earth. What am I picky about? Sushi. I moved to Atlanta from San Diego 5 months ago and have been searching high & low for a respectable joint for my frequent sushi cravings. After reading all the positive reviews about Wasabi on Unilocal a group of us went there for my birthday. We ordered the Veggie Roll(someone didn’t eat fish), Candy Box, Supercrunch, Wabi Sabi, Pink Lady and one other roll that I cannot remember. My taste buds died from happiness. Since that evening nothing has tasted as delicious. Pink Lady was my favorite. The fish tasted FRESH. Unbelievable if I compare it to the other places I’ve visited. You cannot go wrong with any choice on the menu. Even the Veggie Roll was delicious so don’t fear, bring your sushi-shy friends here. As for the décor and atmosphere, it’s small and intimate. Absolutely perfect for a first date, anniversary, «I want to impress you»… but don’t be surprised if you catch me there in my sweat pants grabbing a to go order! *edit* Be careful who your sushi chef is. The second time I went here the lady behind the counter was very blasé about the whole process and left the fish out all over the counter. What we got was ok but warm. And the service… it’s like a whole different staff in the day time(we went in the late afternoon).

Wasabi is located in the Castleberry Hill area right down from No Mas Cantina. The food was good and tasted fresh. We ordered unagi nigiri, Candy Box rolls, Supercrunch rolls and another with cream cheese(that was my boyfriend’s idea, but wasn’t bad) and he always orders like tuna and salmon. We also had the sake(more about that later). This is my fourth sushi experience, having been to a spot in N.O., MF, RuSan’s and now Wasabi. I would have to say it is my definite second choice behind MF. And the price was not as steep, not cheap but not as steep. The best part was after we had 1 ½ carafes of sake and decided to go into the women’s bathroom(me and my boyfriend) and write on the chalkboard walls and take pictures in front of our retarded chalk written messages. BAM then the door opens just as the flash goes off, with my boyfriend standing camera in hand in the women’s bathroom. He said her eyes were as big as saucers and she quickly walked away. I screamed out through the door that I promised I was fully clothed. And I WAS for those with a nasty mind:) We had a great time. Wasabi=Good food and a Good time.

This is seriously the BEST sushi restaurant in Atlanta! Do not go anywhere else. Seriously this place has totally spoiled me. It is delicious & has such fresh fish & unique flavors. Anytime I go elsewhere to get sushi, I am usually disapointed because I have eaten so often at Wasabi. Now I’ll admit their service has a little something to be desired, but I am ok with that because the sushi is seriously amazing! Yum I want to go there now.

This is the first review that I will begin by praising the bathroom. Wasabi’s bathroom walls are made of chalkboard with giant pieces of colored chalk waiting for you to write everything from the perverse to the poetic. As serial writers, you Unilocalers can have a field day with this endorsement of graffiti. The Sushi is great. It is freshly made and uses high quality fish with inventive serving combinations. Nan(the owner) is super-welcoming with the added benefit that Wasabi is located in the heart of Castleberry Hill. No Mas’s amazing decorating showroom(and coffee bar) is right next door and there are about 10 art galleries within a couple blocks. This is a great date spot. My only complaint is the size and comfort of the seating(little girl tea party tables and chairs). Granted, I am 6’8″ and feel like Godzilla when I sit down at a table. All of you normal-sized people can enjoy you dainty eating without worry.

Went here to celebrate a fellow Unilocaler’s birthday and dragged along a good friend that has NEVER tried sushi before, he had a great time and really enjoyed the sushi. I love it when people act like they hate sushi so much ALTHOUGH they have never tried it. Like I mentioned before, the sushi was great BUT the service was another story. Getting chopsticks to eat with and trying to get the bill paid was a bit of a challenge. There were 7 people in our group\ and the girl so flustered that you would have thought that our group was the largest that Wasabi has ever seen. Also the trendy bars stools that I had to sit in was a lawsuit waiting to happen. All om All I will return to Wasabi, its close to my hood and the sushi was GREAT!

A bad year thus far, I realize I’ve totally neglected my duties as a friend. I decide to do a little making up by planning a small gathering with my chicas. We head to Wasabi. This place is pretty small. I think there is only room for about 2 large parties(meaning about 6 to 7 people per party) and then more intimate seating for couples. Now shame on me, I read the review which said not good for groups but I thought I’d see first hand(plus the other girls were also to my knowledge Wasabi virgins and I wanted all of us to experience it together). I like that we were seated although the entire party wasn’t there, some places are really against that. Our waitress was cute as a button. I had the X-rated rockstar which was rockin’. I liked how the bathroom walls were a chalkboard, and I loved leaving a little piece of the Sexy 6 on the walls =). Drawbacks, it took the food awhile to come out, it was pretty good so I can’t complain too much. The waitress was totally clueless about how to break out the check, which leads to my #1 pet peeve. When it’s a group larger than 2 you SHOULDALWAYS ask if the check is going to be split. Overall I really enjoyed the intimate environment and the opportunity to have a nice dinner with the girls. For this fact alone I give this place 4 stars.

Me and a friend of mine have been wanting to try this place for a long time. we finally were able to make it over to wasabi to check it out. the place is pretty small, has cute décor – very minimalist, there may have been 4 other people when we went, but we seriously had to wait 45 min after we ordered to get our food. once we finally did get it, it was good. but seriously, 45 min. It’s not like they had to cook it.

Made a last minute decision to have sushi the other night and decided we’d give WASABi another visit. It was a bit more crowded than before(which is nice because it was DEAD last time we went) and the food was as consistent as last time. Still a tad short on the meat, but all-around tasty. Still, as I’ve mentioned previously in other reviews, I’ve been told by a friend in the beer distrib industry that when a bar is out of a few beers on tap it’s the first sign of a cash-flow problem. According to him, beer is always easy to get if you’re financially liquid. They were out of 2 beers of maybe 4 typically on tap. Hope that’s just a sign of the holiday and not a sign of a short future. See my previous review for a full report but consider this update a vote for consistency. I had the Wabi Sabi(hard to eat but very tasty and a good low-carb option). She had the StakeDD(also very good and a tad spicy). Peep the menu for specifics:

Again, what can I say… THEBESTSUSHIINATLANTA!!! I stopped by yesterday(Tuesdays are Neighborhood Night if you want to hang with the locals) to meet up with friends and ordered up my favorites… The Pink Lady and Bubble Gum. Also tried a new roll called the Candy Box which was pretty good! The owner and staff are always friendly and amazing! Definitely Castleberry Hills own modern day version of Cheers… where everybody really does know your name!

I realized that I hadn’t Unilocal’d some of my neighborhood fave’s, of which WASABi is definitely one of. It quickly took the place of other sushi places that my husband and I used to go to and as most reviews say, «it’s what a neighborhood sushi bar should be.» The place is small, there’s plenty of street or lot parking(shared with No Mas down Haynes St), the food is fresh, yummy and consistent(thanks Nhan and Jen), service is friendly and attentive(thanks Joel) and they have great cocktails(thanks Becca)!
