Whole Foods Market Sandy Springs

I love their mock chicken nuggets with cherry sauce (almost like BBQ). This location has them all the time, when the location on Ponce De Leon doesn’t.

I have been coming here for a couple of years now. Appreciate how helpful and polite the employees are. Especially during check out, very friendly and willing to go grab an item you may have forgotten, or if your eggs are broken.
Most of the time they keep everything in stock. We are big veggie and fruit folks, so I like that the produce is usually fresh and they have options for organic. They have apples galore for regular or organic. A bit pricy but plenty of options.
Their seafood selection and fish is good. We get the Salomon. I love that they have turkey leg, turkey breast options versus purchasing the entire bird.
It can be frustrating to find brands that are in Kroger, Publix, and prices are definitely more expensive here.
I still get some of my items from Kroger. They typically do not have as good of sales as other grocery stores. You usually won’t see bogos.
They get 4 stars because of their staff and willingness to always help and have tons of enthusiasm.
Not a fan of their over priced items and brands but appreciate the organic selection. It is better than Trade Joes.

The prepared foods in this store are consistently terrible and often inedible. I’ve had to return a few rotten salads and just wasted $ 6 on spongy eggs. There is no pride in what they do; they’re cruising on minimal effort.

The coffee from their coffee stand isn’t good… the store is very small so they have less items than other whole foods.

WF will always be at least a 4 for me. I’m slightly addicted to them. This WF and the one in the Highlands are on the ones I go to daily/​weekly. Ugh — I spend way too much money. But it’s okay. They’re healthy… therefore, it’s excusable, right!!!
Parking is great here. WF shares it with a lot of other places, but you won’t really struggle for a parking spot. Worst case scenario — you walk an extra 3 mins to get inside.
I only use the hot bar. They have everything I want minus… jalapenos :(So sad. That’s my only quip. But besides that, I’m completely happy. All the food is good, fresh and tasty. My fav is the spicy cabbage, asian noodles, with the yellow (birihian? rice).
Employees are super nice and very helpful. I’ve never had a bad experience with them at all. :D
It also helps this is the closest WF to my office.

Came here for brunch with my partner since I got a gift card from Whole Foods for my Birthday. I love Whole Foods but my love is slowly dying… I am a sushi lover. I eat sushi 90% of the time that I go to any Whole Foods. I came today craving sushi and spotted a new rice called midnight rice or dark rice. The sushi chef was very nice and let me try the rice before purchasing the Double Salmon Black Rice roll. The roll cost $ 13.49 and it’s supposed to have DOUBLE the Salmon. Whole Foods is the ONLY organic/​healthy super market without a discount day on sushi like Sprouts & Earth Fare. Also, if you look closely at my picture the salmon is cut incorrectly and the portion of salmon put ontop of the roll is not enough. A sushi roll does not get covered with a little piece of salmon. Put the proper size of fish on the roll or at least start a once a week discount.

The penny-​pincher in me wants to rate this place a star or two lower based on the principle of affordability (especially when it comes to comestibles!) but my inner food lover just punched the penny-​pincher in the face.
You see, as pricey as some items (or most items) at Whole Foods are, it is hard to not be impressed right as you walk in. «Man, pears sure don’t look that way at Hong Kong Supermarket on Jimmy Carter…» «Whoa, the greens are all vibrant and not wilting!» «My shoe soles aren’t getting sticky just from treading the floors!» You pay for all these things and lots of times, dearly. But I enjoy just ogling the stuff.
My favorites places in Whole Foods are the food bars, where there is a mixture of hot and cold foods to choose from. You will pay by the pound, so don’t go crazy. The weight increases without you even noticing it. My method is to ensure I don’t load up on «cheap» food, as the price per pound is the same, regardless of what you have in your plate/​box. The bakery is also pretty fantastic, with beautiful loaves of bread, pretty cakes, and very decent macarons. I will go on record to say that WH macarons are better than most of the ones coming out of Asian bakeries. I’m not being cruel, just honest. Taste them and decide for yourself. The prepared food in the refrigerated cases is also neat to check out and will allow you to get a decent meal without having to prep and wash too many dishes. Cheese section is pretty extensive and AT goes slightly wild when he makes it here. We’ve found some good ones to try but compared to the farmers markets and our local supermarket, the prices are steep (like everything else though, right?). You’ll find a gelato/​ice cream case near the register, which sometimes has really cool flavors. Last visit, I noticed that WH is now selling cold-​brewed coffee next to the ice cream case, made in-​house.
I don’t buy most other things, though I know people who love to come to WH to score the latest trendy foodstuff, which is usually available here while not being easily found in regular grocery stores. If you can’t wait for Amazon to deliver something, just stop by Whole Foods. I also hear the beauty/​skincare/​haircare stuff is pretty good but I have not tried anything personally.
If you brace yourself for the prices, you won’t have sticker shock and you will probably end up spending more than you thought by the time you weave your way through the store.

Stopped by for some lunch. You cannot ever go wrong with whole foods salad bar. One thing I did notice about the salad bar is that they don’t have a protein/​meat section for the salad. I circled the bar like five times looking for it. My coworker and I sat outside and enjoyed our delicious hearty salad. I went a little crazy and stuffed my box with too much food and paid around $ 14.

Well, I took it a step further by having my groceries delivered by instacart ! Food and instacart service was a perfect fit .
The food was hand picked and delivered by the friendliest person !

I was very hungry… I wanted some eggs before I started my day. I waited until 8am then went over to WFM SP because I didn’t want to risk buying something with a plastic aftertaste elsewhere. I get there and everyone is waiting around the front door for the store to open. People inside are working and taking care of business. My watch said 8:00am but perhaps it wasn’t. Not a big deal… except the breakfast bar was not up and running. They only had salad. sigh. I overheard a staff member telling a customer «they should set up soon.» I tried to wait but I couldn’t. I had hoped to run in, scoop the eggs in a bowl and get out.
This isn’t the first time I’ve had experienced slow service at this location and one reason that though it remains the closest to me, I still go to WFM Buckhead. I’ll probably use this location as my secondary. Maybe the breakfast bar isn’t open until later? I’ll go back on the website and check. I also hope whomever is responsible for updating the SEO/​online info makes sure the opening time changes from 7am to the actual opening time of 8am. When I did a search to confirm their opening time it said 7am… that’s very deceptive. Not blaming them but someone needs to fix it.

Coming in and out of town for work in Atlanta, this is my go to. Location is great and right off the highway.

This WF is huge! I love the layout and all of the open lanes. I needed to find something quickly and the employees were very helpful. I would return to this location!

I really like Whole Foods despite the really high prices! Stopped by today for lunch. I created a very healthy Salad choc full of fresh crunchy goodness! The price was fine, under $ 10 for the salad & a drink. What IRKS me is the very poor quality of the plastic utensils. Petty? Seems so. Impossible to cut my broccoli florets, my red cabbage & the yellow & green peppers. Impossible! I spend a lot to eat here, please spend more on making the experience effortless!

I took Nonna to lunch on Sunday. I couldn’t find «Tin Can Fish and Oyster House» — where the heck is it? — so I just took her to the food-​by-​the-​ounce buffet at Whole Foods.
N.B. This is a review of the prepared food, not the whole store which looked like a pretty standard Whole Foods.
Nonna got what she wanted; I got what i wanted. The meal was quick, remarkably tasty and inexpensive.
Then it struck me like a bolt of lightning. The buffet at Whole Foods — and there are bigger, more elaborate buffets at other Whole Foods stores — is better than about half the restaurants I’ve gone to since I started Unilocaling in 2009. Seriously.
Let’s re-​set the meter, fellow Unilocalers.
– If you should go hungry rather than eat at a place: 1 star.
– If a restaurant isn’t as good as Whole Foods: 2 stars.
– If a sit-​down restaurant with waiters is about as good as Whole Foods: 3 stars.
– If it’s better than Whole Foods and it’s worth driving 15 minutes for: 4 stars.
– If it’s worth driving across town for: 5 stars.

I love Whole Foods! I’m not a big fan of their hot foods deli bar. It seems like some of that stuff sits out there for days, but I’ll share a tip. They will cook any piece of fresh meat or seafood upon request! I went to the seafood aisle and got an 11oz piece of wild sockeye salmon and they broiled it for me at the deli. I got a restaurant quality seafood dinner costing just slightly more than a real restaurant.
Just $ 45 for a dinner for 1. Not too bad!

I’ll preface by saying I’m now a Jersey girl … not born and bred but have lived here so long I have lost sight of the fact that everything in the north-​east costs roughly twice what it costs anywhere else.
I’ve been to this Whole Foods a couple times while traveling for work. I’ve been doing a lot of juicing (basically juicing until dinner time) and I wanted to keep it up while traveling for work so the hotel shuttle brought me here (after much begging and sad eyes when they tried to say it was too far …).
Anyway, I headed straight to the juices and my jaw dropped when I saw the prices for HPP (high pressure pasteurized) vegetable juices from Arden’s Gardens, and even the Evolution juices. Wow … seriously there were some juices only $ 2.99. In the northeast the cheapest juice you will find is 4.99 and most are 6.99 minimum. So I was psyched. I had to even take a picture of the juice selection with prices to post to Facebook … it was so cheap by NYC standards. For locals in Atalanta, I know you probably still consider it ‘Whole Paycheck’ but seriously for me it was a crazy bargain.
Kudos also to the great lady in the department with the hand cremes. My knuckles were dry from the cold dry air and she recommended a Savannah Bees hand crème that is absolutely divine. When I run out, I’m going to definitely be ordering more on Amazon.

Whole Foods where you go for higher quality grocery items at a higher price point.
I have to say this location has always been a great customer service experience. Sometimes you just want to know when you are spending a lot of money, that there are people around you who can offer you a smile and some help picking out those expensive items. From the meat and seafood counter to the cashiers, everyone has always been helpful and friendly. And it’s never really crowded. I am usually in and out at the checkout line pretty quick.
I will say the hot bar always looks good, the meat and seafood always look good (I was eyeing some really nice steaks but how my wallet works sometimes …), and the shelves are always stocked. I follow this location on Facebook and they often have cool events and while inside I saw a chalkboard set up with a couple of event listings. So they have some interactive events which add a fun and educational element to your grocery shopping experience.
I am glad they repainted the parking lot. That was a little of a pain but it’s much easier to get around the lot now.

I guess maybe it’s their proximity to CityWalk Kroger but I have had two really bad customer service experiences here that really turn me off from the place.
Management at least is EXTREMELY responsive to complaints, but today was just absolutely stupid that I still have to drop a star. My first bad experience involved a cashier that held up the entire line because the hot chick in front of us was having problems paying for her hot bar food. I filled out their online form when I got home and got a call like two hours later that next time I came in they would have a $ 10 gift card for me for it. I was not expecting that, just maybe hoping they’d tell this guy that’s not how being a cashier works.
That was a few years ago and I figured there wouldn’t be a problem… until I go in tonight for a whole pizza. I tell the guy working at the pizza area that I want a whole one, knowing it’s a wait. He tells me 25 minutes. I wander the store for exactly 25 minutes and head back over there. A woman at the station next to pizza asks if I need help and I tell her I was picking up a pizza, she asks him when he comes from the back if I called ahead. He says no. I’m immediately like… dude I talked to you 25 minutes ago.
He took my pizza and cut it for the slices that they sell. Or at least that’s what he says. He puts the pieces to make a whole one in the box and that’s that. No attempt to even warm them up. I mean he took so long and I was so shocked at the fact I was just going to be given slices when the whole point of ordering a pizza was to get a whole, hot pizza.
And it was entirely cold, which leads me to believe he actually never bothered to make a pizza rather than he «forgot and sliced it up.» Given the time it had taken so far and that I really couldn’t waste anymore time to talk to someone then and there about what just happened, I just took it, paid for my other stuff, and headed home. So while I heated a couple slices in the oven, I hopped over to their website and filled out the form. A few hours later I had one back from a manager about how it was unacceptable, and to come in to talk to him or call, and that they’ll refund me. A few hours after that I also got one from someone in prepared foods.
I still just can’t believe it.
There are some times that cashiers are pretty unfriendly but I’m starting to sense a trend to not deal with dudes outside of supervisory positions. I’ve also had to wait a TON at the café before, to the point some woman who got in line behind me straight up yelled at someone in the bakery.
I also once had a guy cashier bag my stuff so poorly that the bag ripped and my plastic container of soup burst when it hit the sidewalk. I’m talking burst 5 feet outside the door. I asked a guy for help… he was clueless and got someone else, who was beyond nice about it and let me get a replacement soup (though it kind of sucked because the soup that broke was the only one left of its kind). So seriously you kind of get the idea now I’m not going to male cashiers in this store.
But hey the local funky mixed salts that they sell in bulk now are pretty awesome.

I just moved and received a coupon mailer for a «dinner on us» meal from Whole Foods. The card stated it was up to a $ 19.99 value-​score!
I get to Whole Foods and ask someone working where I have to go to pick up this illusive tease of a meal. The first worker I talked to had no idea. The second worker I approached wouldn’t even make eye contact. The third, also had no idea what the coupon was about and he told me to go to customer service. I stood at the customer service counter for five minutes waiting for someone, anyone, to magically appear. The phone was ringing off the hook. Several workers walked by but no one made eye contact or attempted to help.
How do you send out a mailer promoting a free meal and several other coupons but your employees have no idea about it?
I get it, Whole Foods, I’m not good enough to shop in your store. I’m going back to Trader Joes where customer service still thrives.

There’s Whole Foods and then there’s Whole Foods. When I die, bury me at Whole Foods on West Paces. I. Love. That. Place. Whole Foods Sandy Springs is just fine, but it’s not Buckhead nice.
Everything about it is good not great in comparison to my home base Whole Foods. I stop here occasionally because it’s conveniently located right off I-​285. They have all the same stuff, but the lighting is kind of too dim and the aisles are set up in an odd way where some run parallel and others run perpendicular. Sure, they have all of the same products, but when you’re going to spend a whole paycheck on your organic kale, you deserve a grade A presentation to go with it. The checkout cashiers are always a little slower and less enthusiastic, probably because they have never had to experience the Buckhead rush hour traffic of a million yuppies like who depend upon the Whole Foods hot bar for sustenance and survival.
If this is your first or only Whole Foods experience, I feel kind of bad for you because it’s just not the same thing. It gets the job done, but it’s not a magical mecca.
