Local radio is great. You get a large variety of music and hear new things all the time. This station plays blues in the morning, Africana some afternoons, local bands, classical, rock, hip hop, you name it.
I understand if you want to listen to top 40s stations where you hear the same set of songs everyday. Go ahead and numb yourself. Sometimes I need to be brainwashed too, but if you can break away from popular media, you will be advocating the demonopolization of radio and support your community… if nothing else, it’s perfect morning alarm music.
