I’m giving this a three-star because of an incident that happened today… I thought I had reviewed this place before but I realize now I had not… On a normal basis this would have a five star because I feel like between Merced and Atwater this is definitely the best tasting donut place. They’ve always been very good and very fresh… However, today I went in right before they closed to get some donuts and the way their pricing menu is set up is that on the back wall behind the counter all of the donuts and their pricing are on big pieces of hot pink paper and the prices are written in black marker… Very big and very easy to read… As she was ringing me up I noticed that she charged me $ 1.95 twice for jelly filled donuts and clearly it’s indicates on the wall that they are $ 1.65 ea… when I brought it to her attention she stated that jelly filled donuts are $ 1.95 and I pointed and showed her what it said on the back wall and she replied snippetely that it was wrong… She ended up giving me the price that was on the wall but she wasn’t very happy about it… The moral of this is that if you go in there make sure that the prices on the wall or what you’re paying for… God knows how many people they ripped off doing that

When I was in high school(just last year) I use to go here ALLTHETIME before school started! Their donuts are freshly made and their workers are always very friendly. Even now living in San Francisco, I haven’t been able to find a donut shop that compares!

This is the best donut place is town. The owner is a very nice person, best customer service ever. When you walk in its warm homey and so welcoming. They open very early they have a big variety of donuts so fresh and delicious. I love the maple bars which are so big and covered in sweet smooth maple frosting. Im also a big fan of the chocolate old fashioned, my husband loves the apple fritters. Some places make the donuts very small not Jr’s you get what you pay for. The owner is very kind, I went this morning and I didn’t have enough money for my 2 donuts and coffee. He didn’t make me feel embarrassed he said I could have a big cup of coffee and to not worry about it. I was very happy. His good heart shows in his business. I highly recommend this shop, try it once and you will go back for more and tell everyone you know to try them out. It’s very clean well stocked and lots of parking. Unilocal is very helpful in getting the word out on small businesses like this. See you there.

My family has been JR. Donut customers for years we enjoyed the atmosphere and customer service the owner used to give his place but as of a few months now prices has been taken down and this new kid now is at the register. I hesitated in writing a review sooner because well it’s only fair to give a chance we’ll I’ve been there a few times now in the past weeks and this kid is rude. No concern for customers needs very blunt and not even a hello or a thank you. He seems bothered by being there an as soon as you pay he doesn’t say a word n turns right to his cell phone the no prices listed threw me off too a sugar donut cost me $.85 while a braided donut of regular size costs almost $ 1.50 no receipt given nor offered. I know prices went up but I think it’s a little too much when in other places they do have reasonable prices and better service. I don’t like being surprised at the register I would like to know how much I’m paying in advance. Like I said I have been here for many many years and now it’s just really not a place a first place for me to go to.

I’m from SF and the donuts in the city aren’t as good as J-R’s. The apple fritter is one of the best I’ve ever come across and the size, it can be a challenge on Man v. Food. It’s crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Heavenly. Wish they had a store closer to me.

Oh my word! these doughnuts are totally fantastic! Do they get any better than this? There is another doughnut shop in Livingston, Ca called Sunshine doughnuts that is superb too. If you are anywhere near these towns, it is worth a stop! I love the maple long johns. The custard filled chocolate are heavenly too.

Love this donut shop! Simple and homey place that sells only the freshest donuts. Every time we drive up to Northern California, we always have to stop by and grab some donuts on the way. As soon as we walk through the doors, we’re always greeted with a big smile by the staff. I love all their donuts especially their cinnamon and blueberry donut! And if you don’t feel like getting a donut, they also have croissants and other pastries. I highly recommend checking this place out!
