We had a great first time experience. We got to cut the tree that we chose. It was such a fun experience. The couple that runs the place are very friendly and hospitable! We will definitely come back!
And the mandarines were to die for! We highly suggest this place and don’t forget to buy a bag of mandarines!!!

We just arrived to pine valley. Was here 30 minutes early with my family and wanted to take pictures with my family and get a tree. Instead of just going on the lot, I called the number posted. First I was hung up on, I was in disbelief so I called back. A very rude man answered and informed me that wasn’t going to happen. I don’t understand how a buisness owner could be SO rude for no reason.

This place was awesome! We went to Coles last year, but they’re closed down so we gave it a shot here and we are so glad that we did! The driveway to the farm is located in a remote neighborhood and once you drive down in, you’ll be immediately hit with serenity. Definitely try this place out!

Cash or local check only! $ 8/​foot, plus tax. Very helpful and polite service. Good selection of trees of all sizes. You can cut or they will cut for you. Smelled like Christmas! Would buy from again.

A lot of our family came and got trees today. We had a wonderful time and the trees are so much less expensive than what we were used too paying. The cost is $ 8.00 per foot and the owner Bob Hane always goes in your favor by reducing the height by half a foot.

I filled all the open daily signs and arrived at 1030 am to a closed gate. They didn’t even answer their phones or leave a note or sign. Do you know how hard it is to get your wife and infant and toddler loaded up in the car and out of the house?

(Accidentally posted this as a «tip» before) Love this place! It is sooo pretty and everyone is super nice. They have a nice outside fire to sit around and drink hot coco, and the best oranges I’ve ever had. Yes, you have to pay for the whole tree and yes, They charge for twine its like two bucks, suck it up and quit whining. There are several kinds of beautiful trees growing there to choose from plus they bring down the noble firs from their farm in oregon so they have those as well.
Wonderful place, I highly recommend it.

We found this place on Unilocal after a farm that had been recommended to us was closed on a Sunday. I just recently moved out here from Utah, and this place felt like a new family Christmas tradition. They have a beautiful farm with a little stream running through, and really felt like we were getting out of the city without going too far.
I initially thought the price was very high… I had expected to pay a little more for the experience, but it felt like a lot! After running errands today and seeing the prices at Home Depot and Walmart, I actually felt like we got a good deal, and I got to wear a plaid shirt and feel like a sexy lumberjack for the day… so that’s priceless!

Time to kick the dog, and make it Unilocal!Love this place, been coming here for years, and will keep coming here, we always got a great tree that lasted well into the new year, but we do our part to make that happen, and when when you go tree shopping be prepared to bring one home.

Dropping original review one star. Not 2 weeks after cutting a fresh tree, it’s as dry as a bone. It’s been kept full of water and now looks absolutely horrible. Completely sagged and needles falling off all the time. So disappointed. Will not be going back next year.

The people who are complaining about twine on here need to drive to the mall and pick up a tree in their lot there, not that there is anything wrong with that. If you are going to buy a christmas tree make sure to bring your own twine, rope, or straps … this is just common sense! This place is beautiful and the owners are more than delightful. This place really does bring out the true meaning of Christmas. Families are everywhere, the fresh mountain air, and the feeling of choosing your own tree.

REALLY! REALLY! The owner of Pine Valley Ranch charged me $ 1.75 for the twine to tie the feeble tree I just paid him $ 52 for. REALLY! I did the best I could to keep from laughing. I thought he was joking. But he put his hand out and took my two dollars. I said «are you serious?» He smiled and said «we charge for everything here except the air you breath» and he handed me a plastic baggy with a few feet of twine in it. If you doubt this review, call and ask if they charge for twine! I told him I was afraid to ask how much he charged for netting to wrap the tree. He just smiled and said, «it’s available if you’re willing to pay.» I don’t know what the earlier reviewers mean by not being «nickled and dimed» by the Hanes family at Pine Valley Ranch, but I’m new to the area and where I come from charging $ 1.75 for a few feet of twine that cost pennies is nickling and diming. No, it’s actually obnoxious! I told him to keep the quarter change, he must be in pretty bad shape and can use it better than me. He tried to laugh it off and held the quarter out as if his approach was humorous and acceptable. Mister, there ain’t nothing not-​rude about charging paying customers 6000 percent markup on twine after they have paid you very well for a tree. For the customers who say they will never go anywhere else but Pine Valley Ranch, you have my pity. I wonder if the Hanes’ kids had to pay for their meals while growing up. A *GREAT* way to get in the holiday spirit!

I suppose it depends on what you’re looking for, but for us the trees here were the worst we’ve ever seen at a tree farm. We are a family of five and none of us saw a single tree that was even a candidate. I don’t believe we are overly picky, so I conclude that the people who gave positive reviews must like shapeless, wild trees with missing branches and crooked tops. We went away empty handed.

Went here today based on the reviews and it was great. Fair prices, great service, huge choice of both already cut very fresh trees and trees you (or they) cut down. Great experience, thanks!

We live in Auburn and would not think of going any place else. The owners are GREAT and they do NOT nickel and dime you, in fact they are VERY generous in assessing the height of the tree you bring in, after cutting it. Plus the trees are so much fresher and last for over a month, providing you follow their instructions.

This place is the best — — we’ve been going here for years — no reason to go anywhere else. It’s a beautiful location, close to Hwy49. We come from Roseville. The family that runs it are very nice. Their prices are very reasonable — you can get a really nice sized beautiful Grand Fir (my favorite) for about 40bucks. Those type are pre-​cut from a different location and they have another style that is choose & cut fresh. There is a smallish gift shop, beautiful garden and pond, a nice wood stove heater and cute dogs hanging about. Also hot chocolate and cider for sale (used to have chili but gone last year though)
