UNITS Moving & Portable Storage

If you just want a quick summary review of our experience, this is by far the best storage experience we’ve ever had! The units are top-​notch and the customer service is exceptional. We also found the pricing reasonable and with no hidden charges. If you’re looking for portable storage, look no further — this is the company to use.

We needed someplace to store our furniture and most of our belongings for several months while we renovated the home we were moving into. After reading the reviews on Unilocal,we decided to go with UNITS. Wow! Along with saying «ditto» to what everyone else has written to date, we are happy to add our own review and hearty recommendation for UNITS Moving and Portable Storage.
Inquiries/​communication: Dan responded promptly to our initial inquiry, He was professional, courteous, and patiently answered all my questions (which were many since we were storing many family heirlooms),
Scheduling: Amazing! The closing on our home was postponed at the last minute and we had to call Dan to reschedule the delivery of our UNIT. No problem! He also offered some suggestions to help us save time and money, and delivered the UNIT on the new date as promised. On the scheduled pick-​up date, a cancellation had skewed their original schedule, but Dan kept me updated on the new ETA by phone and email throughout the afternoon.
UNIT placement: SO COOL! We asked whether we could have our UNIT placed in a specific area that has a narrow opening. Dan said that as long as the clearance around the top and sides were good, they’d give it a try. Well, whatever that robot gizmo is that they use to move the UNIT… wow! Talk about precision! Dan placed the UNIT right where we wanted it, with the door facing away from the street and toward our entrance (especially helpful during our occasional midnight runs to the UNIT for some necessary item that we forgot to bring in before retiring for the evening)! And when Jon arrived to pick up the UNIT, he had several people from our neighborhood as an audience… that robot thing that they use to move the units is just so cool! You really have to see it to believe it.
The UNIT itself: We had our UNIT for 3 months. The UNIT was so clean that it looked practically new. Clean, spacious — and designed and constructed to keep the contents dry and insect/​rodent free. We were thrilled when we entered our UNIT during and after the recent torrential rains and found everything perfectly dry. The entire container is some sort of heavy duty metal — including the roof — and the roof is designed with an overlap around the perimeter to keep out the elements — so important during Seattle’s raining fall and winter season!
Cost: Very reasonable! We had been storing items in a local storage place prior to our move and, while we were very happy with that particular facility, we really wanted to have our belongings nearby since we now needed to store clothing and other daily use items during our renovation. The cost of our UNIT was comparable to the off-​site storage unit we had been using, and the UNIT provided us the convenience of on-​site storage… we could access it ²⁴⁄₇ without having to drive anywhere. And, as mentioned earlier, there were no hidden costs — no unpleasant surprises. When we scheduled the UNIT, Dan provided a detailed breakdown of costs, so we knew up front how to budget.
Overall, this was a great experience and money well spent.

I cold-​called Dan during a frantic search on a Friday afternoon, after a botched delivery with a bigger, better-​known mobile storage company. Huge move planned for the following day. But, my driveway was 6 inches shy of their 12′ requirement and so all of a sudden, the whole plan was DOA right at the last minute. After striking out with every other conceivable alternative, and 5pm approaching quickly, I got a call back from Dan. As we talked I was a little wary — mostly because everything seemed perfect — what was the catch? Turns out, there wasn’t one. I finally finished arranging the details around 7:30pm probably, and Dan showed up just as planned, first thing Saturday morning. It was amazing. Dan was great, the units are clean and new, and they can fit basically anywhere. I wouldn’t use any other company going forward, and I’ve recommended UNITS to everyone who’s heard the story.

I had a great experience with these guys. Dan always responded to all the calls and emails. The scheduling and pick up was very easy and convenient for me. I wasn’t sure if I needed one or two Units, and after speaking to Dan he suggested to start with one and if I need the second Unit they will deliver next day. I actually needed just one unit, and I’m glad that I didn’t spend the extra money. They didn’t upsell me on services or products that I don’t — just provided great customer service.

Excellent customer service. Easy, fast, and polite.

Based on the excellent service that we received during our recent move, I felt that un update to our previous rating was well-​deserved. From our first encounter with Dan, to the deliveries and pick-​ups by Jon and Steve, I felt we were always given the best customer service. Throughout our move, Dan was responsive and informative to every question or concern we posed. We used two UNITS containers for our move — one for furniture and the other for household goods and miscellaneous stuff accumulated.
For our second UNIT, I determined that we would need furniture pads and extra straps to secure our load. I had not originally ordered these items and called Dan to see if I could swing by and pick these things up. Dan indicated that would not be necessary, and personally delivered these items to our doorstep! Telephone calls and email messages were promptly responded to, without fail.
For anyone considering an option for storage and/​or moving of their household goods and furniture, I would highly recommend using Dan and his company — you will not be disappointed. Thanks, again, for the unbelievably excellent service!

Dan delivered new, clean, storage UNITS with optional disk lock at the requested time. Delivery/​pickup was quick and precise with their robot loader. I appreciated the great service which allowed me to focus on completion of the project that required temporary storage.

I needed to move out my old house and temporary stayed in my friend house for 2 weeks before I can finally moved to my new house. Consider how many business/​contractors/​services I need to use. UNITS easily be the best business overall in this whole process (well, beside my real estate agent). That’s really the way how a business should run. In short, good price, good value of product and good service.
1. Price
Compared at least 4 other similar type of service include PODS, U-​Haul storage box, etc. They are the best in price per cubic foot of storage.
2. Setup the rental process
Easy, simple and clear. Every charges are show upfront and being broken down including the initial delivery and re-​delivery and the monthly rent. Believe me, since I research others service, it’s not necessary like that… I almost sign up for another service before I read their review…
3. The storage itself
Nothing special here. As described in their web page — size wise and structure wise but SUPER clean. I even feel guilty to put stuff in it…
4. Delivery/​Re-​delivery
That’s something I can’t review. I personally not at home every time they come. But nothing to report mean good I think.
5. Customer service
The best of the best. Dan (may be the owner??) always communicate with me days before delivery and pick up of the containers. He call me on follow up the schedule even before my wife remind me to call them! Our new house has delayed closing and they have no problem and really flexible to re-​deliver the container on ever changing date. They are really the most reliable party in the whole process when everybody else being not reliable.
So appreciated there is such a good business to help especially when other things not go right for us. If I can give them six stars, I would.

We chose UNITS on the recommendation of our daughter’s business associate. They had nothing but positive remarks and gave us a glowing referral. From the first phone call, to the final pick-​up of the last container, we were treated with remarkable courtesy, endless patience and prepared for each step in the process. It was flawless in execution. Every commitment was met, prices quoted were the prices charged, telephone calls were answered promptly by the principals involved. We thank our lucky starts that UNITS was the company that served us. After 46 years in our home, it was a monumental task to undertake. We were treated with respect from beginning to end. We sold our house and needed a place to hold our belongings for 4 – 6 months until our new house was ready. My sister had recommended PODS because she have moved a few times but I spent quite a bit of time doing research online and getting quotes and we ended up choosing UNITS. We chose UNITS because the price was equally competitive but the reviews were better, the containers were clean and new looking. Plus we liked the 16′ size and the more hard-​sided construction of the containers.
I must say, we definitely made the right choice. Dan and his team has just been fantastic. They are easy to work with and quick to respond to inquiries. Our move in date has continued to slip so we have needed to access the containers a few times but Dan made it super easy. In fact, just this morning we had an immediate need to access our container and even though Dan was not at the warehouse, within 4 hours he had found a way to get our container pulled and available for us. The customer service is just top notch.
We also like that our containers are secure in an indoor warehouse and the equipment used to move them causes very little shift in contents. Oh, and we were also totally impressed how much we could cram in there — the weight limit is quite generous!

I used UNITS for a short move. I priced a couple of pod type services, and UNITS offered me the best price, especially given an added discount for a move within the same zip code. They were personable throughout the whole process. I had no trouble scheduling delivery and pickup for the days and times I wanted. They clearly checked email during off hours and got back to me quickly. Very good service.

Extremely clean, secure, easy to access and they actually DO SCHEDULE delivery AND pick-​up. Their competitors do not.

The best experience I have ever had and I’m in the customer experience business! We are doing a major purge of belongings, downsizing, and temp relocation while our house is remodeled. We looked for a storage solution and hated to do the regular public storage thing. We settled on PODS and made the arrangements. The delivery arrived on time but we didn’t know about the room required for the huge POD delivery machine. Our backs were against the wall on timing and we went back to the drawing board and within an hour had found Dan and Units, and had a Units storage cube on its way.
I watched the videos on line while we waited, I was amazed by the robot loader that needed no room and eased the unit into the driveway. So cool.
The delivery guy was wonderful, Dan helped us out of a jam, and when we figured out we would need help to load it we went back to Dan and he connected us with Kendric at Acme. They had the whole thing loaded in 2 hours!
I cant say enough great things about Dan and Units. I wish I found them before now.

We ended up needing a storage solution because of lag time between selling our house and getting into our new one. I am SOOO happy we went with Units. Dan has TERRIFIC customer service and made it an easy process. We ended up needing 3 Units for our 2 bedroom house and they were delivered and picked up exactly on time. And NOTHING broke! They have a robotic thing that moves them around, and it must be awesome because I really expected a bit of a jumble when we opened one of them that we had packed with nothing square (all our weirdly shaped things). But NOTHING was broken. A few things had shifted in the front, but I was really impressed with how nothing moved so much to break, not even frames and a glass table top. I would HIGHLY recommend Dan and Units. Affordable and EASY!

The first thing that impressed me about Units is they actually answer the phone when you call. Their prices are reasonable and they delivered quickly. It was clean inside and out and didn’t have a rusty old look. They got this Unit up a very steep, narrow driveway and into a small area next to the garage with remote control! It was fun to watch and very impressive. Dan is easy to contact by phone or email. This is a local company and I like to support local companies. Great job Dan.

I couldn’t have been more pleased with the customer service, the quality of the unit itself and my overall experience with this company. Dan was professional and quick to answer any of my questions. Top Notch Customer Service!!!
Due to a home construction problem and coming rain, we needed a storage unit on VERY short notice. Dan answered my call after 6pm, was professional, extremely helpful, listened to what we needed, and worked outside the box to meet our needs. His delivery guy also went out of his way to meet our timeline to get the unit delivered.
No other business I called could make it work, but these guys found a way! They are a new, locally owned and operated business and it shows that they truly care about their customers. They earned our business and I’ll be happy to use them in the future.

Like everyone else I’ve done my research comparing Pods, U-​Haul Ubox, Door to Door, SmartBox, Pack-​Rat, etc. From the start Dan Domingo went out of his way to provide all of the detailed information I asked for and usually within a few hours! His responsive time and responsiveness is incredible.
We’re in a unique situation where we close on the sale of our condo and the house we are moving into on the same day. The anxiety that comes from moving and coordinating all of the details is more than overwhelming — but you know what? Dan has taken a huge chunk of that away. I know without a doubt that the container we order will show up as promised and that they will be proactive about calling to confirm the delivery time window. In addition because of our same day closings — we are concerned that we may not be able to move in the same day — if there is a hiccup. I asked Dan if they could accommodate a last minute change and guess what — he said YES! How many companies would do that — AND do so at no additional charge?
I’ve always worked in customer service and am usually disappointed at the lack of follow thru or putting the customer first. If you are trying to decide on a company to use — I can assure you that this locally owned company will take exceptional care of you and that if you have any questions or concerns Dan will take care of you.

I was looking for a storage container which was large enough to contain the majority of our furniture for a move. I inquired pricing through the Units website for delivery to the current house, rental for a month, and delivery/​pick up from the new house. For the 16′ container, the price was the best I could find and the quote was instantly calculated on the website. Immediately after my inquiry, Dan from Units gave me a call to answer my questions and set up the rental.
The Unit was delivered without any problems and I was happy to see that the container was very clean. Looks new! And all of our items stayed dry in the container through pouring rain!
The unit was great and all, but I really must give a rave review to Dan for being accommodating beyond expectations! He really helped me out despite last minute changes on delivery time and date. Also he was very easy to communicate with and always got back to me right away.
I would highly recommend Units to anyone who is moving or has storage needs.

I just got my container yesterday, and I was really pleased. They were very flexible with delivery, bringing it within hours of when I asked for it. They sold me some lights and a lock, which was great to have and reasonably priced. The pod is cool. It’s all metal, and has easy open doors. I think it’s brand new. And, they drove this cool robot gizmo down my steep driveway, and fit it into my carport. It’s perfect. And, the price was a tad lower than PODS.
