I love chitterlings… but I don’t eat everyone’s chitterlings! But, for some reason after I ate at this restaurant the first time, and enjoyed the food, I thought I would give their chitterlings a try on my next visit. I did try them the next time I visited and they were delicious.

Where do I begin. I’ve been wanting to try this place for years now. Ever since I moved here I always said I’m going to try Big Mamas. Welp I know why I never tried it I think God was trying to save me. Today was my first time visiting and lord I had my taste buds geared up for some good eating. Received my food within five minutes of ordering I was very impressed about that. One star for speedy service. Far as the food it was very bland. No seasoning at all. I ordered the three vegetable plate. Mac and cheese, black eyed peas, and rice and gravy. The rice and gravy tasted like there was no seasoning at all. The Mac and cheese was dry with no taste at all. The corn muffin tasted like it was box mix corn bread. No disrespect but my visit was not what I expected. First and last time going. With the name Big Mamas you would think they have some banging food.

This was the worst! They said they were open at 9:00am. When we got there they told us we had to wait until 11:09am. At 11:00am, they taped a sign on the door that said noon! SMH Hood businesses

Whew, went to big mamas today. Never again. Never. I ordered fried chicken, mac and cheese and fried corn. Ugg, the corn was cold and hard. I ask the waitress if they would exchange the corn, you would have thought I asked for her life, no cannot return.

I had a craving for some soul food, so I called my order in ahead of me getting here. My order was ready when I got to the restaurant. This time trying the chitterlings instead of the fried chicken. Last time I wasn’t too impressed with the mac & cheese, but enjoyed everything else. I’m hoping this time the mac & Cheese is on point. They give good portions and the cakes are really good.

The food was good not great. Had the chitterlings dinner plate wishing they served a bit more. Collards and mac n cheese were average. Just missed the BBQ pigs feet which were sold out.

I haven’t been here in a while since they were where Knight’s Lounge is now. The food was pretty good for the price. I ordered the chitterlings but I didn’t get a healthy portion being that it was $ 10 a plate. I expected the plate to be loaded down with chitterlings but it wasn’t. But the taste was on point. It’s hard to find places that do serve chitterlings and that taste great as well. The service was good as well. I think we were the only ones there that day so we had the waitress to ourselves. I need to make another trip here to see if the chitterlings are still as good as they were!!!

It was good food and service. I ordered fried chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens. All of the items seemed fresh and came to the table piping hot. They are currently expanding into the space next door so, be prepared for a little noise but nothing so detrimental I wouldn’t recommend people giving it or try or stopping me from coming back.

The address on Unilocal is wrong! They’re located at 2803 Wrightsboro Road(next to the wing place in the corner). We got lost trying to find it and we don’t want anyone to miss out on the great food here. Everything was incredible. The service, the food, and the banana pudding. My son had never tried fried chicken before– he cleared his plate. My husband and I both got country fried steak. It was probably the best I’ve ever had. My mashed potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and roll were also delicious. I’d recommend this place to anyone craving soul food. They also make some yummy banana pudding and the other desserts looked equally wonderful.

They have new hours, didn’t close til 6pm this evening. I showed up 5 minutes before closing… the waitress and staff were very nice, fast, refilled my drink quick and the food was awesome! I had the country fried chicken, mashed taters and brown gravy, and the key lime cake!!! Mmmmmmmm!!!

The fried chicken was awful– greasy and stale. almost like it was refried. The mac and cheese was tasteless. Bisquit was dry and stale, and no butter on table. The service was poor and apathetic. The food has no soul in it what so ever. Will not be going back.

All of the good was outstanding. After two trips to Hilton Head Island, and always finding this restaurant to be closed due to very limited operating hours, we finally made it in. We were the only customers in the restaurant do we had the unique opportunity to meet the owner and talk to her at length. We learned all about her upbringing and family which further added to the pleasurable dining experience which is deep in southern culture and history.

The food is good down home fare. The staff is so friendly and down to earth you’ll forget you’re not at home. The pork chops & gravy is excellent. Didn’t care for the peach cobbler, but the red velvet cake was good.

I stopped by here with some fellow soldiers for the first time about 2 days ago. I ordered the catfish and it was amazing. The bread and sides were tasty. I did see my friends order the smother country fried steak, meatloaf, and shrimp. They all appeared to enjoyed. It was on a sunday so most were dressed nicely.

Place was fairly decent, but wasn’t over the top impressed. Ordered the country fried steak and it was fairly delicious, with mash potatoes gravy… again fairly good. The Mac and Cheese I got, however, was absolutely disgusting. It was dry macaroni noodles with cheese layered on it. It just wasn’t my idea of good. Also, when they brought coke out it had a disgusting looking film on the top… I took a drink and it was nice and soapy. But overall I wouldn’t discourage people from trying this place out, but don’t go in with high hopes…

I love the meatloaf, smothered pork chops, the collards greens, cabbage, all of the dessert are good but you need to get there early for the meatloaf because it goes really quick and the mac and cheese is great too.

Ate here for the first time today. They have real collards, and grilled tilapia. Delicious and healthy. It left me enough calories on my diet to have some red velvet cake, which was also delicious. The waitress was prompt and very courteous. I had Cole slaw, which was made right– a rarity. My wife had the fried squash, hash, fried corn. It was all good. We will definitely be making a return trip.

Lunch time again decided on some big mamma’s and maaaaaannnnnn let me tell you I walked in here looking for my grandmother in the kitchen. Very old fashion Deep South setup, I ordered the 2 piece grilled catfish with Mac and cheese and mash potatoes to go, Cooking time was average as I only waited about 5 minutes and the meal was average price. When I got back to work and opened up my plate I was ecstatic everything looked and smelled really good not only that but it tasted wonderful, the fish was tender and tasteful along with everything else. I will definitely be returning for more and recommend eating here!
