Went to Smitty’s on May 28th, 2015 to have my AC fixed after having a diagnostic check where a couple of times I called, different people that answered gave me different prices. They finally settled on 40. They told me it was the condenser and some other parts. Charged me all together 600 with labor 310. I fixed it. Then, on July 30, 2015, while I’m on my way to St. Helena Island for vacation, my AC stops working. After I get back, I take it to them and they couldn’t find my file for what they did. Luckily I still had my receipt in my car. I give it to them and they say to leave the car with them. I leave the car with them and within 45 minutes a man named Donnie calls me telling me that now it’s my compressor. Tells me it will cost 900 dollars and that they would be nice enough to take off 300 from it. I was flabbergasted by them. How dare they! I went to Other auto repair shops and was told that the compressor itself cost 415 for my 2011 Honda Accord. But even so, there was a possibility that Smittys may have known this would happen and wanted to charge me for labor again!!! This would be hard to prove and is only opinion but it left a very sour taste in my mouth. I will never go back and never recommend this place to anyone. They’re a complete ripoff in my opinion, since now I’m 600 in the hole and have no working AC. The only way you may get a decent job done in my opinion, may be if you actually know the owners, otherwise stay away from this horrible place! Now it will cost me an additional 700 to get it fixed somewhere else :(

We’ve taken both of our cars to Smittys over the last 2 years and I wish we found them earlier! Very convenient and friendly service. They recently replaced some spark plugs and tuned up our truck for less than half the price of a different shop down the street.

Initial experience: Would have been Five stars for great customer service, and convienience of dropping off and picking up our family vehicle, as well as a great price and honesty; however, since having the transmission gasket, and filter replaced,(Sept 25, 2009), the gasket is leaking heavily. I called Smitty’s to ask them to see the vehicle, and the lady said they wouldn’t be able to see the vehicle for another week at the earliest. I would think that a request for work under warrenty would be a priority over other vehicles as a favor to the customer and a «lesson learned» advantage for their shop. I took my vehicle to another shop for 24-hr turn-around. I was informed the gasket Smitty’s used was cork, and that GM requires a rubber-steele mesh gasket. BOTTOMLINE: With +70 years experience and a great reputation they are probably the best transmission repair place in town, but they missed the mark with my vehicle.
