Con-Way Freight

I purchased 50 display cases from Roxy Display in New Jersey (over $ 20,000) and they sent them on 7 — 8 foot long pallets. The shipping company (Con-​Way) sent two guys and a couple regular length pallet jacks. The pallets weighed a few thousand pounds each and the delivery guys needed my help to unload and bring the pallets into my store. Con-​Way didn’t send the proper tools or enough guys. Fortunately, I was able to help and had a pallet jack to use but it got damaged while helping. Why should I have to help unload a truck? I spent $ 1000’s to have these delivered. Con-​Way blames Roxy display for improperly packaging the case components. Neither Con-​Way nor Roxy will reimburse me for my broken pallet jack nor my labor and this was on a $ 20,000+ order. Take your business elsewhere and save the expense and aggravation.

You do not call the company that you’re shipping to on Tuesday evening to tell them that their shipment will arrive in the morning. Then they called me 5 hours AFTER my truck was supposed to arrive to tell me they have lost my shipment! They lost it in Denver a few days ago, I am in Austin. All they can tell me is «we have no idea where your freight is». This is unacceptable. This definitely would have been faster to use a horse and buggy at this point and I am certain the horses would be much more competent than Con-​Way employees!

Terrible terrible experiences with this company.
They were supposed to deliver a treadmill to us on Wednesday between 12 and 4 — we had to make an appointment. At 7pm with still no sign of them, we called the depot. The woman on the line was very nice, and said that the delivery guy was still out but running behind. And we weren’t notified because???
So he finally shows up around 8pm (lucky we didn’t have plans for the evening) and says his dolly/​hand-​truck is broken and he can’t get it out of the truck. Why did you even bother to come to our building, call us to receive the package, when you couldn’t even move it out of the truck?
He said he’d reschedule with us, but that there was no way he could get it into our apartment (there are about 8 steps between the street and our place), so we’d have to hire extra delivery men through their company at $ 150/​head. No, thank you — we said we’d have him move it into the garage, which is at street level, and deal with getting it inside on our own.
He showed up today at 3:30 (delivery range 12 – 4 again, he made it — barely — this time!) and we stood outside of the truck waiting. After hearing a lot of grunting and cursing my husband leaned around and asked if he could help, and the guy snapped «Yes, PLEASE» very rudely. So hubby went in and helped him move it out of the truck, then into the garage. The guy complained about the weight the whole time. Yes, the thing is freakin’ 343 pounds — it’s a HEAVY mofo — but you are a delivery company, yes? And, I assume, one privately contracted by Livestrong for their deliveries, instead of using UPS or whatever. You should be used to the weight and should have the process down without having to get help from the people paying you to deliver their items.
So now we have a treadmill sitting boxed up in our garage, and are scrambling to find strong men and rental equipment to get it inside.
