Tried this place for the first time and was very impressed. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Would definitely go back again.

I loved their mysore masala dosa! The food was super great. They have great service and its a small place but comfortable atmosphere.
My friend ordered their sag paneer and rice and that was pretty good too. But, based on my experience this is the best place for dosas in denver. I am an indian and this is pretty authentic and delicious food. Their prices are absolutely reasonable and affordable.

Quality is food is about 3.5, the quantity of food is a 5. Excellent service, décor and cleanliness. Really enjoyed it!

My dad picked me up from the Denver airport and said we must stop by here! He comes from Colorado Springs just to eat here and it was totally worth it! Super friendly staff and the food is delicious! Perfect spice, very flavorful and authentic

After going here a handful of times, the last few have not been that great. The lack of flavor and amount of oil in there dishes leaves a sick feeling.
There dosa is amazing, each time amazing. Fresh and not oily.
I only wish they offered more variety and not as much oil. They could update there utensils they are old and bent.

One of my friend suggested this place. Very good taste. I loved their chettinad Dosa a lot, very authentic (chettinad is a place in southern part of India, i am from there.). Little high on oil but the spices are very different and tasteful.

This is the best Indian food in the Denver area. The dosas are crunchy and flavorful. The lunch buffet is not to be missed. The staff is nice and the new renovation looks beautiful. They also have several good Indian beers to choose from. The carrot pudding dessert is a must.

The food here was amazing. I had the tikka masala, and shared the samosas. Both had incredible flavor. As for the tikka, watch out if you do not like spicy because it was very spicy and I am not particularly sensitive to hot food. It was less creamy than other tikka too; this was not a bad thing at all it was just different than what I’ve had elsewhere. As for the environment, the restaurant was seriously lacking décor. The walls were bare. It would be a nice touch to see some artwork on the walls. The restaurant was small but not too cramped and it was very clean. As for the service, it was not good. I hesitate to include this in my review though because I think they might have just been understaffed and incredibly busy to make it worse. But, we literally had no server and no one came to our table for the first 45 min we were there. We had to track someone down to order an app and then to order our entrée and then to get our check and then we finally walked to the front to pay. I was on a date, and the lack of service made it slightly less enjoyable than it would have been had we had a great server. I have to say judging by the number of people there, and how good the food tasted, I’ll probably give it another shot. I’m hoping it was just an off night.

I wanted to like this place but can’t. I’m spending a night on toilet after eating here. The place isn’t sanitary. Don’t go into the bathroom. I think the health inspector should give the place a visit.

Best Indian food in Denver! The food is absolutely the best. My husband is from India and he says the food is almost as good as back home in India.
We greatly enjoy the chana masala, vegetable korma, and dosas. The buffet is unfortunately not vert spicy (I am assuming to account for many non-​Indian customers) therefore we prefer to order off the menu. The masala chai is made fresh to order so expect to wait about 20 minutes; it is worth the wait!
Before going you must realize that this is an Indian restaurant therefore do not expect excellent service or hospitality. For an Indian restaurant they so have fairly good service and the staff is pretty nice.

I was searching for Indian restaurant after a long trenous drive and the first name that popped up was Masalaa. First need to appreciate the location, even in the not so prime locations we could find a good Indian Restaurant.
The South Indian cuisine (dosa/​uttapam), Chole Bahture are delicious. Could do away with the quantity of oil used.
Service is slow and ambience needs to improve drastically.

I’ve been coming here for several years… currently, the state of affairs there are not optimal. Upon arrival you’ll see a sign letting you know that you should wait to be seated — as the only individual in the entry area, I watched as someone swept the floor a few feet away from me… after some time, my presence was finally acknowledged. It was 12:30pm on a Friday — buffet nearly empty — no idlis/​papadum down to the last 3 pieces and the rest of the buffet had been polished off save a rice dish. Having the consistency of a poorly set sand castle, the idilis eventually appeared. That aside, the dosa was alright — hence, the achievement of one star. One star for being good in the past. Please figure out the customer service thing — it costs nothing.
If it had been 2:15pm, I would not have been so irked by the lack of food in the buffet. As I left and paid my bill, I was given incorrect change and stared at as if I should just leave…

I’m taking a star off my previous review because I’ve been back to Masalaa 4 – 5 times and the service has been uniformly terrible. I still go because the food is just that good, but I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in my life! I don’t know if it’s because I’m not Indian or if they treat everyone this way, but the servers often act annoyed that I am there, service is never friendly and always slow, and last night, my server got my order wrong and then ARGUED with me for several minutes about it rather than just fixing it. I was half expecting to get charged for the wrong order the way he carried on about how it was all my fault (they didn’t, thank goodness). But man, the food was so good I still have to give Masalaa three stars.
Bottom line, amazing food, terrible service. I recommend going for the buffet or takeout to avoid having to deal with the surly waiters.

Lunch buffet is the only option. Service is quick and efficient but would not call it friendly.
Buffet had plenty of options all very good full of flavour. Spicy paneer was delicious as well as the chickpea curry.
Two people, all you can eat buffet for a Total of $ 22 wasn’t bad. I am glad I didn’t see the other reviews about cockroaches before we went.

Five Star, best of the best Indian Fare in Denver!
This is exceptional Indian food-​and– VEGETARIAN alert! This is authentic vegetarian Indian that would make most folks give up bacon forever…
The food: Other reviewers swooned about the DOSAs– so we of course tried some, having never heard of these delightful Indian crepes made of rice and lentil batter. Naturally GLUTEN FREE, peeps, these dosas will knock your socks off. They are the biggest damn crepes I have ever seen, literally rolled out longer than my forearm, and stuffed with yummy things. Try a Dosa.
Also notable were the Coconut Chutney, please draw me a bath… I dipped everything into mine. Delish.
The British Boyfriend, slightly dubious about the vegetarian thing, was so ecstatic about his dinner that he actually showed emotion by smiling– so this place is clearly his new favorite.
A wonderful wonderful hole-​in-​the wall gem found in a strip mall in Aurora, the only teeny downside was the interior/​menus/​floors could have been a teeny weeny bit cleaner. Then this would be 5 stars, strip mall and all!

Great dosa and Chana bhatura! Excellent wait service. Loved the options. Hard to find anywhere else.

I have been to many so-​called Indian buffets in my life and they are generally lacking substantially in authenticity, variety and spice. Masala is a different breed and in a class all of it’s own. First off they are vegetarian which is amazing! Their use of spice is superb and tickles the tongue like nothing I’ve ever tasted. Their complimentary dosa is phenomenal as well.
If you are looking for the typical inauthentic, Americanized, stuff you gut Indian buffet then this place is not for you. If you are looking for authentic Indian taste and perfectly nuanced notes of spice then this is for you. You will leave a better person and you will come back many times.

Brought my sister here to introduce her to the wonderful flavors of Indian food.
We came in around 7:30pm and were seated right away. It was fairly quiet — there were around six others in the restaurant, but we were ready to chow down.
The Channa Masala was incredibly flavorful and spicy! I’d say it was about an 8 out of 10 on my spicy level. It was comparable to Mexican hot, or jalapeños in Korean soup spicy. (Does that make sense? Ha.) In any case, the masala was excellent.
The Paper Masala Dosa was HUGE. My sister and I both dropped our jaws when we saw it. We had never encountered such a thing before. We didn’t even know where to begin, so we started picking away at the ends and dipped the bits of dosa in the chutney and other sauces, and it was good. Really good. The dosa was crispy, yet soft and stretchy. There was also a slightly sweet taste to it as well. There was a warm sauce (I think it was sambar?) that was spicier and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Portions were large (for us). We ended up eating half of the dosa and a third of the masala before we surrendered and boxed those babies up.
The service was not so great. The server came by three times throughout our time there. Once to take our order and two other times to bring over the food. We had to go over to the reception desk three times to ask for boxes and ask for our check. So, we ended up skipping dessert. The two guys working didn’t stop by or even look at us … Wut. Slightly upsetting and disappointing; hence, the three stars.
But, don’t let the skimpy service keep you away! Do stop by, if you’re craving some yummy Indian food!

This was absolutely amazing authentic the best I have had in many years lots of flavor and many choice’s. I will be coming here again. Especially for Denver/​Aurora area.

Attention dosa lovers; I think I have stumbled upon most likely the best dosa place in all of America, yes, all of America. I am going to go ahead and say it; this place has even got Saravana Bhavan beat! At this point, I can compare with dosa places I’ve tried in Houston, Dallas, SF, Seattle, Paris, Amsterdam, and even some places in India. I think this is the best I’ve ever had. This is a little nondescript place in a strip mall in Aurora suburb of Denver.
We liked it so much, we had two meals here over consecutive nights in Denver. Ambiance is simple but clean. Loved that they served in all steel and no paper or styrofoam. Place was packed on Sunday and Monday night. Staff is friendly but shy and usually swamped.
Now, Who has an awesome spicy Andhra dosa? They do. Who can make an awesome pav-​bhaji dosa also crispy? They can. And best of all, ever heard of Rava Mysore Masala Dosa? They have it. Oh my god, my mouth waters just thinking about it. A crispy Rava dosa with a dry rub Mysore masala and potato filling.
Sambar was hot, had lots of vegetables and chutneys were very tasty. We also tried the idly and Medu vada — again, best I’ve had in the U.S. Crispy on outside, gooey inside — just perfect. Above all, their prices were so reasonable. For these prices, I’d never get table service, real plates, let alone this level of taste and freshness anywhere in Texas.
For South Indian food novices, here is a key: Dosa is a complicated and difficult to make item. It’s like baking, all the ingredient balance has to be perfect else they turn out soggy or thick or tasteless. So are chutney and sambar. Anyone can make samosa or chicken tikka masala. Dosas are thin crepes made from a lentil based fermented rice flour. Above all, they are full of protein, vegan and gluten free. Sambar is also lentil based, chutneys are coconut based — again super nutritious, take tons of spices and hours to make. For those who think vegetarian food doesn’t have enough protein, idly, dosa shuts them up. So even if someone charges you $$ for a dosa, pay up– it takes a lot of hard work.
I’d say if the world appreciates American pancakes, admires French crepes, the Dosa should be worshipped.
