Our experience with Planes was outstanding, not only did they come in under their estimated cost for our long distance move, but they handled everything with great care and efficiency. Everyone from the estimator to the packers, movers, drivers and move coordinator were stellar in their concerns for us, our belongings, and the houses were leaving and moving into. We actually had great fun with our movers and their personalities took some of the stress out of the move. We highly recommend the company.

Horrible Company. They were hired to move our personal property from Chicago to Mission Viejo California. We have a contract that specifies over $ 76,000.00 in insurance coverage. Brian Gilcrest promised us our stuff would be delivered unharmed. What they don’t tell you is that they send all your stuff to some warehouse in Aurora Illinois. Then they split it up and ship «parts «of your stuff in different trucks. They do not keep you informed along the way. We had to wait over a week for our second shipment and only found out when it was arriving. Y calling the parent company United Van Lines. The first driver literally assaulted me when I showed him the three damaged Chippendale table legs that they had broken off my 200 year old desk and then put three legs together in the same blanket so the finish is all gouged up and ruined. The second shipment we discovered that my $ 2,000.00 Klein bike with Ultegra components was missing. We filed a claim with their claims department and also filed a police report at their request. Then the claims adjuster Natalie Grieszmer sent us an email and letter stating their company is not going to pay on any claim because we filed a police report. So we filed a Federal Trade Commission Complaint against the Company and are disputing the amount of the missing bike through our credit card company. Do not hire this company or the parent company United Van Lines unless you want your belongings ruined and stolen. Their fancy brochures are 100% BS. And the company could care less. Whatever you do never pay with a cashier’s check as they request or you will have no recourse when they automatically deny all claims for missing or damaged items. They put inventory stickers on all boxes and half of them fall off in transit. Then other boxes they put three or four inventory stickers on them and label all items in the inventory simply as «box» so unless you keep your own list which we did you will have no way to know what’s missing when they show up. Then they claim «Oh, the rest of your stuff must be on another truck» but they don’t tell you that the other truck does not have all of your stuff. You are better off renting a truck and moving yourself because it’s the only way to know your possessions won’t be damaged, stolen or both. They also don’t tell you that unless you pay them $ 35 per box to pack your boxes, they have no liability for anything you pack yourself. So you might as well also move it yourself.

You filed a claim for a missing Klein Quantum bicycle on April 11, 2016. On April 14, 2016 you advised us via email that you filed a police report with the Chicago Police Department because you believe the Klein Quantum bicycle was stolen rather than lost during the move.
Planes Moving And Storage is prepared to cooperate fully with Chicago Police Department during their investigation; please feel free to provide our contact information to them should they request it.
Now that a police report has been filed for the bicycle, this is an issue for the police to resolve. As such, we cannot provide a settlement and the claim will be closed.

I read the bad reviews before and this is NOT one of those. Mine was a long distance move from the Chicago area to Nashville. Dennis the estimator gave me a good price and also some money-​saving tips. The packing and loading crew were supposed to be there between 8am and 9… and actually came EARLY. I had packed some boxes but they packed the rest and loaded everything within an amazing 3 hours. Efficient, professional and plain nice. Today, the final stage moving my things from the Planes warehouse to a storage unit here. Again, the truck came on time! The driver Tim was super good at organizing everything to fit in the unit. Another nice guy. Coordinator for the move was Robyn and she was so prompt in emailing me updates. I even had a call during the unloading to make sure all was going well. And everything arrived in excellent shape. Moving is not fun but I have to say that it couldn’t have been a better experience using United. A previous move with another company was nothing but problems. Planes is a dream if you have to move. Highly recommended.

Do NOT use this mover! They refused to cover damage they did on our hardwood floors. They left wheel indentations from dollies on our floors. Because the damage was not noticed and reported with 24 hours they refused to cover the damage. They also lied about our shipment being on one truck. Planes said our shipment was large enough to have our own truck. After running out of room for our shipment, they had to come back for everything else. The 2^nd part of our shipment did not arrive for 3 weeks even though we were assured that it would be a few days. Peggy H

Save your yourself time energy and your furniture!!! Like the person mentioned beneath my review this company is run by monkeys! I was lied to by the Sales Rep Rob. I was told all my furniture would fit in 4 containers. I had him out twice to assure me all would fit. He lied just to get a sale. A third of my stuff would not fit and is still left behind in Chicago. This company is run by idiots! I was told my items would be left in the containers upon delivery to my home. They were moved from the containers to a truck then to my home! Major damage occurred to 5 pieces! I am so angry! No one calls me back to resolve this! This has been a horrible experience. I hope no one else will go through this! Please beware of this Company!

Is there a way to give this company no stars? The incompetence of the sales rep was so unbearable… my pooches could have handled it. He stood us up 4 times! Every time, I would get a promise of him showing up with boxes. Ha! It did not happen. What was his problem? Did he fall into a black hole? WHERE DID HE GO? The first (and only time) time he showed up to our house to take inventory, he darted into our bedroom and started to open closets. I did not invite him to do this! After getting the quotes, (via email) the rep fell off the face of the planet. Our rep claimed that he has been working for Planes for over 20 years! I think it is time to retire and let a monkey do it. Michelle at the home office was pleasant and helpful. I had to call Michelle at the office to get ail info. This is something that our rep could not handle (thank you, Michelle). We are moving over 2 thousand miles away across the country. If the sales rep cannot handle showing up for appointments, then he cannot handle a huge move. I would avoid this company, altogether… unless you like incompetence and headaches… UGH! No thanks. Do not let them quote you to move a fork across the street! We found a long distance mover. They came in at almost a grand less, they returned our phone calls and they are VERY competent. Our new movers actually like to work and return phone calls.

We’ve moved cross-​country a number of times, so we have experience with moving companies. None have been perfect, but most have been OK. But not Planes — they win the title of «worst». They packed our stuff in Chicago for our move to Atlanta. We couldn’t be there on move-​out day, so we didn’t get to supervise — not that it would have done any good. These guys apparently just tossed things into boxes. The couldn’t be bothered to plastic-​wrap things like the leather couch. When we unpacked on the other end, nearly every box was crushed. In a nutshell: DO NOT give this company your business — if you do, you’ll be sorry.
