Specialties
We offer unique thrift store items that are all given to us by donation. We receive donations everyday so our stock is constantly changing. We are a refugee workplace training site. Volunteers teach refugees in a hands on learning environment, working side by side with us learning the basics of working in retail. Volunteer and internship opportunities available everyday.
If you have large donations like a couch, china hutch etc. we can schedule a pick-up. You can drop items off everyday during normal business hours. From the donations we receive we give all the furnishings necessary to set up apartments for refugees that are new arrivals to the U.S. We provide the furnature, dishes, lamps etc. Providing a comfortable welcome to their new home. We also give gift certificates so the new families can come and get clothing and other household needs.
By donating and shopping at Safari Seconds support a great program going great work with great people. Thanks for your support
History
Established in 2005.
Our retail space has gone through several changes over the years. We have grown to include a space for classrooms, storage for items to be given to new refugee families, floor space for merchandise as well as a boutique space for our high end items.
Our parent non-profit ECDC has refugee resettlement places all over the country. We are the only location with a refugee workplace training center in a thrift store environment. This unique program sets us apart from other non-profit thrift stores. We teach 25 refugees for a 12 week session. They are able to work side by side with volunteer teachers to learn the ins and outs of retail including inventory, working with American currency, janitorial skills, customer service etc. The concept is that after graduating from our training program they would be able to get an entry level job in retail due to their experience with us.
