Portrait On a Plate Catering

Portrait on a Plate catered my wedding last year and a recent holiday party we hosted at our house. Everything they do is amazing! The customer service is above and beyond and the food is even better. Chef Mark and his team are a pleasure to work with and can provide delicious food to fit any occasion. Use them for whatever event you have, they won’t dissapoint!

Portrait On a Plate recently handled our catering for a private event we held at our home. We had 30+ guests who attended and I must say Chef Mark and his assistant Tereza went above and beyond! Every single guest made sure to let us know that the catering was superb and everyone asked who the company was. We had passed hors d’oeuvres, Chef Mark on the grill serving up all sorts of items and a beautiful setup and display with the side items. They provided all china and cleaned up everything! We look forward to using Portrait On a Plate for our next party and to see them catering some of our neighbors parties in the future.

My friend and I attended the Cook and Sip class on 12÷6÷14. I must say I got incredibly lost thanks to unreliable GPS, which caused me to be over 15 mins late. The staff was so understanding and accommodating. The waited for me to get there before they got started. I felt terrible having caused the class to be held up on my behalf.
So after I finally got settled in, I was able to wash my hands in COLD water… hot water wasn’t an option.(YUCK) I then got ready to COOK or at least that’s what I assumed I would be doing in a COOKING CLASS. The area in which the class is held in, operates in a single stove kitchen… not typical of a cooking class. The area was tastefully decorated with linen table cloths and such.
We were then motioned over to another area for the chicken prep. The class had NO involvement in cooking the chicken. The chicken was solely prepared by the chef as the class watched on. We were however able to chop some veggies for the pasta salad. So I guess you can call this a ‘Chopping” class… lol We did absolutely NO COOKING none what so ever. I was very disappointed that it wasn’t truly a hands-​on cooking class. I have experienced Publix and Whole Food Couples Cooking classes as well Sur La Table. Portrait on Plate doesn’t compare. This class was more so a demonstration class with a social entertaining twist.
Although, my cooking experience was nonexistent during this class. I still had fun mingling and socializing with the other couples. We sipped wine and took lots of pictures. So I would say that, if you are looking for a true ‘cooking’ class, this isn’t the place to go. However, if you are seeking a socially interactive date night, this is the place to go!
*****Tips that I think that would make this a great cooking experience****
Upgrade the class menu beyond just chicken and potatoes. Include a starch and vegetable to accompany the protein. Include an appetizer and a dessert. Choose quick meals that allow time for the class to cook and eat there not take home.
Invest in a few cook tops such as some plug-​in electric burners to allow the class to participate in the cooking aspect .
Use of gloves for the entire class!!!

I“ve been to Portrait on a plate twice for birthday cooking classes. It was a great experience both times. I loved the hands on with the grilling class. The first class we didn’t get recipe cards so I was a little disappointed about that. But the second class the recipe cards were with our to go boxes (which i absolutely loved). You can ask any question you like, especially when the group is small, and they will answer (every day cooking questions, or an experience you had where a dish didn’t turn out so well). I will definitely go back!

We had a fantastic time… Great instructions with lots of hands on demonstration… Food was excellent. Met some new people. Fun had by all. I would recommend it…

We had a lot of fun on ⁶⁄₂₈. This is a great beginner’s class for those that aren’t comfortable with cooking. It even teaches a few new tricks for those that have been cooking forever. It is very hands-​on. We actually had to break our group into two dates because of the limit, but our other group went on ⁶⁄₂₁ and had a good time too.
The later group has actual planned a challenge to re-​create the jerk fish dinner we prepared. Now this should be interesting! lol
This is definitely something we will do again. The people made the experience fun… we even welcomed the guy Brian who came solo like we’ve known him forever. This is good for fellas/​ladies night out, bdays, even date night.
Have fun with it. The food was awesome too and it was very easy to make.

Some friends and I purchased Living Social deals online for the BYOB cooking class. Add BYOB to ANY event and it’s always a winner for me :). I’m really glad I purchased it without reading where it was located, because had I saw that it was on the other side of GA, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it and I would have missed out on a great experience.
The place is located in a small shopping center next to a barber shop and some other stores. Parking was easy to find. We walked in and were greeted by one of the Chefs and told to sign in on their signup sheet. After that, we sat down at a table. They had things set up as 3 square tables with 4 chairs each (total of 12). Once some of my other friends arrived we all decided to join the tables, even with the folks we didn’t know, to give the whole experience a Family Style feel.
I’m glad we joined the tables because everyone really got a chance to get to know each other and there were tons of laughs and bottles being shared. We washed our hands and were given aprons to put on. We made Baja Tacos with cilantro rice and Pico de Gallo. I don’t know how to cook, but I still really enjoyed watching as the chefs explained each thing that we need to do. Rather than doing it for us, they showed us examples and then left us to finish the rest. I zested the limes with a zester and I got to mix the fish with the seasoning that we made.
The bottles were pouring and drinks were flowing. Once everything was done, they plated the food we made and served it to us. We sat down and ate our food and it was really tasty! They surprised us with some delicious dessert. We had enough food for left overs and they made a box for each of us to take home (they really came in handy the next day because we were SOOO hungry and didn’t feel like leaving the house).
This was a really fun experience and it left me feeling confident that I can try some of the things I learned at home. We’ll see how that goes but I will be sure to have a glass of margarita on deck when I do!

Thought it was a nice experience and learned a lot about the preparation of the meal. Felt the ambiance could use a little brushing up, but chef Mark was a great host and teacher. I would definitely suggest it to others.

Had a great time on my visit, with my fiancé. This was a first for us, and we definitely would return. The hospitality was great, chefs were awesome and food was great. This only thing was that its appearance could be a lil better on the outside, but the experience made up for it.

My fiancé and I went there for valentines day. We booked A COOKING CLASS! Though the atmosphere was nice and the other couples made the experience enjoyable, we did not cook ANYTHING! We did, however chop onions and bell peppers. I was highly disappointed at how misleading the discription was. It wouldn’t have been bad if we wanted a «personal chef feel.» Matter fact, that’s exactly what it was, he cooked the food, answered questions and we tasted some apitizers and our dinner was boxed and we were out the door. No plated food to enjoy with my fiancé. For the money we spent, a fancy restaurant would have suffices. Now I would say, that fun part of the evening was doing the blind taste testing. I believe they have potential to be a good catering and cooking school, they just have to do just that, teach cooking!
