Managers, please train your personnel to treat customers with respect and assume good intentions, and when a customer asks about your return policy, your personnel doesn’t insinuate that a customer would be dishonest when returning something back… Not nice.

I’ve been getting various pieces of art framed at Aaron Brothers for a few years now. From the outset, I’ll tell you that the quality of their work is high, and I’ve always been satisfied with the end product. The problem is that dealing with the people at Aaron Brothers is a little like negotiating with a shop dealer in Matamoros. Scenario: You walk up to the front counter, show them the piece you need framed, and tell them what you want. My circumstances have always been such that I’ve only needed the cheapest framing with the cheapest glass possible — which i tell them from the outset. They’ll take the measurements of the artwork, and inevitably come at you with some ridiculous estimate of, say, 400 dollars. You scoff at this estimate, and say«Sorry, that’s way too much.» You start to walk away — «But wait!» they say. «We happen to have this other type of frame with this other, cheaper glass on sale for 50 percent off!» «Ah, well,» you respond. «Now you’re speaking my language.» They start to put the package together, throw on a few services, an unneeded matte, and then… oops, your estimate is up to 250 bucks. «No, that’s too much,» you say. You start to walk away again. And then they come at you with offer number three. This rigamarole continues, and eventually they magically find a way in their system to get the work down to about 125 dollars. And you’ve made your deal. I kept playing this game until, this year, I went back to Aaron Brothers to have a single piece of art framed as a gift. This piece was significantly smaller than anything else I’d ever had framed before with them, but the guy simply wouldn’t go below 260 dollars. «Check your system,» I asked them, «and find the deal you set me up with last year. The one for less than 125 dollars.» Alas, despite years of purchases, they had no trace of me in their database. So, I went to Michael’s and had my artwork framed for 95 dollars flat. It was their first offer, their best offer, and they did a quality job. Lesson learned.

Update: I found a local place nearby called FastFrames, in the Arbor area close to Whole Foods. Very nice selection of frames and was very happy to take our business. I really liked the positive attitude, live and let live vibes, and the expertise in helping us choose frames/matting was excellent! I have another review on FastFrames.

Typically I would not rate a seemingly simple store product that has such high prices 5 stars. But Aaron’s isn’t as simple as it appears. Nor is it as expensive as it appears. And it is far more dynamic/adaptable and personalized than you would think. On two occasions I have brought in extremely sentimental art pieces to be framed. Both occasions were met with patience, attention to detail, professionalism, and true pride in the end result. If you wait for their coupons that will save you over 50% on framing, you will not only more than think it is worth it, you will have that feeling of buyer’s perfection that is rarely found these days.(Buyer’s perfection is a balance of service, atmosphere, quality, fairness in price, and that cool human element.) Check out my two pieces that radiate the beautiful human element which can do nothing but compliment a talented artist and the meaning of love in the form of a very special kitty and doggie.

Great customer service and excellent prices. This place was recommended to me by the photographer who had taken some photos of my family. He told me they had an excellent selection and basically raved about all the sales they had going on all the time. I figured if I could trust anybody on the subject of framing, a seasoned photographer would probably be a safe bet. He was right on. This place has a great selection and plenty of great frames on sale. When I walked in I am pretty sure one of the kind ladies working there saw I had no idea what I was doing so she quickly offered to help. She help me put together a few frames based on the pictures I brought in with me and we came up with a few combinations that i would have never thought of myself. It was a great shopping experience and I hate shopping. There was a table with their sales items in the middle of the store in which I bought one frame and there was a sale on a few other frames that I also purchased. They turned out great. Anyway, the frames that were not on sale were also very reasonably priced. I bought three frames(a 10×12 and two 5x7s) for $ 33 bucks. Sweet deal.

Aaron brothers has great coupons, if you get on their emailing list. I like their selection, making this my go-to place for premade frames(in the 9×12ish sizes. Occasionally, I do some custom ones here, also. I have always found the staff to be friendly and willing to help.
