Lee Ahlbrandt studied wildlife biology and management at Texas State University. His studies included research on the impact of urban development on endangered Texas plants and wildlife.

«The idea of creating a beautiful landscape that simultaneously provides inviting habitats for urban wildlife first occurred to me while I was working on a habitat restoration project in southwest Travis County. That was back in 1995 and since then I’ve been designing and installing landscapes with the idea that the garden should function as an oasis not only to the overworked homeowner but to urban wildlife that could use a break from the stresses of everyday survival as well. »
