Acme Air Conditioning & Heating

We live in a 1930’s home. When we bought it, all it had was window units.
We truly spent 2 years talking to AC guys about how to get central air into our home.
Six different companies walked through our house and tried to figure out how to make it work. Three just sort of shook their heads and never sent us estimates. The other three actually said it could be done. Of these, we went with Acme and Jason Baker. Partly because of the price, but mostly Jason was the easiest to work with and had the best ideas.
Jason spent an incredible amount of time talking to us about different options and working through the challenges of installing duct work in a house never intended to have duct work.
His team was very professional and a really nice bunch of guys.
It all turned out great. A bit over a year later, we have had zero trouble with our air conditioning and Austin summers are now a breeze.

The tech was friendly and helpful and gave me good advice on how to save money on further repairs. In and out job and a good guy, to boot.

Great guy. He’s bee working on our AC for the 22 year we’ve owned our now 118 year old house. We had him install AC in our addition 10 years ago. Does good, honest work. Won’t try to upsell you or fix something that isn’t broken.

Jason is an excellent technician and I have NEVER had any issues with his prices. We used his expertise from 2005 – 2013 as needed. He never tried to sell or install something that I didn’t need and explained why we needed to do something.
We honestly thought our A/​C unit was done for one time and Jason could have sold us one and taken advantage very easily but he is not that kind of person. He fixed us up with what we needed which was very inexpensive, but it was the honesty that I valued.
Jason is a guy who is understands what a hassle it is to have the A/​C or heater break. And this is the kind of service you used to get or hear old folks talk about.
Acme Air came to work on our A/​C on a recommendation from my Father-​In-​Law who used Jason for a good number of years.
We now live in Dallas but had some issues with A/​C a bit ago and wished we had Acme Air in the Big D.
I came across an old service receipt from Acme the other day and I’ve always wanted to make sure to write up a review for Jason but always got sidetracked.
And YES, he is an ATX guy for all of you people who like to keep business local.

We used ACME for our house, after my boyfriend’s company hired them to fix their office a/​c. Their prices are very reasonable. The guys are very professional, prompt, and friendly. They took the time to explain everything, and even vacuumed at the end to get rid of the few leaves they tracked in from outside while they worked.
Highly recommended.

I just had a great experience with Acme Air Conditioning & Heating.
My air conditioner decided to break over the weekend a week before family was about to visit from out of town. I had heard great things about Jason (the owner) from a neighbor, so I decided to give him a call. Jason was very prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. He was booked solid this week because of the start of summer, but he managed to slip me in within 24 hours in order to be accommodating.
The tech who came was very nice, knowledgable, and professional. He insisted on being thorough, both when it came to testing & retesting everything he had worked on as well as checking in with Jason frequently to ensure he was doing everything he could to ensure the problem was 100% fixed. I definitely got the feeling — both from Jason and the tech — that they were trying hard to minimize my cost. At the end of everything, both the tech and Jason walked me through each part they used and why they used it, and the final bill was very reasonable given the time they spent.
I will definitely use Acme Air again in the future without hesitation.

I have used this company in the past twice. They are very competent and nice, but I have to say they are overpriced as far as extra fees and freon cost compared to other companies I checked with after using them.

I’ve used ACME for my own home, and a couple of family rental properties. The guys were always very nice (even when they were crawling around in my attic, on a 100+ degree day last summer), willing to explain everything, and reasonably priced. Their service has always been top notch, boutique-​y even compared to the quality of service I’ve received from past AC companies. In that they are locally owned to boot, I’ve got to say ACME is a total gem of a company.

Acme is extremely high quality. I hired them to inspect my ac systems and clean out the condensation pan and drainage systems. They explained everything they were doing. After they were finished and I had paid them they even fixed something else that they hadn’t seen until the last minute — at no extra charge.

It’s easy to rate these guys with 5 stars. And yes, 5 stars means as good as it gets.
I have used Acme Air Conditioning on two occasions. Both times they were prompt and courteous. The first time was a burnt out AC motor. Jason, the guy who came out, explained everything that he was doing. He even showed us how the previous owner had wired up the motor incorrectly. He fixed the bad wiring and was able to locate a replacement motor within the day.
The second time was a bit of an emergency. 106 degrees in Texas in an emergency in my book. 30 minutes and one inexpensive part later, we had cold air blowing in the house.
They are prompt, courteous, and will not rip you off. It feels like quality small-​town service in a big town. This is an Austin family business run by some cool guys. Can’t get any «Keep it weird, Austin» than that.
