History
Established in 2006.
This is a local (Austin) business, started when Jeff was playing Legos® with his kids and looking for ways to encourage them to actively create using technology. He bought an NXT mindstorms kit, and he and his kids had so much fun that he wanted to shart this with other families. So, he brought Elwood on board to develop camps and other programs using this amazing Lego® robotics system. Elwood is a math and science teacher (and dad), and together they formed Advancing Robots around the goal of allowing kids to experience the joy of creating technology. We emphasize a very hands-on problem-solving approach, encouraging kids to think, try, then observe/revise. Each summer the program has grown, by summer 2011 we are running 59 camps in 11 locations around the Austin area, after-school programs in 9 schools and many Lego Birthday parties each year. Next fall we’re adding homeschooler classes, and additional schools and districts. Contact us for anything Lego® Robotics!
